Could not fault the Meandros. Nicely located away from the main road but handy for the bars and restaurants. Excellent fried breakfast. Excellent food in the evening, great choice. Rooms spacious, with lovely balconies. Maid service excellent. All staff very friendly and helpful. Kids and adults kept entertained by Mario and Jason. Lovely pool area. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Had a second floor room which was excellent and some were even better.

We stayed at the Meandros during the May half term with my partner and young son (aged 7). The staff were so friendly and helpful, we got the impression that nothing was too much trouble for them. Mario and Jason really made our holiday fun.

The facilities were lovely and clean and our room was spacious and cool. The pool was beautiful and the entertainment just right.

My son had the best holiday, literally sobbing on the way home telling the pilot to turn the plane around so he could go back.

If you go on one trip please make sure it's the turtle experience, that was absolutely amazing and certainly a highlight of our trip. The cave bar opposite was also great to watch the sunset listening to chilled out vibes.

Well where to start...

We booked directly through the hotels website and I would definitely recommend doing this, as its fantastic value. It's less than 10 minutes from the airport and only about €13 - but if you book directly, the hotel get someone to collect you!!

The welcome; We were greeted by a very sweet receptionist and another lady who I believe was the Manager. They were both so welcoming and we were even greeted with a complimentary cocktail. They gave us all the info we needed and showed us to our room.

The room;
When booking, I mentioned it was mine and my partners anniversary and because of this, they upgraded us to a suite!!! Now, I can't say they would always be able to do that, but it was a lovely gesture and surprise.
The room was spacious, with a huge bath (with shower in it), hair dryer, t,v, cupboard that opened out with a kitchenette inside (the fridge was so handy!) and a lovely balcony overlooking the pool. Very clean, nice decor and modern.

The food; We were half board and breakfast was lovely every day. Pastries, cereal, full English, fruit .... It was a buffet style with a chef there cooking up fresh bacon, pancakes etc.
We had dinner twice. The first was a Greek night outside (with Greek musicians and entertainment). The food was gorgeous!! Great selection of cold salads and hot dishes. The other night we ate in, was a buffet style inside in the resturant which was good too. I personally like eating out in different restaurants, so the other nights we went to local restaurants.

The hotel; Clean, modern, beautiful view of the hills, lovely pool, nice bar area, lovely restaurant, close to beaches / restaurants / supermarkets but remains quiet and peaceful, plenty of sunbeds and you are made to feel special.

Location; Supermarket 3 minutes walk, beach 10 minutes, bars and restaurants literally round the corner about 5 mins away. It's nearer enough to everything you need, but you don't feel right in amongst it all.
Kalamaki is a lovely town (I stayed in Tsilivi last year) and I would recommend it for couples of all ages and also families. Young groups of girls or guys, it's near enough to Laganas (the young party strip of bars and clubs) just jump in a taxi for about €8 or €10 euros from what I remember.

The staff; A big mention and thank you to Mario, Panos, Jason (not sure of the Greek spelling of this name - works on the bar), these boys work SO hard and make everyone feel special, make sure everyone is happy, laughing and entertained. Please pass our love and thanks on to them (Jay and Pippa) we miss them lots.
The whole team at the hotel in general are fantastic, from the waiters, chefs, cleaners, receptionists, I could go on. I work in a hotel, so I fully appreciate it is hard work and long hours - but Meansros, you have a WONDERFUL team.

To anyone reading this, if you are considering staying there... I am SO particular and critical of hotels and can honestly say this place is fantastic. I don't have one bad word to say (and I'm not afraid to write a bad review!). Stay here,
I promise you that you won't be disappointed!

Much love and thank you for a perfect week!

Where do you start with a review of this hotel? The location? Spot on!! Hotel? Clean and tidy, food was plentiful for us , room was HUGE!! but i think the biggest prize this hotel has to offer is the staff!! From bottom to top they are without doubt the best i have ever come across. These people go out of there way to make your holiday the best. Special thanks for a great week must go to Mario ( and no i am not the hotel inspector Mario, he he), Jason, Peter and Maria. You made our stay a perfect one. While there take a trip down the road to see Kevin in the Oceanic bar. Guy is an absolute gem!!Ask for any cocktail and he will make it.Great prices too. Will try and get back soon to the Meandros and we don't say that often.

