Stayed in Carda Beach Hotel last summer (August 2010)
The hotel, in general, is good. Kardamena is a nice village, small place with few bars and restaurants. Views are stunning, pool is huge and nice!

Indeed, the hotel is 15 min walking from everything, i mean Kardamena. There is nothing nearby the Hotel.
Thought, let me suggest you something: While staying in KOS ISLAND, rent a buggy or a jeep. I did it and was the best thing i've done in my holidays. Found amazing and desert beaches, could visit places by my own, eat at my times, etc
You can do it directly in the Hotel reception.
Forget about the hotel beach. Its just in front of the hotel, but there is no sand, only rocks, and you have some stairs that throw you right in the ocean!

Don't miss AVLI Restaurant in Kardamena, the nr 1 on my trip!
Great food, great staff, great atmosphere !
Don't miss ZIA Sunset, with dinner in restaurant terrace, really awsome!!!

Found the most amazing beaches in the island in northwest and west zone of the island.
Forget about paradise beach, magic beach, and nearby beaches: overcrowded beaches, overpriced chairs (there's no place to put the towel in the sand) and lot of trash in the sea.
Just go straight ahead, climb the hill and pass Kefalos and then start going down again

I found out one my favorite beach there, amazingly far from everywhere and mostly desert. It was so beautiful that i had to ask my girlfriend to marry me there! They called it KAVO PARADISO BEACH FKK
(don't go there if you don't have a 4x4, that's why its so desert :)

You have also a very good beach, ALWAYS desert without people, about 3-4 km WEST from Mastichari (don't remember its name).
Also, passing by Mastichari and going all aside the sea, direction EAST to Marmari, you will find the best chill out restaurant and beach named TAM TAM Beach Restaurant, eated there almost everyday, really AWSOME ! http://www.tamtam.gr/

Don't miss BODRUM, TURKEY (One day trip).
You will find there hundreds of shops with very good copies of watches, so called GENUINE FAKES (rolex, breitling, etc), purses (prada, Louis Vitton chanel, etc)
Really worth it !!!

Arrived at the hotel at around 3am, receptionist took us to our room by golf buggy, only to find that we were being taken to the sister hotel (Mikri Poli). One of their sleazy tricks which they do to their customers: place them in a 3 star hotel while youre paying for 5 star rating. Our room was full of ants crawling in the bed, dirty bath and loud german kids running around! 95% of people in Mikri Poli are German, the other 5% have been put in their with no choice.
Story was the Carda Beach was full and some blocks had maintenance problems.....aka. A LIE! All blocks were in use and this was another excuse/trick up their sleeve.
Our Thomson Rep did nothing at all, and we were left to deal with the problem ourselves!
Complained every morning and night, until halfway through our holiday we started to threathen them which got them moving eventually and put us up in one of their suite rooms. Honestly, the suite rooms are the best and perfect for the luxury holiday, But we only got 3 days in this suite til we had to go home. This did not make up for our rubbish holiday!
PS. All staff are very rude and take their time to deal with your complaint/order or even drink.

DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS HOTEL OTHERWISE YOU RUN THE RISK OF HAVING A RUINED AND UTTER SHAMBLES OF A HOLIDAY!!! THIS IS THE ENTIRE TRUTH AND WE WERE NOT THE ONLY ONES THAT HAD THE SAME STORY WHILE WE WERE THERE.

Just returned from a really relaxing 5 nights at the this hotel and wanted to write a review as I had found other reviews useful when booking this trip. Will admit that we arrived ready to fight our corner about not being moved to the Makri Polli but everything was great! Booked 2 weeks before through Low Cost Holidays and got a fantastic all inclusive deal. Booked flights separately too through Easyjet. Would recommend this hotle because:

Rooms - Beds are king size and very comfortable. Plenty of lighting in the room, air con was great and not really needed that much. Shower was great with shower gel provided. Hair dryer is powerful so really no need to take one with you. We had a sea view suite which I'd recommend as had two good sized rooms and a big double balcony. TV shows only BBC World Service and some channels had movies in English but there's a DVD player so if you think you're going to get bored, bring dvds as hotel stock is v limited! Mini bar has bottled water and was restocked daily on all inclusive deal. Tea and coffee provided daily - you may want to take tea bags with you as only lemon tea.

Meals - lots of options at breakfast. Can get really busy some days with family groups from neighbouring hotel so go down later as is open until 10.30am. Lunch is quieter. Dinner can get really busy too so either go early or late to get a table easily. Wok n Roll was quieter and was child free when we went. House wine in the Blue Bar is nicer than that in the restaurant but all is perfectly drinkable. Cocktails are made with local spirits so not that nice unless you buy nice mixers to go with them. Bar is very relaxed. I'd recommend a double espresso, a beer and an ice cream in the afternoon by the pool!

Staff - were friendly and efficient. All were multilingual in German and English.

Beach is very close to walk over to and the sea was warmer than the pool! The three pools were clean, quite warm and very welcome after a workout in the onsite gym. There's also an indoor pool which is pretty much desserted even on cloudy days.

Location - Kardamena is not that interesting but worth a wander around. It's quiet during the day with shops full of fake designer goods, but probably gets livelier in the evening. It's worth getting the bus to Kos Town as buses run from Kardamena and it's just 2.90Euros to get there. (Bus stop is to the left of the Louis supermarket in case you need it). The airport is only 10 mins drive away so really easy transfer by bus or taxi.

