Comfortable, convenient, friendly, clean....the staff at Quinta Don Jose made us feel welcome from the moment we reserved our room to the time we had to leave. Breakfasts were excellent and made us ready for the day. It was great being so close to El Parian and all the activities in Tlaquepaque. We look forward to returning!

Before we had arrived we were impressed with the staff. Every request we made to the hotel by email was promptly answered and acted upon.

We asked the hotel to purchase ETN bus tickets for us from GDL to PV and they did it with just our Visa info. This was an awesome service to us as posts from other travellers had mentioned trouble with getting the tickets through the ETN website. We even had the kitchen ladies pack us a tasty lunch for the 5 hour bus trip.

We were met at the airport by Juan Jose and driven in a brand new Toyota Van. Arriving late in the evening we were hungry and Juan called the restaurant in the hotel to stay open for us, much appreciated after a very long travel day.

QDJ booked an English speaking guide for a private tour of GDL. Luis Enrique Carrillo, luise_cd@hotmail.com picked us up at the hotel. Very good first impression and he continued to impress us through our 6 hour tour including lunch with him. He has extensive knowledge of Guadalajara's history and we had a great day with him. We would rate him a 5 out of 5 and recommend him.

All of the staff in the hotel were great and acted on the smallest request. The food in the restaurant, Charlie the bartender and his drinks were all very good.

We were in room 6 and it is a nice sized room and bathroom facing the pool and inner courtyard over the bar and kitchen area with a pretty comfy bed for Mexican standards. Nice and necessary touch was the limitless bottled water provided in the room. Air conditioning worked well and wasn't too noisy. The negatives were slow plumbing and rather smelly water. I would say the bathroom is due for a makeover. The smelly water could be out of the hotels control. The ceiling in the bedroom is showing a bit of ware as well.

We would recommend staying at QDJ as we have never encountered such great staff anywhere in our travels.

Room Tip: Every room seems to be unique. The rooms facing the street have great looking ceilings but the buse...

The QDJ Hotel is a lovely respite close to all the action in Tlapapaque. The staff are friendly and attentive and the hotel is well maintained with lovely grounds. We stayed three nights but switched after the first night from room 17 to room 5 because we wanted to have a bathtub to soak in after a day of shopping and room 17 only had a shower. The water has an odor, but there was bottled water available in the rooms.
The staff all speak very good English and arranged a taxi whenever we needed one. The morning we left, we had to leave the hotel at 5.30am and so were unable to take advantge of the very adequate continental breakfast. I guess my only request would have been for a couple of muffins to be made available for guests leaving early for flights.
I would definately recommend this hotel , it was a home away from home and we felt very welcome there.

Room Tip: Room 17 only has a shower and no tub. The water splashes out onto the floor and it was slcik. After...

The Villas have great kitchens and you can always call the front desk to get anything you need that isn't already there. However, the whole place can shake when the buses pass by and Villa 2 is on a corner so it's even louder. We still loved our Villa 4 even though the buses could be heard in the bedrooms. The rooms inside the hotel are much quieter.

We did not really take advantage of everything this hotel has to offer, since we visited friends in Tlaquepaque, but the accommodation was excellent, the location beautiful and very well kept, and we truly enjoyed our breakfasts in that attractive little courtyard served by very friendly staff. We are looking forward to our next time, and then we will hopefully enjoy the good food and actually use the pool and relax in that very attractive area around the pool.

this is the second time we have stayed with QDJ and it has been a pleasant experience each time. The rooms are large and clean, the maid service outstanding, and the front desk helpful. We even had a situation where so friends we dropping us off on Christams eve and unbeknown to us something dropped out of she truck. Christmas morning a person with the hotel found it on the side of the street and knocked on our door to see if we had left it. Outstanding. Any time I am in guadalajara this is where we will stay. The market a block away was also very convient.

The Quinta Don Jose was perfect in all ways. From the wonderful staff, the decor, the comfortable room, the fantastic onsite restaurant, and the resident house cat "Cabbit", I just loved it! The location is perfect for shopping in Tlaquepaque. We also did a side trip to Tonala on market day, Thursday, and it was just a 10 min cab ride.

Room Tip: We stayed in room #1 with 2 double beds. it's right at the tp of the stairs so you get a little...
