Just got back from a week at this great hotel! Very very clean, Maid service every day, excellent location. Staff were excellent, pool is lush, plenty ov beds no fighting for one as usual!! Had a brilliant time. Love the place, close to the main strip ov restaurants & a few bars, not close enough to bother you! Highly recommend this place.

We booked this holiday a month in advance after deciding that Kalamaki sounded like a good resort to stay - a week in the sun, not far from the airport and with all amenities nearby. I will admit, it was a bit of a shock at first to realise how near to the airport we actually were, 2-3kms to be exact, and for the first couple of mornings when the planes start taking off at 5.30am, you do wonder what's going on! After a couple of days though you do get used to it and becomes a bit of a novelty. Having said that, it you think it's going to bother you then don't stay here because Kalamaki does run literally parallel to the runway! The good side to this is that on arrival, we were through immigration, bags picked up, dropped off at our hotel and looking for our first evening meal within an hour of landing in Zante! Pelouzo itself was generally good - the pool, pool bar and surrounding area was perfect and spotlessly clean with plenty of sun loungers. The two blokes behind the bar and woman in the kitchen very friendly. The room was fine - basic and clean. Our only gripes were that the previous occupants were evidently chain smokers because the room reeked of fags and the hand-held shower was crap. Other than that, it was fine. The beach is nearby, get there early to put towels on a sun lounger because there aren't that many with it being turtle-protected. Nice beach but only one choice of restaurant/cafe for lunch and snacks. Good choice of restaurants for evening meals in Kalamaki, our favourites included Ambrosia and Escape. The Italian restaurant above the car rental place is also very good. Rent a car if you can because the north and north east of the island are very pretty with nice beaches. Keri Beach in the south has lovely clear waters but a pebble beach. All in all, this week holiday ticked all the places for sun, sand, sea and good food but i probably wouldn't go back.

It met with all our expectations, the studios were very spacious for our family, third time back in kalamaki and am presently looking to book again for next august at the same place. Makis and all his family are wonderful people, Lucas and Christos were superb tending to all our liquid needs !!!
Can't wait to get back there next year !

Stayed at the pelouzo for a week in July 2009 on bed and breakfast basis which i would not recommend as the breakfast is poor and you need to pay for a fridge! We had to pay around 90 euros for the fridge and the aircon for the week. wen we first arrive the reception was nice alothough the receptionist was not as nice. At first sight of the room we noticed how basic it was as there was no hair dryer or iron. not even avalible through resception. also our fridge didnt work as the plug was hanging out the wall, but tht was resolved in a day. it didnt have a bath and the bathroom flooded easily when using the shower. the rooms were meant to be cleaned daily but i spilt irn bru on thw 3 night and the floor was still orange and sticky the day we left! the towels only get changed twice a week which isnt very nice :(. The pool and the pool bar were amazing. There was always a free sunlounger. the pool bar was run by realy nice guys and you could get amazing cocktail. the best one was called purple rain!. the pool was an amazing way to cool down after sun bathing as it was between 42 and 46 degrees when we were there :). the hotel is only a short walk to the main bars and resturants. also a short walk to the beach with a shop on the way there to get icelollys! we bot lilos and a sun umbrella as there isnt many on the beach due to turtles laying there eggs on the beach!!! during the day for food we ate at the pool bar or at the drunk corner sports bar as they did great breakfasts! we ate in a few different places at night but the best places were heavens kitchen and artemis resturant. one the first night we tryed a few different bars but the best was Venue with great entertainment and the best cocktails at only 2.50 euros each. we ended up in there every nite! we booked our tours with Tez and we really enjoyed the yellow submarine turtle sightseeing but we did a full day cruise of the island and we were very dissapointed!. we also went to laganas one night but got very harrased off the PRs and just got a taxi back to kalamiki. The PRs in kalamiki can be annoying too but eventually they remember you and dont ask you to come in the pubs!:) the worst part of the holiday was wen we got delayed 30 hours coming home but we still had a great time and would go back just for the steaks out of heavens kitchen !!!!! :):D xxxx

all in all the pelouzo was a good hotel. the self catering rooms were large unlike the b&b rooms which were much smaller. the hotel has a great pool and lovely pool bar run by friendly staff. I would recommend staying at this hotel as it has a lovely central location, the main strip is not far (nor too close), and the beach is only a short walk away. there are also many shops close by, and lots of shops on the strip selling great gifts to bring home. There is not really any entertainment in this hotel but there is in the one next door. Also i wouldn't describe the hotel as luxury but it is clean (maid service everyday) and equipped with all you may need. The weather was lovely in july, very, very hot as there was a heatwave just as we arrived, we only stayed for a week but would recommend staying longer as is a great place to go.
i would reccomend hiring quad-bikes for about 30 euros and touring the island its great fun and a good way to see some lovely views of zakynthos.