Just returned from holiday having spent 10 nights at the Meandros. From start to finish we cannot believe the wonderful treatment we received from all the staff. Fantastic welcome on arrival from Dina, Peter and Jason. Our room 205 was huge and we were surprised to find that it included a fridge, hob, air con and kettle as we had booked half board. The restaurant is very contemporary and provides a lovely venue where you can enjoy the wonderful selection of meals on offer both for breakfast and dinner. The pool and bar area are maintained immaculately and provide a beautiful setting to enjoy a lazy day around the pool and Maria takes wonderful care of you during the day and the night entertainment provided by Jason and Mario each evening is excellent. As one of our party had pre-warned the staff that it was my 50th they had provided a surprise drink and gift in our room and even presented a lovely cake at our evening meal all of which helped make this a memorable trip. Massive thanks from the gang to all the Meandros Staff who work incredible hard from morning to night to ensure that all guests have an amazing stay. Hope to return next year but in the meantime lots of love from Frank, Sharon, Linda, Pete, Ben and Zoe xxxxxxxx

Spent a week here in May, was a great hotel to stay really friendly helpful staff, good food and relaxing place. The rooms have a minty kitchenette within would've been nice to have some tea/coffee supplied and coffee available with the evening meal. The location is perfect away from the Main Street but with alternative restaurants and bars either side of the main entrance. Would definitely return.

We have just arrived back from the best holiday of our lives!
So, I would like to leave quite a detailed review to help all who might be considering this hotel.
We arrived on 16/May 2013 to a lovely warm welcome from staff after a short taxi ride from airport (5 mins 13 Euros) Plenty of taxi's right outside the airport all charging the same price.
There were 4 in our party - my wife Lynda & myself (Pete) and Lynda's sister Sharon and partner Frank (ages 40 - 55) and then Sharon's son Ben & partner Zoe (20 - 23) joined us a couple of days later.
Quick sign in and then personally shown to our rooms.
I had emailed Katrina a few months ago with some requests and were so happy that she was able to fulfill them!
It was Sharon's birthday the day before and I had asked if the hotel could perhaps provide a little special welcome on arrival as a surprise for Sharon and we were certainly not disappointed - lovely bottle of champagne and gift waiting in the room - Katrina thank you so much for sorting that , Sharon was over-whelmed.
That was the start of a fantastic holiday!
All the staff were soooooo friendly - Jason, Peter (Mad) Mario, Maria & Dina and by the end of the holiday we felt like we would be leaving our own family behind.
The rooms where lovely - big spacious and nicely furnished with air-con, small kitchenette unit, fridge, balcony, tv, hair-dryer.
We were staying half board and must admit the food was lovely nice breakfast (I have previously read some reviews saying quite basic with no variety but how much variety can you expect at breakfast? Plenty of drinks to choose from, Eggs boiled, fried and omelette, sausage beans, tomatoes, mushrooms bacon, breads cereals pastries fruit - what more can you ask for?
Evening meals were also lovely with something different everyday and an outside Greek night with barbecue and fantastic Greek dancing singing night every Friday - definitely not to be missed.
Our next surprise was a big birthday cake for Sharon brought to our table that evening and everybody singing happy birthday!
The outside Pool-side bar was a lovely area, plenty of tables and chairs and great service with music playing everyday catering for all types - just ask and they can find anything for you.
Pool area was spacious with beds always available, large pool and jacuzi, also a gym room, free internet.
The beginning of May is a quiet time so although there were plenty of bars, cocktail bars, taverna's and restaurants, they were all fairly peaceful but still, great for some chilling meals and drinks which can go on to early morning hours!
Laganas is only a short taxi ride away if you want something more hectic/wild.
The Meandros is at one end of Kalamaki but all bars restaurants are within a minute or two walk - perfect location - could not be better.
Eating out was reasonably priced - you can get a Pita Gyros Snack just round the corner for 2 Eoros, 6 - 10 Euros for plenty of other meals, 10 - 18 Euros for steaks, Local beer - Mythos (nice lager) ranging from 2 - 4 Euros, small bottle water at hotel was only 0.50.
Quad bikes are very popular at Kalamaki and can be rented for 20 - 25 Euros for the day - great to get around the island on.
Beaches at Kalamaki are not great but there is a lovely beach close by - St Nicholas Beach with a free bus just round the corner from Meandros everyday, pay 4E for bed and get free bus back.
Back to the Hotel Staff - I can not praise them enough - they made this holiday the best we have ever had.
Mario is a lunatic (a lovely one!) Jason, Peter great, Maria, Dina absolutely lovely.
It is these people that put this hotel way above all others that we have experienced.
They can not do enough for you and treated us all like family.
It was this friendly attitude that seemed to bond all holiday makers together and we met some lovely people - Brian and Barbara, Neil & Amanda, Collin & Julie, Glynn and Bettie, Mick and wife and lots more - If any of you guys read this then a big thank you to you all for making this holiday so special.
Anyone who gets an opportunity to book in at this hotel then take it - you will have a fantastic time!