I really would recommend the Carda Beach Hotel especially in late summer season. (The weather was stormy on a couple of days but never got below 22C). It was mostly German families and British couples who stayed at the hotel so relaxed atmosphere.

We chose the Carda Beach as it looked amazing on the website, but it has a few problems, Overall we had a fantastic holiday, the weather was fantastic, Kos is a lovely place.

The Rooms.
The rooms are amazing not one bad word to say about our room, it was clean and when we arrived the mini bar was full (this was never replenished though in our 10 day stay) there was slippers and dressing gowns waiting for us which was a nice touch, there was a dvd player with a flat screen TV and the view from the balcony was beautiful. The only problem with the room was the location, we were right at the top of the hotel and it is up such a steep hill, it was really hard work getting up to the room.

The Food.
The food is great but after 10 days its very repetetive. The fresh fish was beautiful, the salad bar was great and there was a very good choice of other items too. It felt a bit like we was in a canteen though, especially for the evening meal, it wasnt romantic at all. The italian was the best, i thought it was beautiful in there, the chinese was also nice, just not as good as the italian. Breakfast was good with a large selection, the big bowl of nutella was the best part!! LOL.

The Service.
The reception staff were fantastic, The restaraunt staff were really great, especially the manager, he was always so helpful, The bar staff......terrible, one girl inparticular was so rude to us, they took ages serving you but the cocktails were fab so it made up for it ;-)

The Location.
The hotel is a few mins walk from Kardamena down an unlit, uneven, quiet road which makes an intresting walk at night, but we didnt like Kardamena at all so never went into the town more than once, its a bit of a dive im sad to say, we hired a car and visited all of the other small towns and villages, Kos Town was a lovely place to go.

The Pool.
This is the best part of the hotel, its beautiful, it has massive pools that never get crowded, the beds are much to close together though, its like your on top of each other!! They were lovely and clean. A great place to relax and read your book. As i said the weather was fantastic for our 10 day stay but there was a constant cool breeze which meant you could lay out all day and never got to hot.

Overall we had a lovely holiday, its what you make of it after all, i wouldnt go back to Kos as its so small and has nothing much to do, and wouldnt go back to the smae place anyway. The hotel is OK but it is not a 5 star at all.

Carda Beach Hotel - On arrival at reception expect to be side loaded to their sister hotel Mikri Poli. The difference being is that the Carda is classed as adults only and the Mikri Poli is classed as family i.e. children in every nook and cranny.
Both hotels are predominantly German visited and therefore totally German orientated. The very few UK visitors invariably end up in the Mikri Poli. It was advised however that the facilities of both hotels were available for use.

Accommodation - Rooms are clean and spacious although there are a great many steps if you are not accommodated at the lower levels.

Facilities - There are plenty of sun loungers and a more than adequate swimming pool area, however the German reputation of placing towels at the crack of dawn is true. There are two bars available (Mikri Poli). The pool side bar has no inclement weather blinds and is therefore unusable during a chilly, windy or rainy evening which was unfortunately the case on a few evenings during our visit. The inside bar is a square in the middle of the reception area and has a cold and unwelcoming atmosphere.

Entertainment - At the Carda there is none. At the Mikri Poli you should be prepared for your peace and quiet to be blasted away by a children’s entertainment team (totally German focused) everyday at around 10 am and 3 pm. The same music, the same routine blaring from loud speakers completely in German.

Meals - (All Inclusive) All the meals were adequate with a good selection, however again they were all German orientated and after the first few days became very monotonous.

Location - Carda/Mikri Poli are both only a short walk from Kardamena town, although at night time the road is dark, narrow and uneven. It is recommended you use the local bus or taxi to travel into town during the evening. Kardamena town itself has plenty of shops bars and restaurants to choose from. The Scala restaurant situated near the ferry terminal is recommended.

Conclusions - Carda/Mikri Poli Hotel - leave them for the Germans. Fortunately we had good company and were able to overcome and adapt. Kardamena town is very welcoming and we suggest you check out Nissia and Kamares (studios and apartments) self catering.

Just returned from Carda Beach. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. We had 2 weeks all-inclusive here and it was fantastic. The food is very good with plenty of variation. The restaurant staff are 100% helpful and efficient and the cleanliness is second to none. The rooms are very modern, of a good size with a walk in wet room. The drinks selection is good and the cocktails are extremely generous. The pool is extremely well kept and spacious with plenty of sun beds. The only down side is that quite a few of the rooms are up a rather steep hill and as we are both pensioners we had to change for one on the lower level. The reception staff we very helpful and moved us the following day to a lower level. This is one hotel we shall certainly be returning to next year. 110% recommended

It's an excellent hotel - Very clean, good food, the rooms are very comfortable, and after seeing the pools you just want to sit near them all day long. But - the management of the hotel is a mess. We reserved a suite with a semi-private pool, and when we arrived we were told that there are no suites available. Only after a day we were moved to a suite without a pool, but we were asked to leave the previous room at 10am and got the new room only around 6pm. However after lots of difficulties we got more than compensated, which shows that the hotel stuff was attentive to our problems and tried to solve them. Even with all the trouble, it's still a very worthwhile hotel.
