I went to Malapascua on a quick getaway to go thresher shark diving. Ocean Vida was a great place to stay at. The staff is so friendly and attentive. When I arrived late, the manager was there to greet me. By the next day all the staff knew me, and always called me by name. The food and drinks were great. Everything was reasonably priced despite being a resort. At night, this resort is the heart of where people go to hang out. People playing guitar, and singing.

Just returned from a great trip to the Philippines, which included 5 days at Ocean Vida Dive Resort in Malapascua. I cannot say enough positive things about this Resort. Management (Sven and Soren) were ever-present at this rustic-elegant boutique resort thus ensuring a high quality experience for all guests. The Dive Master / Instructor Team (especially our Dive Guide, Toto) was fabulous. All Dive Team members rose to the occasion for our every dive need and were very professional and yet enthusiastic for each and every diver. The Food & Beverage Team team also excelled: warm greetings daily and local dishes, coupled with lots of fruit, made dining here a pleasure. The small bar downstairs proved to be a great meeting place for Divers and employees alike which made us feel part of a warm community.

So what did we see? Thresher Sharks (well worth the 4:15 AM wake up daily), Blue Ring Octopus, Sea Snakes, Clown and False Clown Fish, gorgeous soft corals and beautiful hard corals - both in abundance.

Best dive sites: Gato Island, Evo Reef (looks like a desert but is a GREAT night dive), Lighthouse. (Frankly, they are all good but I enjoyed these the most!)

Thanks, Ocean Vida Team! We will see you again!

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean-view room (come to think of it, they all might be ocean-view rooms). Breath-taking...

We spent 9 days in Malapscua at the beginning of October and had one of the best (if not the best) holidays of our lives. Starting with a very warm welcome by the divestaff in the divecenter, to a wonderful room which has everything one would want during a holiday, like enough storage space, etc., to excellent food in the restaurant and a lovely team running it, to excellent diving and an extraodinary guide (A huge thank you to Rex once again at this point for introducing me to all the fishes I had come to see for, you are a STAR!!!), to a very welcoming atmoshere overall, we just felt embraced and at home right from the beginning. So much so, that my five year old son decided on the spot, that he would like to move here for good.

The hotel is very cosy and one feels very welcome. Rooms are very clean and inviting, the staff adapted their housekeeping schedule around our diving schedule and are superb. The restaurant offers a wide variety of excellent food and the atmosphere was so welcoming, that we didnt even want to go and explore other places.

The divecenter is busy but still, the staff manages to take care of all divers and attend to the requests and one feels taken care of at all times. The diving itself is heaven. The schedule allows four dives with surface intervals which are long enough to recover and all the guides deserve big praise for their enthusiasm and committment.
The service is outstanding and the divecenter tries to work around the other divecenters in the area to avoid crowding on the divesites on the early mornings for example.

Overall: we would go back immediately, (and will!!) and we can only thank the team there that they have built this little haven of paradise on earth!

Right from the heel of the 7.1 earthquake in Bohol, although hesitant, we went to celebrate our first year anniversary at the vert lush Ocean Vida Resort. At first, I was a bit uncomfortable taking a boat ride going to Malapascua. But once there, all doubts vanished as people of Ocean Vida showed eagerness in giving us the VIP treatment. Being the only pinoy couple that weekend (french, canadians and brits were all out for snorkling), we were able to enjoy excellent attractions such as the restaurant and the beach front. Room and food services were topnotch! We didn't get the expensive lodging but the attention and treatment we got were priceless! The consumables were replenished promptly and our room smells fresh and clean in our every return! Caren (from the resto and the rest of the staff and management) made our stay there on the top of our list! We are sure to return here!

First of all, the staff at Ocean Vida is superb. Very, very friendly and accommodating. I chose to have them arrange my transportation and it went flawlessly from Cebu to the resort. My 2nd floor ocean view balcony room was large as was the bathroom. Rack outside to hang wet suits was very helpful. A cotton shopping bag was provided to avoid the plastic bags usually given when purchasing items in town. Great idea. Always able to find a beach lounge and the seating at night for Happy Hour on the beach was great. Garlic sautéed peanuts available at Happy Hour were delicious. Had my first scuba experience and the instructor, Luca, was so patient and informative. Snorkeling is also easily arranged. Outrigger at the beach and off you go. Dive Centre is also very very welcoming. The garden view rooms are also quite nice. Plenty of space to put suitcases, etc. Coffeemaker and mini bars are also in the rooms. All in all- one of the best resorts I have ever stayed in.

Ocean Vida seemed, by far, the best place on the beachfront of Malapascua. Clean, spacious room with great air con. When we weren't diving with the amazing Dive Centre on site (all the dive guides were great, but special mention to Kleng and our fabulous guide for nearly the whole two weeks, Tong, who made our dives fantastic), we spent a lot of time on our 1st floor balcony, reading, soaking up the tranquility and beach views. Fabulous all-you-can-eat breakfast and the menu for lunch and dinner was pretty good, too. We never went anywhere else - everyone seemed to come here! The beach front seats were great, happy hour was always welcome (the frozen margaritas are really very nice, although I think they need a new playlist...'brown eyed girl' heralded happy hour nearly every day we were there...) and dinner was always on the beach (weather permitting!). We didn't wear shoes for two weeks...
And the staff - the service was incredible. So friendly, relaxed and chilled, Ollie and his staff make you feel so welcome, it was a real wrench to leave.

Room Tip: our first floor beach front room was amazing - there's nothing like stepping out onto a balcony...

I spent a while trying to select a place to stay on Malapascua. We choose an Ocean Vida seafront room and were not disappointed. Clean spacious rooms. Excellent, friendly service. Really enjoyed their seating on the beach, especially during happy hour. Breakfast was fab too.. Highly recommend staying here. Wifi was good and was available from our room (Room 11). Ate in the restaurant twice and enjoyed it. Calamari from the beach bar also good.
