“Great Hotel”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

Back home on 17th October after a fortnights stay at this hotel. The hotel layout is over a few levels and the views from the rear of the hotel are beautiful over looking the nearby island of nisyros, the online/brochure photos do not do it justice. We stayed in room 411 2 levels down from reception which more than met our needs. The bathroom had a bath with overhead shower loo etc,the bedroom had large wardrobe, large bed, sofa and a safe which was free to use, flat screen telly which needed to be retuned to find BBC news channel(no problem)patio doors to a small seating area. There are 13 pools which I expected would include plunge pools but they were all good sized swimming pools and we managed to try a few out but we did find it more diffucult to swim as they are salt water and a little bit on the cool side but as we had fantastic weather they were inviting the sunbathing area on the beach was also good. The main restaurant was very inviting and you will never go hungry as there is a good range of food on offer. As it was hot we were able sit in the outside eating area and we didn't bother with the other restaurants but if you require more variety then book the Thai, italian or fish restaurants. The drinks were international rather than local eg J.Walker red label whiskey, russian vodka and a variey of cocktails therefore were very strong so be careful even the wine at mealtimes was served by the bottle 11% proof. We mainly used the outside bar which is on the same level as the restaurant and occassionaly the beach bar. There was a curtisy bus from the hotel to Kardamena throughout the day but it didn't take long to walk there and back.Towels were available for 20 euro desposit and could be changed every day the deposit refundable at the end of your stay. There is a small shop on site but as it was near the end of season it was looking empty, there is also a an ice cream palour but as you can get ice cream at meal times we only tried it once.
There were only 400 (approx)people in the hotel whilst we were there and I believe they have about 800 in the high season but I don't think you'll ever feel crowded as there is so much space.
I have to mention the staff they are so friendly and efficient I thought they were a credit to the hotel and of course we met some nice people. As for being on a flight path I loved it but if I lived next to an airport I might have thought differently. The animation team were based at the sister hotel next door but some keep fit was on site. There was a singer everynight in the main bar but we only went there once but he was ok.Must not forget to mention Bethan our rep nothing was too much trouble for her she was great.
Is this a 5 star hotel? yes it certainly is, after all its what the hotel offers not what you get out of it.
If ever we go back to Kos we wouldn't hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: room 411 does not a have a pool directly in front of it and it was only 2 levels down from reception...

We were there for a full week during end of September. It was anything you could ask from a great vacation all-inclusive experience:

* Relaxing and quiet to the extreme (barely any kids running around, the pools were practically empty almost the whole time). The only 'serious' noise was the airplanes landing nearby, but it's nothing - any bad reviews saying it was annoying (and we've read a few before booking this hotel) are just out to get back at someone at the hotel.

* Perfect weather - clear blue skies the entire week, the sea was perfectly flat and calm and not too cold to swim in, during all hours of the day up until 6 PM (same goes for the pools).

* Absolutely great service - the entire staff make you feel like a king, and each and every one of them was a professional at their job.

* Really really great food - we've been to all-inclusive hotels before in a few countries, never encountered this high level of food offerings, not even close! It was not just the variety, but the taste! Some really good chefs are working there, no doubt. We tried all restaurants but the main restaurant tops all the others single-handedly.

* Beverages offered are just as varied as the food, and if you plan on enjoying any alcoholic drink (free of charge, all inclusive...) at any time of the day, there are 3 bars around for you to pick from. You can take any cocktail, beer, wine, whiskey etc. to the pool/beach with you, to pass the time even better.

I went to the Porto Bello Royal for a week late Sept - early Oct with my fiance.

Firstly, nothing could have spoilt the holiday as the weather was so lovely, not too hot just perfect to sit out in all day. Would definitely recommend going Sept/Oct.

First impressions were good - I did read some reviews before I went but needn't had worried because it was such a lovely hotel. We arrived late and rushed into the restaurant and the food wasn't great but it must of been a bad day because the food just got better and better throughout the holiday. Such a variety and would recommend the Greek restaurant for lunch and the Asian for dinner.

Snacks were a bit disappointing but the gelateria made up for this - lovely icecream and milkshakes!!!!!

Good choice of drinks day and night (lovely cocktails) and the singer was good (Kostas) we just sat out on the balcony every night. Went to see one show at the theatre and the entertainment team were very entertaining and funny!

Pools were lovely, very quiet and we had our pool to ourselves pretty much.

It was handy having the shop to buy magazines and snacks and we tried the fish spa - 10 euros for 30 minutes and it was very good - not recommended if you're very ticklish though!

Planes going over the hotel obviously not ideal but not too much of a problem, we laughed about it mostly.

Overall a lovely relaxing holiday, perfect if all you want to do is lounge around, drink and eat.

Had a lovely relaxing week in this hotel in late September. The food was very good, and staff were always smiling and helpful. Hotel was in good order, and quite clean, but was a bit secluded for my liking. I would have give it full marks if the hotel wasn't on the direct flight path for the airport, just a little bit of a pain when snoozing by the pool when a jumbo jet roars overhead for twenty seconds.

Room Tip: Hotel is far more expensive to upgrade your room with, if you want to upgrade, do it with your tour...
