I kind of ended up at Thresher Cove after I met the lovely girls again on the beach the day after my arrival, and they took me for a ride and a visit. Then there I was, stuck for about 10 days :) It is a bit far away from the Barrio and Bounty Beach, the 'heart' of the island, but you can get a motorbike anytime and it will only take you a couple of minutes. The good thing is: it is reeeeaaaally quiet and there are no roosters entertaining you at night, plus, there is a private beach AND a really nice and really big pool, that no one else has on the island!

As they are still in the process of bulding the bungalows, accomodation as such is not yet available, but in the meantime they've bought some tents, so if you are a diver you can stay for free until the resort will be officially opening. If you wish so the lovely staff will prepare breakfast and (local) meals for you pretty much any time of the day. What a caring bunch :)

At this moment I believe Thresher Cove is amongst the best value dive shops on Malapascua, more than fair rates for diving, brand new and high quality equipment, a new, very large and very comfortable Bangka to take you out (including a fantastic captain and a very helpful boat crew). Dive spots are pretty cool, and besides the amazing thresher sharks you can see pretty much anything from reef sharks to pygmy seahorses and ma(hoo)sive nudibranchs :) The dive guides Balt and Vic have magic eyes! Trust me, they know their "hood" ;-)

I did my Rescue Diver with (as I understood) co-owner / dive instructor Dario. I would say: sometimes though, but definitely great learning experience!

More than anything else though it is the staff and the other divers I met that made my stay so enjoyable. The ever smiling security guys, the friendly construction workers, the lovely girls all around the kitchen and soon to be resort area, the team at the dive shop, Richard, the man that never sleeps and always makes sure everyone is happy and healthy and generous Dario - that made us laugh a lot :)

After Yolanda, the incredibly strong typhoon in November 2013, everyone on the island is keen on rebuilding and it's amazing to see what devotion everyone puts into this. Visit Malapascua, go diving, see the beautiful thresher sharks and support the people on that lovely island!

I can't wait to go back and see what it will all look like once it's actually 'ready to rumble'!

I really loved the place. I did my open water and advanced there.
You can camp for free there, really good for backpackers.
The only thing is that Dario the instructor is too hard! Sometimes is good, but sometimes is too much, he needs to learn separate the moments.
And the staff deserve be treated really well, not under pression because is really hard work in these way. They are the key of the success of this place. Always happy and hellpful people.

The staff of the hotel is very friendly and always ready to help you.
The dive sites are stunning and the diving team (dive masters, instructor, boat crew...) is very nice and well experienced, they are able to find the smallest sea horse in the middle of thousand corails.
I spent 2weeks there and couldn't leave this cozy place.

amazing experience

I did OW+AOW

The place is incredible, secluded, and with a large pool. I spent a good time there. The staff is amazing and Vic guide is the best, choose him, he knows everything!

All new and quality equipment. The price is the most cheap of malapascua.

They have tent e you can stay for free on the garden.

I will go back.

Thanks for your kind review:) it was our pleasure to have you as our guests, and congratulations on passing your courses.

To anyone thinking of coming to us, I just want to mention that the tents are provided free to those who dive with us. However, this is just a temporary measure until our accommodation opens in a few weeks' time.

Glad you enjoyed our pool. I believe its one of only 2 in resorts on the island.

Best wishes

I had an unforgettable time at Thresher Cove Resort and I saw thresher sharks!!! This has been without a doubt one of my best experiences diving,on a professional and human levels.
We were greeted and treated soooo well by Dario (diving instructor),Richard(director),the dive masters and all personnel. They got 2local dive masters that know every corner of the underwater world in Malapascua.
I got my PADI advance certificate while on holidays. Dario was very patience with me and he mixed the right amount of fun and professionalism. The dives were incredible.we could see thresher sharks, white tip sharks, the rare mandarin fish(on a night dive),frog fish, sea horses and many many more...
The equipment is brand new:wetsuits, regulators, masks, boots, etc which makes your experience even better not worrying about anything but enjoying the dive
They treated us like a family from day 1,giving us everything we asked for.And the most important thing:they are truly passionate about it so they are keen to show you a bit further than other diving centers in Malapascua.
So,if you are going to this beautiful corner of the world, dont waste your time conparing the prices on every dive center in the island.Get on a mopped and go straight to Thresher Cove Resort,a 5mins ride from el barrio.

We came across Thresher Cove whilst walking around the beautiful island of Malapascua. We were warmly greeted on arrival and were very impressed by the extremly high standard of equipment & very resonable rates offered for diving with them. We ended up doing several dives ( My friend did his Advanced course 1 : 1 with the diving instructor & owner....who also happens to be a doctor!) Each dive we went on was with a small group or just boyfriend & I.The divemasters were locals with great knowledge of the sites, extremly proffesional & very entertaining. The dives themselves were varied in locations & it's hard to chose my favorite.Gato island cave swim through with cruising
White Tips , the beautiful Thresher Shark dive & the wreck dive were all amasing...I'd recomend them all!
I cannot thank the entire crew at Thresher Cove enough..It really was an incredible experience & their generosity, helpfulness & kindness went way beyond what we'd expected. We both felt like we'd left the island with some great new friends.

Room Tip: i can't recommend this place enough...& the pool is great too!
