“TOP BEST FAMILY RESORT AROUND THE WORLD”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2011

We decided to go to the Porto Bello Royal in Kos Greece as it was highly recommended by our friends. We have traveled around the world to many different countries and destinations so we took their suggestion and went to check it out for ourselves.
We were a group of 5 adults and 5 children with ages that ranged from 2,5 to 62 years of age. When it comes to family vacations, traveling with the kids can be a disaster or a delight I feel. Much of this depends on the destination and what the place you stay has to offer. The property was super clean and the staff was very friendly. The beach available to us was crystal clear and our children enjoyed all the water sports available from the talented Mr. Kostas. Although the hotel was “All Inclusive” the variety of restaurants and the quality of food was fabulous! Mr. Antonis was super polite and always there to greet us before he would find us a beautiful table at every meal time. The surrounding area was safe for our children to walk around the premises alone and feel independent. The children were also entertained by daily activities such as Yoga, a variety of children appropriate shows such as the "Michael Jackson Tribute" (which us adults also enjoyed) and comedy act, mini disco, snorkeling, and much more. Our children made use of the gelateria, children club where arts and crafts, sing along to fun rhymes, and children water slides were staffed and available at all times. We knew we made the right choice when we saw the look of pure enjoyment on our children’s' face. On the last day they didn't want to leave and wanted to stay there forever!
For us adults it was just as great as we enjoyed the luxury and elegance of the Porto Bello Royal, our room was cleaned and tidied up twice a day! The weather and surroundings allowed us to really relax. It is really the perfect family destination. We were there for 5 days and didn’t get to use everything the hotel had to offer although we didn’t leave the premises from the time we landed until it was time to go back to the airport. We will definitely go again to explore the island more on our next trip and look forward to spending a wonderful quality vacation with our family and friends. We returned well rested and full of wonderful memories!

I would gladly rate this as one of the top best family resorts around the world.

Room Tip: Ask for the lower level suite as you will have your own private entrance to the swimming pools. (Fo...

Very nice hotel, well laid out and with amazing views. The all inclusive concept is pretty generous here with a number of restaurants plus 3 bars open until 1am serving a vast range of drinks including 2 pages of lovely cocktails. Slightly annoying that they don't include bottles of water but it was quite easy to refill bottles at the bars. Unlike some other all inclusive hotels in Greece, the beach area here is really welcoming with free sunbeds, a full service beach bar with lunchtime snacks and even free use of pedaloes and kayaks.
The food was pretty good, with a main buffet restaurant, plus Greek, Fish, Italian and Asian. Aside from the Asian (which we didn't bother with), the other restaurants are still all buffet, but they made a change from eating in the same place. It's a shame that the Greek & Fish are only open at lunchtime, and as they need to be booked a day before, you really do need to plan your days if you intend to try them.
The staff are generally very good, a number of very efficient waiters and waitresses in all restaurants, however we did feel that the bars were often understaffed as there were often quite long queues for drinks.
Room was very spacious, a little plain perhaps but had a decent flat screen TV & minibar/fridge. Would normally expect to have bathrobes & slippers in a 5* hotel; perhaps the more expensive rooms had them?
Overall a very nice place to stay and despite the small niggles, I would visit again. It would be nice to see them sort out the few issues mentioned above, then this really would be a perfect holiday hotel!

Just returned from our second stay at the Portobello Royal found it to be as amazing as we thought the first time, the cleanest hotel we've been to all the staff take a great amount of care over everything and proved really helpful on a couple of occasions such as when the Asian restuarant was fully booked as we'd asked 2 days in a row they said they'd sort us out and did. Also as Facebook friends we got towels with no deposit, little things but they make it 5 star.

Food was brilliant so much variation each day, the Greek for lunch was my favourite with mixed grills and kebabs. The Asian and Italian in the evening were stunning as was the main restuarant every day, couldn't fault it in any way.

Pools/entertainment. 13 pools to choose from, what more do I need to say never found it hard to get a sunbed or the beach would be free. Pools immaculately clean and never too busy either. Played water polo and football which were a laugh, yes most of the talk was in Italian so didn't really understand but can still have a good time.

Overall we're already looking to work out how quickly we can return, would have liked to stay for 2 weeks rather than 1. Book it up asap you'll have a great time guaranteed.

We have just returned from a second stay at the Porto Bello Royal, after having such a fantastic time there last year. I have to say it didn't disappoint and I know sometimes going to the same place twice is not quite the same.
The same staff members were there again this year and even recognised us and made us feel so welcome again.
We even got the same room as last year (no 316) after e-mailing the hotel before travelling, to request it. This was a standard double sea view room, but really did have wonderful full sea views.
You really are spoilt with having 12 pools to choose from at this hotel and eventhough a big group of 200 italians celebrating a company's 50th anniversary arrived half way through our holiday, you still always had a choice of sunbeds and the hotel never felt full.
The british are definately in the minority at this hotel with italians and germans making up the majority, but we don't mind this at all, as they are all friendly.
Yes, the hotel is on the flight path for Kos Airport but this did not bother us one bit.
We would definately recommend this hotel to anybody and would love to go back for a third time, as we feel we have definately been spoilt here and checking out other hotels just can't compare to this one. We just need to save up now!!!!
BOOK IT, YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!!!

Where to start? The hotel is clean, modern, well decorated, the staff are excellent. The facilities are superb - 12 outdoor pools, and indorr pool, private beach, water sports, gym. I simply couldn't fault it!
We had booked a twin room and walked in to find we had a suite with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, two tvs, fully stocked minibar, cd player, double balcony. I guess my only criticism is that the restaurany gets a lillte crowded at peak times in the evening which means you have to queue to get in, but there are other a la carte restaurants that can be booked, or eating later misses the worst of it.

This hotel is great - from arriving to leaving we received the 5 star treatment!

We had a junior suite overlooking the sea which was perfect - spacious room with a big bed. Nice bathroom and shower. The room was cleaned everyday - new towels and fresh sheets.

The restaurants were even better. My fav was the Greek - you can go here at lunchtime and its amazing. Also the asian restaurant was very nice. The main buffet was great - different themes every day so the food is always changing - American, Italian, Greek etc

There are 13 pools with lots of sunbeds which is useful. The weather was amazing - 10 days of blue sky.

The entertainments not that great but its ok. The service is brilliant and all the staff work really hard.

If you stay here you will not regret it!

I have just returned from our holiday with my Uncle and his wife. We had a lovely junior suite each overlooking the sea.The pools are great never crowded although people still feel the need to reserve their sunbeds albeit notices saying the pools are checked twice a day and towels removed. It is a very quiet resort and yes it is in the flight path but it certainly didn't bother us.If people were to research and read the brochures they do state this. The staff we found were all very polite and helpful from the waiters to the management. made us all very wecome
The Food we found very good with a big variety, liked the Asian, and the Italian and the Greek restaurant. What a shame its only open for lunch fantastic views.
We will definately go back and would I recommend it YES I would. Dont be too put off by some of the bad reviews go you won't be disappointed. Not sure what some people expect!!
Our flight home was cancelled and we were put overnight in a 5* Iberostar Panarama but the food ect was far more superior here with much more choice. ENJOY.