Pelouzo is in a fairly central location. The beach is about a 10 minute walk and the main shops/restaurants are 5 mins. The room we had which was on the third floor was very nice with high ceilings. However, there is no lift so you have had to lug your luggage up the 3 flights of stairs. When we first walked in there was a nasty drainage smell. The bathroom was tiny and had a hole/grid in the floor for the excess water from the shower. Whenever you run the shower or tap water just overflowed from the grid which had a very pungent smell. We reported it and it was fixed within 2 days. Because we were flooded we had to use some towels to mop up what had gone into the living area. When we asked for some clean ones we were told that the cupboard was locked and couldn't be accessed. They said they changed the towels 3 times per week, however ours were only changed twice and the second time was the day before we left. The rooms weren't kept very clean to be honest. The lady who does the morning reception (effichea) is very nice, the other receptionist is not so nice! The pool area is good, plenty of room and the bar served nice cool drinks and the two lads behind the bar were really nice. Bar food was really good too. Breakfast was simple but ok. All in all a good enough place to stay for a break away. Air conditioning was 49 euros per week and safe deposit 14 per week. I don't know how much the fridge was.

What can i say - its my second year to Kalamaki and it hasnt changed a bit!!!!!

I travelled with 8 friends both male and female all in our late twentys to this hotel on Self catering for 2 weeks - the weather was amazing!!!!

The hotel itself is very clean and tidy and the rooms are of standard size - unless you are lucky to get a 3 bedded room, it was huge, there was 2 normal beds and a very comfy camp bed (same size as the normal beds) if your on self catering you wont need to pay for the fridge, only the air con at €7 a day

The BEST part of our stay at this hotel had to be the BAR - it was run by a man called LUCAS and his helper CHRIS
We have never had so many laughs as we had with them, from 9am Chris was in the bar ready to take our breakfast orders - €5 for a full english and a cuppa, it was great food !!!! Everything was cooked fresh.

They had a great selection of drinks to choose from and if you didnt know what you wanted Lucas would surprise you with a fantastic cocktail that would keep you coming back for more.
Or you could try a "Cheeky Lucas" - apparently contains enough for 8 cocktail glasses and thats all you will need, i never tried one myself but ive had a few of Lucus's concoctions and im sure what ever he will make you will be on the floor.

The atmosphere around this bar is very laid back but at the same time full of life,
Lucas hosts a Greek night every Monday - for €12 you will get a huge BBQ dinner of chicken or pork with chips and salad, with home made meatballs and sausage - Greek dancers and flame throwers, me and the gang were always up dancing and i think we managed the "zorbas" dance quite well and became quiet profesional in it by the end of the holiday
It was my friend Jill's birthday whilst on holiday and Lucas went to so much trouble in organising a cake and decorations for her - she really appreciated it - Thanks Lucas!!!
My compliments to Lucas, Chris and Mama for a job well done with the bar and pool at the pelouzo

Nightlife in Kalamaki is great fun with bars (some turn into small nightclubs after 12pm) and restaurants
the best resturant by far is the AMBROSIA on the Kalamaki strip, The manager is also called Chris and my husband and i met him last year and he remembered us straight away.
The menu ranges from egg and chips to your more traditional greek dishes like Lamb Kleftiko - we all went there about 8 times for dinner during our stay, they make a magnificent home made bread that you are given free as a starter, all the staff there are real friendly and again would drag us up to dance
we never had a bad meal there - i would personally reccommend the Lobster Spagetti or the Sea Bream - as there were 9 of us the bill was usually about €20 each and thats with a tip aswell - they do the best Milkshakes also
No other restuarant compares to the Ambrosia - trust me you will try it once and will keep going back for more!!!!

The hotel is about a 10 minute stroll to the beach - my tip would be to buy a lilo and a parasol (only about €7 as they do not have many on beach due to the protection of the turtles)
the lilo is good to lay on as well as to spot the odd turtle (get a see through one for better vision) We were out on the lilos quiet far from the beach one afternoon between 4-6pm (best time to spot them) and if you are really lucky and lay still they will come up aroound you to take some air - its the most amazing sight i have ever seen.

PLEASE do not book trips with your travel agent as they are SOOOO expensive, go to the local ones on the strip they will give you discounts if you book more than one with them - i found that Tez tours was good, we went horse riding, to the waterpark and 2 half day excusions on boats
Also hire Quad bikes -its the only way to see the island

there is so much to say about this place - im looking again to book up i just cant get enough of it

Just one more thing ........ GO AND SEE LUCAS AT THE PELOUZO HOTEL YOU WILL ALL BE WELCOME, you will see our crazy pictures up at the bar from teh greek night - we were all dressed up in our T-shirts with pink caps on and make up (boys wore blue makeup)
FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!
THANKS AGAIN LUCAS SEE YOU NEXT YEAR
