My friend and I were attracted by the candle lights and cosy bean bag sofas by the beach. The food was delicious and the waitress was very nice to allow us to change the white rice to olive rice at no added cost.

I just stayed here for 5 nights and was very happy with the choice. The ocean facing rooms are literally 3 meters from the beach with nothing but sand in between. The beach setting at night is magical with bean bags nice lights from the trees and candles on small tables. Total bliss your stress melts away with each SML ;-)

The staff are quite attentive (good enough considering where you are) and for a short relaxing stay you don't have to go much further to chill out.

We didn't use their dive school because we had heard better stories about thresher shark divers 200 meter down the beach.

Rooms are ok, air co works, warm water and daily clean incl linen.

Buffet breakfast is included and nice (not superb just nice) with a fantastic view from the first floor.

The transport from & to Cebu airport was well super efficient (car & boat) but it does take 3-5 hrs all up and considering we had an 11am flight I'm glad the boat was half an hour early at 5am ;-)

Great trip, recommend this hotel. Most alternatives I saw along the beach looked less appealing to me but I didn't enter any rooms so hard to compare.

We booked Ocean Vida through Agora, with excellent references from Trip Advisor; We were able to get a sea-view room with balcony at a very affordable price. We arranged for a land-boat transfer from Cebu City with a pickup at our Hotel, for about Php 2400 per person.. (2pax) and the 3hr ride was a comfortable one...

Zoren the manager greeted us and introduced us to Martin the dive manager at the adjoining Sea Explorers dive resort.. We arranged for a refresher dive and a discovery dive, and were promptly introduced to Tata, who saw to it that were fitted our wetsuits and gear right away.. and scheduled the dive within a couple of hours. Lunch at the restaurant was superb and good value for money.. We had the Ocean Vida fish special, a baked fillet of fish with cauliflower and cream (usually asparagus, but they ran out).. Buffet breakfasts at Ocean Vida were very good, especially their homemade bread, and croissants.. Ala Carte dishes were of large portions, special mention is the Seafood Marinara pasta which had lots of calamari and prawn shrimps.

Happy Hour at the beach front's relaxing chairs were great. It was buy-one-take-one, and the margaritas and mango daquiri's were great.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the A/C was cool, and very much appreciated after a long day of diving and the beach. The bed linens, and towels were of excellent quality, and so were the fluffy pillows. The only thing Ocean vida could probably add would be Cable/Satellite TV and maybe an ipod dock.. The Wifi signal in the rooms though were a bit intermittent, this could be improved..

We would also recommend, in-room brooms so that guests could wipe away the sand without bothering the housekeeping.

Over all we had a great time. and would visit again soon.

I felt I needed to write this review on the very good experience we had with Ocean Vida. Along the Bounty Beach strip of Malapascua, most of the restaurants offer happy hour cocktails at 5pm. I have had not so good experience with Magellan's last year so when we were walking by the beach hoping to find some good cocktails bar, we weren't expecting much. But Ocean Vida stands out. The waitresses were very happy to serve us. Being Filipinos in an island with so many foreigners, we are used to getting less enthusiastic servers (sad but true!) But it is different with Ocean Vida. Service was consistent both with Filipino and foreigner guests.

We got a seat facing the beach and we stayed until 9pm because we just enjoyed the atmosphere and the waitresses were also very prompt in seeing to our every need. We were even given one more glass of margarita on the house!

We only ordered some appetizers for our cocktails so couldn't really say much about their main entrees. It was okay, not really extraordinary. We were very happy with the service so didn't mind much. But the cocktails were especially good, we just kept ordering and ordering even if it was past the happy hour promo.

The hotel has a restaurant on the second floor where people seemed to be enjoying their meals. It is quieter upstairs.

Everyone had a bad tummy after eating there. The service was not the best. None of the waitresses had their hair tied back. They did not know the items on the menu
