“Does your face fit?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 3, 2012

Very nice hotel, clean, quiet (Except the odd jet engine and dogs barking), breakfast was fine.

We arrived at the hotel around 2pm only to find all the sunbeds had towels on them ( not people),
so our party of 5 had NO chance of sitting around the pool,
unfortunately this was our first impression and it led to us spending most days at the Tonia studios pool just up the road, on several occasions it was like we had gatecrashed a grand reunion party.
The reception staff were friendly and the cleaners were spot on..so my only concern was the lack of space around the pool..

At the Venus all “faces” fit and mostly guests that come with a positive attitude. This comment makes it seem that our hotel is restricted and this is not the case AT ALL!

Naturally, and since the hotel was full, at 2pm most sun beds will be taken and as my beloved guests commented that “most” days they spend elsewhere obviously had a few days at our pool as well.

We thank the guests that visited us for their kind words.

Again we here to help in any way possible to accommodate.

I booked directly with the Venus after reading all the positive reviews on tripadvisor. Make sure you book direct, as there are no charges for the extras like the AC, fridge and safe. This was our first visit and upon leaving, my boyfriend said he would be very happy to return next time we visit Zakynthos.

The hotel is attractively presented with a large, tidy pool area and an excellent bar which serves tasty, 3 euro cocktails! (Will certainly miss that price tag now I'm back in the UK). Everything is clean and modern - I guarantee you will be comfortable here. We had a pool view room at the front (which I asked for) and it was fairly spacious with a nice balcony near a waving palm tree.

We slept well every night (apart from the mosquito bites), as the air con is highly effective at cooling down the room. The bathroom was clean and the shower always hot. Towels are changed as regularly as you specify.

We found the hotel to be situated perfectly - off Kalamaki's main strip, but close enough that everything is only a short walk away. There are spaces outside to park a hire car if you have one.

I'm afraid I can't comment on the lunch or dinner as we spent our days exploring the island and then eating out at night, but the menu looked as if it had something for everyone. Breakfast was pretty similar every day, but there was plenty of choice, so that you could have hot or cold food according to taste. This hotel is a favourite with the British, so expect baked beans, bacon, eggs, sausages and toast. But there was also Greek yoghurt, honey, pancakes, muesli and cereals.

All in all, we had an exceedingly pleasant stay. If you like hotels and don't mind being surrounded with fellow Brits, then this is the place to go in Kalamaki. On a side note, the town is a great base for exploring the island and is only a short 5 minute ride from the airport.

Room Tip: Take a room at the front - I believe they have the best views. Ours was 311.

My girlfriend and I have just returned from the beautiful Zakynthos where we had the pleasure of staying at the Venus Hotel in Kalamaki. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly smile and warm service by the hotel staff, they promptly signed us in and let us know where our room was. The room had a great view of the hotel pool and dining area and was very tidy. The hotel staff were knowledgeable about where to find the local provisions as well as car hire and restaurants around the area.
Fantastic drinks from the main bar and incredibly well priced, friendly atmosphere by the bar staff that made you feel relaxed. The hotel is situated about 10 minutes walk from the Kalamaki Beach (home of the turtles) which boasts some very nice views.

Definitely will be returning to this resort. Thank you very much Hotel Venus. -Marcus

Room Tip: Ask for the pool view, makes for a lovely place to see planes landing.

Have returned from Zante last week. This is our second stay at the Venus.
Again a good value, all round family run hotel.
This time we had a pool view room with the evening sunshine on our balcony.
They've improved the beds with memory foam mattrasses. A comfy nights sleep.
Breakfasts are good, especially the hot pancakes!
Management know what the Brits like and they deliver.
September, for us was probably better than June with a good mix of older people.
Yes we would recommend this hotel and we probably will return..again!
Found an excellent restaurant in the Essence...

Room Tip: Pool view for evening sunshine

We have recently returned from a 14 night holiday at the Venus Hotel and can honestly say that it was one of the best holidays we have ever had. This is the first time we had been to Kalamaki, or indeed Zakynthos, but it certainly won't be the last as we have already booked our room with Nick for next year.

Although the Venus is a 3* hotel, the service you receive from Nick and his wonderful family and staff is nothing short of 7*. All staff members were helpful, courteous, cheerful and a credit to the hotel.

Our room was on the top floor, which we had requested by e-mail to Nick a couple of weeks prior to our arrival. It was spacious, clean and more than adequate to spend a couple of weeks in. The bed was extrememely comfortable and the powerful shower was heaven. We paid for a safe and air conditioning and this came as no surprise as it clearly stated in the Thomson's brochure - we have booked direct for next year so these things will then come as standard.

We did have a problem one night with some guests next door to us who decided to have an impromptu party at about 1am, deafening us in the process. I phoned down to reception and within a couple of minutes there was a knock on next door and then silence. The next day, Barbara on reception phoned us to follow up on the complaint and assure us that the offending guests had been spoken to and if it happened again they would be moved on. It's very reassuring that problems like this are dealt with swiftly, with no fuss, and are monitored - another example of the fabulous service you get from the Venus.

With regard to the hotel food, we found breakfast more than satisfactory, with an amazing array of food to choose from at the buffet and the added bonus of eggs being cooked fresh on request. Having been to many Greek hotels, this was a veritible banquet compared to some we've stayed in. I really cannot see why some guests think there is no choice!

We only at in the hotel once as we wanted to try out some of the local restaurants, but the food and service were excellent and we will definately be using the hotel restaurant more next year. Although we did go to the amazing "steak out" twice during our stay and were knocked out by the size and quality of the steaks - a brilliant night rounded off with the amazing vocals of the "soul man of Kalamaki", Richie Valadez.

Outside of the hotel, some restaurants we would recommend are Escape, Michalos and Dias. I would steer clear of the restaurants on the strip where they try to entice you in, as they are not value for money. If you spend your days on the beach like we do, then the best place for lunch is the caravan parked just before you go onto the beach. Run by the lovely Tassos, you can get amazing pasta salads, hot and cold baguettes with an array of fillings, crisps, drinks and ice-creams. Everything is made fresh (even the pasta for the salads) and it is brilliant value for money. You can even give Tassos your order as you go down to the beach to pick up later.

All in all, thanks mostly to Nick and his amazing staff, especially to Andy and Spiros behind the bar who are really genuine guys and also the lovely Barbara on reception, we had a truly wonderful holiday. We made some great new friends, who we are staying in contact with - in fact we have all just booked at the same time for next year so we can repeat the experience. We all can't wait until then - only another 11 months!!

We've just got from the Venus Hotel 20/09/2012, this was our 4th visit there now and as always have had a brilliant time. (its nice to see old friends as well as new ones). The hotel is perfectly situated as its only about 150 yds from the main strip with all the bars and restuarants you could wish for, there is also a sports bar, a restuarant and a small supermarket right next door.
The Breakfast are very good with ample choice for everyone's taste, and the snack bar and restaurant at the hotel are very good value.
We always book the hotel and flights seperately which means that you get air con, safety box and fridge included in the price so there are no hidden charges when you get there, the rooms are quite spacious and even have a bath and shower, and are spotless.
May i say thanks again Nick, Spiros and all the family, also all the staff from the cleaners, waitresses and reception staff for another fantastic holiday. See you all soon.
