“Small and Friendly”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

The Roseland Hotel is situated in an relaxing and idylic Greek village where local people are friendly and helpful. The hotel complex is a mere 5 minute walk from the beach. The reception staff at the hotel welcomed us with a warm and cheerful greeting, they offered us if we wanted to pay for additional facilities (such as a safe, refridgerator - and out of summer seasons: air conditioning). The hotel is small and very clean. Given that it's a bed and breakfast, the standard of food is good. We ocassionaly dined during the evening at the hotel, however, in spite the food being at a good standard, some of the kitchen staff could have been more attentive, but moreover friendlier to help us. The bedrooms are adequate and contain the norm. The hotel generally is a spotless environment. We enjoyed our stay at the Roseland Hotel Kalamaki. The price of food and drink is fairly expensive.

Room Tip: Try getting a room on the ground or first floor.

Myself & my husband went to Zante for a relaxing stress free holiday, and that it just what it was. T he Roseland Hotel was lovely. Very clean, the pool was great. our room was great, food was excellant. The friendly staff would chat to you at any time and were most helpful. Dennis the barman makes a mean cocktail. We will definitely be back - hopefully next year!

Really enjoyed our stay at roseland. First time to zante and kalamaki. Rooms were spotless and comfortable. Pool area always kept tidy and always had a bed when needed. Bar/reception area spotless and staff very helpful. Will be booking again for next year.

Our October visit gave us a quiet two weeks and it was very relaxing. The hotel is well managed and everything run like clockwork. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, and the communal areas were useable and kept spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and chatty which made us feel welcome. The hotel is well positioned for the beach but is at the far end of the the main restaurant area which meant a stretch of the legs if you wanted to check out the food at the end of the strip. Also by the middle of October many of the restaurants were closing so the choice of eateries was diminishes. The room was ok and kept clean, and the only issues were the position of the shower head and the smallish beds and bedding. All in all though an excellent h. otel and really good value for money.

Agree entirely with most of the comments made about the Roseland Hotel in Kalamaki. Have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable week on Zante we were really lucky with the weather being a very pleasant 28 degrees all week. The hotel is family run and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Situated just a 10 minute transfer from the airport in a quiet, pleasant side street, aircraft noise is audible but never an issue as it is not constant.
The rooms are basic but clean and tidy as are the public and pool areas. Special mention must go to Dennis the hotel barman, his cocktails are brilliant especially for e2.86 during happy hour which is strangely 3 hours. As the week progressed the cocktails seemed to get stronger!!
Breakfasts were excellent with the choice of traditional greek fayre, meats, cheese, yoghurt fruit and honey etc along with an english buffet style breakfast of cereals, eggs, bacon, sausage and baked beans.
We did not eat in the hotel restaurant but fellow guests reported the food to be very good and reasonably priced.
Kalamaki beach is not the best feature of the place and is apparently shared with Loggerhead turtles, we did not see any during our stay, it is ok for a swim but a much better beach can be found at Gerakas to the SE, a bus ride away. We hired a car for four days and toured around most of the island, the roads and the signposting being typically greek, they have no highway code it would seem so expect the unexpected.
The wide main strip through Kalamaki is home to dozens of tavernas and bars, we ate in a different one each night and did not have a bad meal all week. If I had to pick a favourite it would have to be Michaelo's
Overall a very enjoyable holiday and judging by the number of fellow guests returning for repeat holidays, a good choice.
It is however unlikely that we will return, not because of any shortcomings but simply because there are so many other places to visit.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking hotel the pool area are probably worth seeking out, our room was at the back of th...
