Me and my partner stayed here for 2 weeks starting from the 5th of June and it was absolutely amazing. Every day we spent at Ionion Blue was full of fun and laughter not only with other holiday makers but also the staff. The staff are so welcoming and are always available if you had any questions about the hotel or the local area. We mainly spoke a lot and got on very well with the lovely lady Katerina who checked us in when we arrived. She was very friendly and always asking if we was okay making sure everything was fine. The room we stayed in was a basement room and was perfect for our 14 night stay. It was very clean and perfect. Plenty of people say the 3rd or 4th floor is better for the views of the balcony which I may believe be true for the views, but we had no problems what so ever staying in the basement room. It was easier for going out as you wouldn't have all the stairs and also its just a little jump over the wall in the morning to get your towels out on the beds! The pool area is very nice and kept clean and the bar is lovely at night for a few drinks and laughs. The hotel is situated in a lovely area with local restaurants and bars a short 5 minute walk from the hotel and the beach a 5 minute walk in the opposite direction. We loved it so much here that we are very close to booking our second holiday this year to Ionion Blue in September.

We stayed at the start of June, fab weather. Had one of the basement rooms but it wasn't a problem, not as bad as previous reviews have said, usual Greece self catering, which is always basic but clean and everything you need. Just no view from your terrace.
Have been to Kalamaki 6 times now as we love it but it is very quiet so not a place you want to party but for a great beach, excellent food and relaxing time it is perfect. Got the holiday through Thomson at an excellent price and great flight times. Will return.

We have just returned from our honeymoon after staying at the Ionion Blue for 11 nights. The staff here are just as lovely as the place itself. We have had a fantastic time here thanks to the kindness shown to us. The hotel is in a great location, we had a lovely room looking out to sea. We have eaten out every night and had the most wonderful food and hospitality. Stani Taverna is a lovely night out with beautiful views of the moutain. Try Crystal beach hotel for a beer and watch the sun set it really is very special. Cave bar is another great location for a few drinks on an evening. There are many Greek restaurants serving beautiful home cooked food we have eaten so well. We will certainly be returning to this hotel and would recommend to anyone (just avoid the basement rooms). We have tried our hand at speaking Greek in the restaurants and at the hotel and this is very much appreciated by them and a wondeful language. Thank you to all the staff at Ionion Blue, you have a lovely little piece of the world.
P.S don't just stick to Kalamaki, hire a vehicle and venture around the island it is booootiful! Keep up the good work Ionion Blue we loved it.

We had seen the hotel while we were in Kalamaki last year and decided if we were going to go back we would try this hotel. I had read a few reviews and hoped we wouldn't be on the ground floor (some people didn't like these rooms) anyway we arrived at lunch time and the maid had just finished cleaning the room, which was on the ground floor! It had a funny smell and was quite dark, I asked if we could change rooms and the lady on reception explained that they clean with vinegar and that may explain the smell. We left the doors open while we unpacked and must admit after a while the smell did go. The hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes to the main strip and 10 minutes to Stani beach (which has the best taverna on it). The pool area is clean and there are plenty of sunbeds (which the British like to put towels on at 7.30am). We had lunch one day round the pool, it was only a sandwich but it was lovely. The bed linen and towels were a little threadbare but clean. We didn't have very hot water for most of our week evan though we had showers at different times in the evenings. I would stay at this hotel again but would try and ask for a higher floor at the time of booking.

Room Tip: ask for any floor except the ground floor

We spent a week here in May and had the most restful and enjoyable holiday. We took note of previous reviews and requested a high floor. We had room 410 on the 4th floor. The room wasn't overlooked by any other studios and afforded a lovely view of the fields that were being harvested. It was quite spacious and had all the necessary amenities for self catering. There are several supermarkets in walking distance if you want to buy in, which we did. All had a good selection of bread, olives, cheeses - typical Greek fare. There was no contrived evening entertainment so it was possible to sit on your balcony with a glass of wine and enjoy the peace. We went out to eat in the evening and tried Michaelos, Lambros and Escape. Despite the first being recommended to us, we found it a bit rushed and insincere. The staff at Lambros were lovely and great at recommending wine. There is a small pool at the studios that catches the sun most of the day. Again, very quiet with no loud music or over-excited children. There were several families with very young children and babies, and I think this is ideal for them. The beach is a leisurely 10 minute stroll away and has lots of dunes and hideaway places where you won't be disturbed. The sea remains shallow for some distance so is good for children. If you want noise, music and liveliness, go to Laganas. For a quiet relaxing break, Ionion Blue is perfect.

Room Tip: Choose a higher room for the views and more privacy
