I stayed in Tambuti Lodge for one night on a business trip. I immediately loved the furniture - there are solid wood furniture everywhere, wooden decks, wood carvings, wooden cabinets, you name it. It gives the place a wonderful atmosphere. The garden is magnificent, there is a deck overlooking the river, a swimming pool, and intricate walkways between the rooms. The staff was very friendly.

The rooms are clean and stylishly decorated. Everything is simple, but cosy.

I had an issue with the air-conditioning in my room not working. I pointed this out the next day. I only stayed one night, so I don't know if they fixed it, but they did end up charging me for the less expensive non-aircon rooms, which I appreciated.

A beautiful garden. Well situated, close to town with a view over the Kavango river. Interesting activities. A rare place where you can get not only delicious local food and drinks but also local made honey, jam, peanut butter and other products. And last but not least it's all accompanied by a very choice of good music.
We loved it and will definitely go back!

We stayed at Tambuti Lodge for ten days with our 2-years-old daughter and I would have liked to stay even much longer. How to describe best a place where you really felt at home? The owners - Patrick from Luxemburg and Lizza from Namibia plus their two daughters - welcomed us with warm and friendly hospitality. Owners and staff took time to get to know us, have a chat and tell us about the region and about Namibia. Our daughter made immediately friends with the owners' daughters.

The lodge is situated next to "Rundu Beach", a sandy part of the riverbank, the view over the river is very beautiful. The lodge itself is very clean and well kept. It is part of the lodge's philosophy to cultivate regional flowers and trees. Whenever available, these regional plants are also served for breakfast or dinner: We found freshly harvested papayas at the buffet at breakfast and we had a very good couscous with kalahari truffles for dinner. Another thing that we found very positive is that the lodge uses only solar energy.

The centre of Rundu is very close to Tambuti, just a ten minutes walk. Our room was nice and clean, mosquito nets and mosquito safe windows made us feel safe concerning malaria. While our daughter liked the swimming pool most of all, we appreciated reading a book and drinking a "Rock shandy" on the big wooden terrace in the shadow of a big tree. No question for us: If we ever come to Rundu again, we'll stay at Tambuti.

We stayed there for one night on our trip from Etosha to Caprivi. The hotel is very cosy and the staff very friendly. We were welcomed with cold drinks. As there are only few rooms the atmosphere was familiar and we had the chance to have a chat with the natives and the owner, who originally comes from Europe. We had a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant - traditional African food. The breakfast served on the Rundu beach terrace with direct view to the Okavango River was excellent. Insider tip - as it gets very hot during the day - one should take the breakfast rather early. I would recommend this hotel to my friends.

Stayed for one night in August to break up our drive from Etosha to Caprivi. The bugalow was adorable and I really enjoyed the lodge's commitment to water and energy conservation. We had no problem charging cameras and were perfectly comfortable using the ceiling fan. There is also AC if you need it - while we were there, it was N$50 extra because they had to switch to the grid. Bedding was ok and you also get satellite TV (heavy on the bible channels). Bathroom was very clean and mosie nets in good shape. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and plentiful. Staff was a little indifferent and not so helpful on activities, but generally very pleasant. There is no dinner on offer so plan on at least going to one of the lodges next door if not into town. Riverside location is a plus and you can rent canoes or kayaks from the lodge.
Warning: use the internet here if you need it - there is a cafe in town and who knows when you'll find it again.
Enjoy Caprivi!

Thanks a lot for your comments for Nov 2009, as usual it helped us to focus and improve. Since April 2010 we have a small nice African restaurant specializing on local ingredients (with the benefits of low carbon foot print, local employment and the benefits of discovering local flavors), for your convenience. We are also now a proud "Open Africa participant".

Very friendly and attentive owners, quiet spot with river view. A little bar/terrace adds to the ambiance. The cabins were nicely decorated, mosquito nets were fully intact. Rooms with air conditioning are a must. Breakfast was simple but nice. Convenient location within Rundu.

They are in the midst of expansion.. when completed this place will be even better!

While we were there, there were some electrical problems, however the owners took the utmost care to try and fix and make sure we were still comfortable

Thanks for the comments date November, 2008, it helps us to focus as we only took over Tambuti Lodge in April 2008 and where still in renovation&expansion phase NOW all our Bungalows have nice wooden mosquito screens on all windows to allow a fresh breeze going through, on top of that all rooms have ceiling fans and air-condition now. (the latter only as a last resort, we always recommend open windows and fan first for low carbon footprint and air-condition only during the hottest month..our nights are generally nice and cool (except during October). Breakfast has expanded as well.
