This a famouse restaurant amoing locals in Tlaquepaque (Guadalajara), Jalisco. I have been here several times because it is located in an old house with a big patio, bugambilias, flowers, fountains, and live music. The food is great: a combination of old and new style of the Mexican cuisine. It is a little expensive for Mexico but if you got the monye I believe it is well worthy. Sundays are the days were local families come to the restaurant and enjoy time together so if you want to eat great and watch Mexicans interact Casa Fuerte is a good option for you. Downside: It can be a little hard to find a parking spot close to the restaurant but there several private lots where you can leave it for about 20 pesos an hour.

We spent several hours here on a Saturday afternoon at a patio table beside the fountain. The atmosphere is thoroughly enjoyable - the courtyard is beautiful, a Veracuzano-style band played boleros, the food was sometimes imaginative and mostly excellent. It isn't particularly touristy, mostly comfortable local families out having a good time. Highly recommended as a place to reinvigorate yourself after a day of shopping and sightseeing in Tlaquepaque.

Our hotel recommended this restaurant for our visit to Tlaquepeque, and we were very glad they did. Lots of good buzz in the dining room, good music, great menu at lunch. Ordered the shrimp in tamarind sauce, which was the best meal I had in the city. Absolutely delicious. A chicken in mushroom sauce was also superb -- exceptionally well cooked and served. Service got a little dicey at the end, as it seemed to in most GDL restaurants, where it's hard to get "la cuenta" on a timely basis. But this is a perfect break from a day of shopping.

This is a great place. I had the Aztec filet and my wife had the Chile Nogalo, both excellent. Friendly service.
