“Great Friendly Hotel”
Reviewed September 16, 2012

This is was our 2nd stay at the Amaryllis and once again didn't let us down. Its in a great location for the beach or the main strip. The hotel and rooms are spotless and the ground well maintained. All the staff are friendly and always smiling.
Rooms are a good size, we were in block D this time and the balcony got the sun first thing in the morning. We prefer the beach so can't comment situation around the pool. We used the snack bar a couple of times which was ok also.
We're already booked for September 2013!!!

Stayed here for two weeks in august. Lovely hotel in a lovely resort. The room we stayed in (c1) was a good size but typicaly greek with minimal cooking equipment and shower which soaks the bathroom. This is what we were expecting as same wherever you stay on the greek islands. The bbq and pool party nights were both great fun and well worth going to. The beach is about a ten minute walk, go out of back gate and walk towards macadonia hotel thwn follow road down. Lovely sandy beach with warm shallow water perfect for my two kids. Only gripe on this holiday was the lack of sunbeds. Ppl would put towels down but not use the sunbeds for hours at a time, leaving us lying on the grass. On one occassion we counted 29 empty sunbeds being reserved. We would stay at this hotel again but not in the too near future as like to travel to different places.

Had a very enjoyable week here. Lovely kind relaxing place, staff are very friendly and helpful, room and communal areas are very clean and well maintained. Very little ambient noise from road or other sources.

Pool bar offers basic, but tasty snacks at very reasonable prices. Breakfast isn't great though.

Bar is very welcoming and staff are very quick and curtious to customers, local beer is served on tap and there are a range of local bottled beers available

Pool area is clean with plenty of sunbeds available at anytime.

Aircon is expensive at €10 a day or €60 for the week, but worth having if on top floor, safety deposit boxes are €17 a week.

Location is a little out of the way, and the immediate road to the hotel is not well lit, but all restaurants and supermarkets range from a 2 minute to a 20 minute walk

On the whole this is a great resort and I would come back without a doubt

Just home from Kalamaki after a week at the Amaryllis. The staff were lovely however when a nearby fire caused a blackout- we were shocked to find our beds infested with ants as the lights came back up.

After complaining, we were told to quote "lay down some poison, turn on the AC and be brave".
We complained to four or five different people throughout the week including the receptionist, the cleaner, our rep, thomson hotline and the barman. Every complaint was shrugged off as I am young and I feel had an older person been present, more effort would have been made to solve the problem. As a result, I spent the week scratching my TWENTY SEVEN ant bites and sleeping on the most uncomfortable mattress known to man. Would never stay there again, nor would I ever book a thomson holiday as long as I live.

Room Tip: Make sure they are cleaned. The ants were there due to chewing gum and crisps UNDER our mattresses o...

Travelled on 2nd August on 6am flight from Cardiff. After a €13 transfer in taxi to hotel (substantially cheaper than Thomson transfers) we arrived to find a chilled atmosphere around pool and a well presented clean apartment. The hotel is ideally located for restaurants and beach (5mins) walk via gate at end of hotel. Beach was crystal clear and beds/umbrella available to hire €6. Lovely warm water to snorkel and swim, ideal off pedalo (€10). No water sports due to turtles nesting. We were lucky and saw a turtle swimming in the sea, beautiful creature. A trip to the shipwreck is a must. Fantastic scenery and the wreck itself is huge and you are able to walk on the structure. Be aware though of 3 hour trip promise. We set out at 9am and did not get back untiil 4pm on DIanna cruise. Not a lot happens at hotel entertainment wise,, although lots of guests call back in evening for quiet drink. Pool table, table tennis and t.v provide entertainment. We were only there for 7 nights and there was a quiz one night and an excellent pool party another. Staff were excellent. They spoke good English and were always smiling and willing to help. We were a family with 2 children aged 12 and 16. Both of them enjoyed the laid back atmosphere and both mixed and made friends to keep them busy. Airport is close by with planes flying over hotel several times a day. However, they did not bother us and we enjoyed looking at them and they stopped at 10.45am. All Restaurants we visited were exellent. However be prepared to spend in excess of £100 on a self catering basis. Special mention to olive tree restaurant, great service and food. Note there an old town strip as well as the main road strip. A trip to Zante town was well worth it, and again a reasonable €10 taxi trip. Plenty of supermarkets to buy provisions, and overall a great place to visit for families and couples. Younger singles stay away you would need We paid for air conditioning €70 per week, but did not really need it. If you are on a budget try it without as there is a daily rate for later in the holiday. Hotel offers free wifi, and there are computers there to use if necessary. Zante airport quick and efficient although not a load of duty free places. Take some food /drink with you as we found the airport expensive. Enjoyable flight back to Cardiff and the HIghwayman parking was there to pick us up (as always on time) before going home to sunny Bryncoch, Neath, Wales

We stayed in Kalamaki in June 2011 after a last minute booking and didnt regret it!
We are do glad we did not go up the road to Laganas where all the bars/clubs/18 year olds are!! This hotel was off the main Kalamaki strip do much less noise but only a 2/3min walk to get there! Loads of restaurants, friendly bars and pubs all within a 20minute walk up the main strip! Reasonable priced food&drink too!
The room: it's basic, tiled floors, standard 2 single beds pushed together, shower not great-tiny not top powerful due to soft water and the curtain was a nightmare so very Wet floor! Also remember to toilet paper can be flushed!!!! Nice sized balcony too.
The hotel: friendly staff, cleaned every day with new towels, kitchenette basic but better than nothing! Disappointed they had no half board options or dining service, only poolside snacks but this is only real negative! Apx 5 mins (slow in heat) down back of hotel to beautiful beach where they look out for their special careta careta turtles! Def take a boat trip to see them! Great time in kalamaki would def come back here!

Went on a family hotel to Kalamaki and found this family run hotel through Tripadvisor. The room was clean and had the basics you'd expect from a Greek holiday. You could get a sunlounger anytime of day (which is something I looked for), and the location is great both for the beach and the nightlife. The pool bar had good value food and the nearest supermarket was only 5 mins away. Only problem I had was the loud kids shouting all the time (and the parents shouting even louder!) I know I was on a family holiday with kids but I like to read and relax, therefore make sure the kids respect other people. Shame some other families don't. but then again, this could happen at any hotel. Be warned though. You are on the flight path to the nearby airport so expect planes and you can hear the people leaving the hotel for the early morning flights, (so take earplugs). But overall, great value for money and not a cloud in the sky!
