“You get what you pay for”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

Just back from a week at Cala Blanca Apartments. I followed the advice given here and requested ground floor apartment and was pleasantly surprised at how spacious the accommodation was including 2 bathrooms both with shower over bath and bidet. There is no getting away from the fact that these apartments are 2 star, they are a little dated but overall they are clean and the beds in our apartment were the comfiest I've experienced in all my self catering holidays.

We were staying in No 14 and the main downside is that the bedrooms back on to a road which has 2 bars and because there is no air conditioning windows had to be left open and the noise really did disturb our sleep, going on until well into the small hours. Apartments with numbers 1-6 probably quieter.

There is a small swimming pool which we had to ourselves quite a lot as the beach is just across the road but my children preferred the pool to the sea. There are plenty of sunbeds, not the most comfortable, but enough to go round but no umbrellas and limited shade.

There are a number of restaurants nearby, our favourites were Cala Blanca restaurant and Miramar (across beach overlooking bay, great views). There is a supermarket behind the apartments which had everything we needed but not sure if there is a cheaper one elsewhere.

Transfer was about 45 minutes by private taxi.

We visited end July/early August and did not have a problem with mosquitos but there were lots of ants, inside the apartment as well as around the pool. There were also lots and lots of little black flies in the apartments, these did not appear to sting or bite though. There was a large can of insect spray in the cupboard so we sprayed our rooms regularly.

As others have said, when you arrive you have to ring reception and they let you know what number your apartment is. Our towels were changed 3 times and bed linen and full clean mid week.

Overall I would recommend these apartments if you are on a budget - we went with realistic expectations and were therefore pleasantly surprised but so many people pay for 2 star and expect 5 star! I would say the resort is well suited to families rather than couples or groups looking for lots of nightlife.

Room Tip: Ground floor apartments more spacious with terrace but request low number, no 14 backed on to a road...

As two 50 year old mothers my friend and I stayed in these apartments last week. YOU GET WHAT U PAY FOR!!! We'd a great time because there was nobody else there ! Clean and no frills, quiet and close to anything you could need. Not for high season, nor luxury!

My hubby and I booked a late break September 2013 and were given a ground floor two bedroomed apartment. On arrival it was a bit like the Maria Celeste no-one around. On stopping a local passerby, the lovely man was able to figure out we had to ring a different apartment complex, to find out the apartment number, to be told the key was in the door. Strange, but the apartment was clean and tidy if a bit dated, but for the price was fine. We had a wonderful stay once we got the kettle changed for one that would switch on, the cleaner was a lovely lady but not an English speaker but with my touch of schoolgirl Spanish we could just about understand one another. The pool is small but spotless and very quiet, the beach is just across the road and lots of local restaurants and bars. I would certainly go there again. Jx

Room Tip: Walk up into town for some more very good restaurants.

We had ten days in these apartments they were basic but clean , we did however have regular clean towels & one day the bulb in the living room blew & it was changed straight away, yes the pool is small but why bother with it when there is a gorgeous beach 30meters away. Its the third time weve holidayed in Cala Blanca but the first time in these apartments, we will definately stay again.

The description does not match the apartments, no air con, no tv, no telephone, the pool is tiny and not inviting. Dirty surroundings. Could not do self catering fridge was dirty and full of rust! Bath had rust in it so wore flip flops to shower. No reception just a notice board with a telephone number to call to be told what number your apartment is. No welcome pack. No staff to assist with any problems. Advertised as 3star was actually 2 star! I would never stay there again.

Had a week with my family of 5 in these apartments recently and we were totally amazed at what we got for our money. It is 2 star so please don't expect fancy and frills, but it is clean, spacious, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and sofa bed, regular clean towels and bed linen. This best thing about these apartments is the location. The beach is literally across the road and the beach, cliffs and scenery is breathtaking. There is a bus stop in front of the apartments that takes 10mins to Cituadella for less than 2 euros. There are plenty of restaurants/bars in walking distance, and a supermarket very close by too. The Key West is best for a cheeky cocktail. My children loved the water flumes at Tobagganes (opposite) and the food here was very good too. The complex is small, 16 apartments in total, it has a small pool which is very clean and there are sunbeds which have seen better days. The beach is lovely and ideal for snorkelling and jumping off the cliffs. There is a lifeguard there all day and he was very helpful when my daughter got a jellyfish bite. You can also hire sunbeds and a parasol for 18 euro.
We were pleased that there were 2 hot water tanks so there was always enough hot water for showers. The only negative would be the kitchen area was small with only 2 electric rings, no microwave or oven so we just cooked breakfast there and ate out in the evenings.
I would go back; for a quiet family holiday base it is ideal. The location is fantastic, and Cala Blanca is beautiful and not overly commercial. Made some good friends whilst there just from being round the pool and kids all playing together. We had a great holiday, I didn't want to come home.

Room Tip: Apartments 1-8 seemed to be in a quieter position to 9-16. Ground floor apartments are slightly bigg...

September 5th. We arrived after our transfer at about 1 pm. We could not believe the location of the apartments , as they were just across the road from a gorgeous little beach with white sand and gently lapping sea. Apartments were spacious with two bedrooms, two bathrooms ( one en-suite ) and an adequate kitchen/diner. Lovely patio area just outside, where we ate many a meal. Bedding and towels changed twice in the week we spent there. Towels were a little tired but perfectly clean. One very small criticism would be of the smell of drains when first entering the apartments, but this soon disappeared , once the doors had been open a few minutes.
(Block up the overflows in basin and bidets with tissue paper) Five or six restaurants located nearby around the lovely beach, but if you needed a larger selection, just take a stroll 10 minutes up the road to watch the glorious sunset , and there is a large selection of eating places behind the Maribel Hotel. We had a brilliant time here , and would not hesitate to return to these apartments. We have promised ourselves that we will return in the not too distant future.

Room Tip: Downstair rooms seem to be the ones that have a patio area, whereas upstairs rooms, you seemed to be...
