“Perfect Paridise Stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 15, 2012

Extended our stay it doen't get much better than this in the Phillipines our room was great ,big shower, dressing area ,real mattresses ,LCD TV, fridge very clean. The hot water runs on solor so not always hot so who cares ,we are so lucky. Swimming pool and beach is beautiful, this is the best place on the island. It is higher end pricing but well worth it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was good.

Room Tip: Ground floor is nice with little patio

This is a good coice for people who like to have the amenities of a hotel. Each room has two comfortable real beds (not the foam type that is commonly used in the provinces), a small fridge, a 32 inch LCD TV, and the typical hotel furniture. The toilet and shower are upscale with nice tiles and hot water is available. The alarm clock also controls the lights so you can turn off the lights by just reaching over to the side table. A really cool and unexpected feature for a hotel on an island that is not easy to get to. There is a table on the patio with two chairs, which we used to hang our wet clothes.

They have there own dive shop located in front right beside the gift shop. The swimming pool is a pretty good size pool and is contantly cleaned; lots of leaves getting into it throughout the day. Breakfast is good enough; nothing fancy; choice of rice or bread, eggs and sausage or ham. We did not eat there for lunch or dinner so I can not comment on the quality.

Overall, the hotel is a very nice place.

Visited Malapascua Island for the first time, february 2012. Stayed one week at the Legend and from arrival until departure it was exactly as we wanted it. Large and nice furniture rooms, nice and helpful staff, very good swimming pool and a good restaurant. All that and the whole environment on the island made that week a perfect start on our vacation in the Philippines. We will absolutely come back again.

Stayed here 5 nights in February 2012.
The place is great, I think the best in Malapascua.

Located on Bounty beach in front of all dive boats. Big and clean pool.
Rooms are big and have all you need.
The only problem is that they don't have hot water in case of no Sun... Strange. Happened 2 days out of 5...
Breakfast is good.
I would stay in this place again for sure.

Restaurant is nice.
Wi-fi is free, but work only at restaurant area.

Lovely place

The pluses are the large freshwater pool, large rooms with 3 star amenities and the spacious grounds and beach. The minuses are the limited ability of the kitchen to produce quality food and cafeteria style seating in the restaurant. Most people ate away except for the complimentary breakfast. The staff addressed our needs and inquiries immediately when asked and reflected what we have come to see as Filipino hospitality. Suggestions = an industrially appropriate kitchen and staff trained to produce quality cuisine that matches the rest of the hotel amenities. In discussion with other guests we discovered a variety of room rates - check around and compare. The families with young children appreciated the pool and the space for children to play in.

Room Tip: All rooms face the pool except the few above the restaurant and lobby.

We paid over 5000 pesos for our rooms. They overcharged us for transport from the airport to the hotel. The restaurant often ran out of food, was of mediocre quality and the service was very slow. Breakfast was included but you could only order one plate of food and the juice and coffee were instant. If you wanted fresh juice or 'brewed' coffee(which means decent), you had to pay for it. The beach was full of shells and sharp pebbles making swimming in the sea unpleasant. The manager of the dive shop is helpful and experienced. The pool was nice because it was often empty and seemed clean. There were many other hotels on the island more reasonably priced. I heard from other travellers that poor service and mediocre food were common throughout the island.

We stayed at the hotel in January 2012 and found that there was more than enough hot water, the staff was very accommodating, and the pool well kept. The rooms were very spacious as well as comfortable. The food needs improvement though as well as the time you have to wait to get your order.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Malapascua Island is situated two and a half hours away by car and four hours away by bus from the city of Cebu. A barangay of the town of Daanbantayan, Malapascua Island takes pride in its world class diving spots and pristine white sand beaches. It is widely referred by locals as the "Boracay of Cebu." As a diving destination, Malapascua Island has become known for its beautiful coral gardens and excellent local dive spots, as well as further out sites like Gato Island, Monad Shoal, and Kemod Shoal. Monad Shoal is an underwater plateau where thresher sharks and manta rays can be seen on a regular basis. The town's name is derived from two Spanish words, "mal" and "pascua", which translated in English means, "bad" and "Easter" or bad Christmas. According to locals, the Spaniards named the island that way after they arrived there on a stormy Christmas. Malapascua Island is a promise of a great dive and a relaxing beach experience, making it a popular travel destination for local and foreign tourists alike. ... more   less
