“That liitle bit of Greek heaven”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

We travelled to the Garden village in October half term week. Myself, my wife and our seven year old. Well to be honest I dont have much to add to all the other excellent reviews really. Superb apartments, excellent location, fabulous staff and service second to none. We have a 'never go back to the same place twice' rule. However if we do go back to Greece, which I am sure we will because we love everthing about it, I dont see any point in going anywhere else other than to the Garden Village. A highlight was the Greek night, great fun and excellent food, especially the Moussaka. Well done to you all.

Kalamaki was very nice, very quiet when we were there, however just the way we wanted it. A handful of bars and restaurants open, a decent choice. The beach was very clean with lovely clear water. We did walk down to Laganas one day and to be honest the beach there was awful. You can walk to Laganas via the beach or the road, either way it is a good 45 min walk. We also walked to Zakynthos town, which took around 90 mins, well worth the walk though. Taxi back was 10 Euro.

Fav restaurants were Heras and Heavens kitchen, 2 x adult meals and a childs meal, with plenty of wine/beer around 40 Euro. The Heavens beef in heavens kitchen is a must try, the 'flaming' Lamb Kleftiko was great too. We did try Zepo's near the beach, great food, a bit more expensive, and take the mossie spray!

All in all, a great 'cheeky' half term week away.

Lived up to and exceeded the reviews I had read before we arrived as one of a group of the 'Last' guests of the season. Carol and all her staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome, relaxed and well looked after. Studio room was top class and the whole complex so peaceful.. As it was end of the season for Zakynthos a lot of places were closed or closed down whilst we were there. Carol put on special evening meals in addition to her usual BBQ night all of which were fabulous and great value. After a long day trip to Olympia we were pampered with a meal served in our room and again on an evening when my Wife was feeling unwell. So nice, so helpful. We would definitely go back.

Warning - not for those seeking boisterous nightlife and playing of load music from own rooms is not appreciated by most guests looking for peace and quiet. The ethos of the place is quiet relaxation and consideration for other guests which is what we wanted.

My Wife having suffered a back problem we emailed in advance of our arrival and Carol made arrangements for extra cushions and pillows to be available which was one of many 'going the extra mile' touches we experienced. No wonder it has won so many awards and so many clients make return visits.

Kalamaki was rapidly becoming a ghost town but we found enough supermarkets etc to supply our needs. The beach is fabulous and despite it being so late in the year we had a wonderful encounter with a Loggerhead Turtle!

Room Tip: We were in room 4 and yes we could hear the local GSD living behind us barking at various times of t...

We arrived in Kalamaki in mid October to find it was a bit of a ghost town and right at the end of the season. However, the quality of the apartments, the cleanliness of the entire complex and, most importantly, the attitude of the staff provided us with a week away to remember.

We travelled as a couple and were given Room 16, a two bed apartment with a distant sea view. It had a large balcony, one bedroom which had two single beds, and one with a double which we used. In addition we had a kitchen with fridge, kettle, toaster etc and a bathroom which contained a better power shower than the one I have at home. The whole place was cleaned every day and was absolutely spotless. There is also good quality air conditioning provided free of charge. The food and drinks on offer at the bar were among the best we had during the week.

Although at this time of year, Kalamaki didn't offer that much to do, it served our needs as we wanted a complete rest for a week, and we were happy going to the beach which is about a 10 minute walk away, or lazing by the pool which was about 10 yards away. Carol the owner never failed to be extremely helpful, particularly when my girlfriend didn't feel very well one evening. Shane behind the bar was like all barmen should be - he became our friend.

A word about the dogs - unfortunately the island has a issue with stray dogs and cats and there is a minor noise issue on occasions. This isn't the resorts fault - it is the island's problem but it really didn't affect us at all. We would definitely go back - we couldn't really fault it.

Room Tip: Room 16 is away from the bar area and has the only view of the sea in the distance from the balcony.

We have just returned from the Village Garden Apartments and were more than happy with the accomadation and setting. Carol, Justine and Shane were so friendly and helpful - made us feel very welcome. The apartment we had was beautiful and roomy - and peaceful; the whole area was kept spotless for all to enjoy. I would recommend this place to everyone - it is lovely. We were blessed with sunny and hot weather which was a bonus as we booked late and knew it was a bit of a risk towards the end of October. Thank you!

Room Tip: Rooms are spacious and the kitchen well equipped, the bathroom was well lit and the shower powerful...

I agree with everyone else on the accommodation and hospitality its beautiful, but be aware due to no fault of Carol's that the dogs next door to the complex can be very noisy and if this is a problem for you it would be best not to be in room 2 and the rooms each side of it.I was in that room and found it kept me awake. Luckily I was moved into another room because it was changeover day, but usually because of the popularity of the place they are full. Its a gorgeous place other than that.

Having read the reviews we were expecting this place to be good but it surpassed our greatest expectations. The place is beautiful with lovely roomy apartments which were spotless. Carol, Justine and Shane were so friendly and welcoming and could not do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble. One of our group celebrated their birthday while we were there and the arrangements Carol made were fantastic making her birthday special. She arranged a trip out, a birthday cake, banners and more. The cake was better than we would have arranged at home. Something for everyone, rest, relaxation and fun... Will definitely be back as this was by far the nicest place we have stayed.
