Went over the weekend for some downtime with friends. The beach area may not look as ~pretty~ as the more popular resorts in the island but it is secluded which I think is perfect if you're looking to just relax alone or with friends. They have a big pool as well which is great if you're up for a nighttime dip. We stayed in the dorm room for the first night and for its price (PHP 300 per person), you're getting more than what you're paying for. The room was clean. Bed, sheets, and pillows were fresh. The shared shower and toilet was clean as well. We had a reservation for a deluxe room the next day and we were so surprised that we didn't have to pay extra if more than two people stayed in the room. It was actually bigger than what we expected too. The private bathroom was surprisingly big as well. Much like the dorm room, it was very clean when we went in. They even added another bed for us when we only expected them to just give us an extra single mattress. We went around the island to eat once or twice but the resort has its own restaurant and offer very affordable meals. No complaints there (but looking forward to maybe more dessert selections) because the food and service is excellent. :) As for the staff, we can't rave enough about them. They were really easy to approach. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to give excellent service. We're hoping to go back in a few months and maybe stay longer this time. Looking forward to what the place would look like with the bar and dive center (or maybe the spa?) when we come back. :)

I stayed at the resort for three days and it had all I could wish for as a backpacker: cheap but well maintained dorms( all with a/c, private bathroom, daily cleaned), a great restaurant with a special backpackers menu, a great common area with big TV and DVDs, a great beach and a swimming pool, and all designed in a relaxing Carabbean atmosphere! The resort is a bit isolated and really the only reson to go to town (50php) is for a nice bar and pool table, however I heard both will be available there shortly! As for diving- sites are amazing (especially monad shoal with thresher sharks, the staff are professional and feiendly, and the gear is new!

This is my second trip to Malapascua and my first stay in Thresher Cove. My boyfriend and I arrived there without reservations so we have to wait for more than 2hrs for our room as the room allocated to us is under maintenance. The resort is nice and new. The villas are big and spacious. The water is salt water which is very disappointing. Can't use the pool also as it was being refilled?

Service: Service in the restaurant & Front desk is poor. We have to wait 30minutes for the menu and another few minutes for the waitress to get our order. Girls in Front Desk are not attentive, they are only gossiping.

Diving: Excellent diving! Very happy to see Thresher shark on our first dive. Thank you to our Dive Master - sorry I forgot his name.

Suggestion: More training for the staff about the service culture especially if you're planning to put the resort on higher category - 4-star.

Stayed here for a couple of nights with my girlfriend and all round it was superb. Being on a tight budget we were offered a double be in a dorm room, something I've never seen on my travels. It was a great room with aircon and an excellent price. The restaurant served some the best food I had on the island and offered a menu for those on a tighter budget. All the staff at Thresher Cove made us feel so welcome and everyone was super friendly, from the owner to the restaurant staff and the guys in the dive centre.

Like all that stumbled into malapasqua I was pulled to see thresher cove resort, we were extremely welcomed with honest smiles from the security guard to the boat captain passing through iut all of the staf on the way, even the owners are down to earth people who are just happy to share this plave they gave.

As for the diving it is the best, friendliest, most professional diving shop I have seen in the philippines, after 2 month if jumping arpund from dive shop to dive shop you ll never see better gear, dive masters and friendlier shop crew.

As the restaurant staff goes they are some of the most adorable and caring you'd fiend always looking out that you are never in need.

You guys were and still are the best shop in the philippines. Hope to see you soon

I stayed here just for 3 nights in May 2014 to do some dives, mainly to see Thresher Sharks. Really nice friendly staff at restaurant and dive shop, and great dives with dive masters Vic and Balt - saw thresher sharks, bamboo sharks, white tips and a range of fish... And seahorses :) beautiful! The dorm room is well air conditioned, but beds are quite narrow and with thin hard mattresses. Moved to a private room on my third night and was lovely, clean and spacious with a really comfy bed :) bathroom large too. Water in the resort is still salt water, although a response from owner below says that is being changed - brush teeth with bottled water for now ;) a little disappointing the pool was being cleaned and refilled so couldn't use that. Range of food at the restaurant with good prices and a cheaper 'backpacker menu' - they are also happy to make food the night before to take on the boat early morning for the sunrise shark dives
Great stay, fab diving - didn't see any other parts of the island, but if your here for diving you have all you need at the resort
N.B. There are only motorbikes on the island (without side carts) so you have to fit yourself and all your luggage on the back of a bike - it is possible with a suitcase, and not too far from where the boat comes in!
