We wanted to visit a Greek Island for our holiday last July and saw Porto Bello Royal at a reasonable price. The hotel is big and clean and has everything you need for a brilliant holiday.
When checking in we were given a rough map or layout of the hotel but no directions to our room. I should've asked, but being a man I thought I could find it and we spent a while wandering around before I asked. At first the layout is confusing but after spending the week there we appreciated how well it was planned out.
My favourite thing about this hotel was the food, I've never known such quality and variety at an all inclusive. There are various restaurants to choose from and even an ice cream parlour! Apart from the main restaurant all the others have to be booked at reception the night before otherwise they are fully booked but well worth it. The Asian restaurant is very popular but my favourite was the Greek taverna.
The rooms are clean and comfortable and stocked with a free minibar. There is a free safe and air con too.
The outdoor pools are all salt water and they are very nice. Due to the number of pools and the layout of the hotel it is never too crowded in the pool areas. The indoor pool is great too.
The beach is lovely, the beach bar and activities are all free as part of the all inclusive
Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the place is well managed. Our rep Nick was a nice lad who will do all he can to make your holiday perfect.
There is a free bus to the local town, Kardamaina it leaves bang on time so don't be late!
My only complaints, and I am being a bit petty here, the Greek taverna is only open at lunch time and we spent most days outside the hotel.
The "orange juice" and any drinks containing it are water based and sweetened and not fresh orange juice this spoiled the cocktails a bit. The sandwiches at the snack bar are not great but they go like hot cakes.
Some people have mentioned the low flying planes due to the location being directly in the flight path. I admit this did wake me early on the first morning but you get used to it and won't even notice them by the end of the week.
We always go on holiday to a new destination each year but did consider coming back here, however the price has gone up quite a bit since last year and it is now sold out.
Finally Kos is a beautiful island, do try to see some of it rather than stay in the hotel every day.
