Slam's Garden Resort
Ranked #4 of 13 Hotels in Malapascua Island

We had stayed here for 3d2n in Slam's garden resort for reasons (one of the cheapest price on rooms, transfers, and a very accommodating on queries). To elaborate, queries are being answered on a daily basis by their GM Ms Liezl Blanco. Nice place, well maintained resort and clean daily towels added to the factor. The cons of the resort is that they are far from the beach (against other resorts) but only for about 10meters. They also don't have much of amenities/facilities (rooms, couple of swings and the garden itself). As Malapascua is famous for diving, they don't have any dive shops which In turn, i highly recommend 'fun & sun' being headed by Simon (owner) and Micky (very accomodating).

Room Tip: Room differences are fan and AC and type of beds.

Slams has a great garden and open area in the middle of the hotel buildings, giving you a nice relaxed feeling when you walk in. The little outdoor bar and seating pagodas add to the vibe.

The room itself was quite large with two double beds in the room and basics like a little fridge to keep drinks in, and air con and hot water. The bathroom shower was very good and overall the room was pretty decent. Everything clean and neat, with basic furnishings. We did have to ask for blankets, as they only provided sheets for bed covers, but that wasn't a problem.

The balcony overlooks the garden and has nice chairs to relax and sit. The overall vibe was very mellow.

Location wise it isn't on the beach front, which is fine, and is only about 3 minutes around the corner from the start of the main beach. The plus side is that it was much quieter at night for sleeping.

We stayed 4 nights at Slam's garden and the verdict is:

Rooms: rooms are like simple but clean. The are not "resort-style" but they do and are quite big. We were a bit cheap and did not choose aircon which also resulted in only having cold water in the shower. Since it was warm it didn't matter that much, but it is a nice feature to have.

Restaurant: we ate there once and were not really satisfied. You get much better food elsewhere.

Atmosphere: they try to make the place nice, but when we were there, no guests were hanging out in the garden/hotel area, which was a bit sad. The result was we went to the other restaurants or hotels to have a drink or eat some food. Good thing is that it is quiet there. The hotel is not by the beach. The "popular" beach is about 5 min away, but if you need to go to e.g. Exotic Divers it is 15 min walk. There is a less populated beach 150m away.

It was my first time in Malapascua- and I was very glad to have stayed in Slams! The rooms and toilets were cleaned everyday and they changed the sheets and towels while we were out diving (magic haha). The people who worked there were very accommodating and friendly to me and my friends. Its located right beside the dive shop, Dive link -where I would set up my gear, so that was big plus as well.

The resort could definitely improve on their food though. All in all I would definitely stay here again!

I've been to Malapascua more then 5 times this year. Apart form the Tresher shark/diving, Slam's is one of the reason ;) . They have the most hardworking/friendliest staff ive seen. Nice clean place.
Good house keeping. Making up your room automatically. Awesome!!!!

Room Tip: Book early to avoid disappointment. :)

Look no further for a great place to stay while on Malapascua - a great place to visit. Slams is very good value for money, the location is good, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Liezel the manager/owner and her staff are very friendly and helpful. I would stay there again. Highly recommended.

Stayed in the deluxe ac room with 2 double beds. Room is good for the price you pay (refer to Agoda or its own website) with ac, ceiling fan, separate ensuite toilet & ensuite shower room with the wash basin in between....3 persons could get ready at the same time in the morning! Fantastic esp if you have to leave by 4.30am for your 1st dive!

Cleanliness - better than average. Everything is clean and well maintained. The floor is a little sandy but hey, it is malapascua!

Service - The staff are very helpful and obliging but this is low season so they have the time to be on your beck & call pronto..

They just opened their new restaurant today. Menu pretty basic and just running in. Like in most eateries here, they seemed to only run on 1 chef but most dishes are prepared from scratch so the long wait is pretty worth it. But if you want, you can always ask uf you can pre order esp when you have dive schedules.

They also have this quaint little bar which is really good for having a drink with your dive buddies.

Location - 1min walk to the beach. The 2 days i was here we had really great sunsets. The beach is of fine white sand and has very very gentle slopes and seagrass. Great for kids but no snorkling to be had.

Overall i would say that this is a great place for both adults and even young kids coz i would not hesitate to bring my nieces and nephews here.

Tip : so far the fairest of the little grocery vendors i found is this young lady whose stall is the 1st stall on your left as you leave Slam's and heads towards the village. Fair even though we are foreigners.
