“Dissapointed”
Reviewed August 7, 2011

Was given two groupons (one for dinner, another for B&B + lunch) as a gift but trying to book and use the groupons was impossible. We were told they only allow a few groupon bookings and would rather have rooms left empty (a quick check showed all 8 rooms were available) than have our custom.

Dear "Dissapointed Groupon Customer ",
There has obviously been a misunderstanding here.

It is NOT IMPOSSIBLE to book Groupon accommodation or dinner.
We still have plenty of availabily & are continuing to take bookings until the end of November.

I assume that we were unable to offer you the specific date that you first requested ~ which
unfortunately does happen (particularly if it is short notice).

It is simply incorrect that we would have 8 rooms remaining empty.

We are a small, family run establishment with only 10 rooms in total.
Fortunately, are always well above a 20% occupancy rate and have a great many satisfied customers ~ as you will see from other happy reviews

Our aim is to welcome those with Groupon vouchers, in conjunction with our other customers, so the booking process does have to be very carefully managed.
The Groupon offer clearly states that the redemption of vouchers is subject to availability.

I do apologise if this was not adequately explained and am sorry that you felt it necessary to express this on trip advisor, rater than speak to me directly.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in this quaint Inn. Built around 1520 it has a family feel to it. The staff seem local and are pleasant and helpful. The rooms are accessed by a quirky set of stairs and the floors are very uneven which adds to the charm. There is no lift so be careful if you have mobility issues. The room was a decent size with a separate bathroom. It's only 3 star but is clean with tea and coffee in the room. You can also get a drink at the bar and take it to your room. We used the restaurant both nights and found the food was ok, perhaps a bit pricey for what it is. Breakfast was cooked to your liking at a time you nominate the night before. As I said, it has a family run feel to it and is in a beautiful location. We preferred to stay here rather than busy Stratford 15 minutes drive away.

Room Tip: No lift so beware if you have mobility issues or lots of luggage.

Lovely hotel in a quaint location.

Food was delish and the staff were nice too. The suite we stayed in was brilliant, with a roll top bath and two tv's.

Would defo reccomend.

Must stress that we didn't stay the night but was there for a 2 course evening meal in the restaurant.
It was awful.....and we won't be returning.
1. Ordered 2 glasses of white wine (eventually served after a 15 minute wait). One glass was supposed to be a sauvignon blanc the other a pinot grigio. The pinot was ok but the 'sauvignon blanc' was definitely a cheap tasting chardonnay and had to go back.
2. Have you ever had a tomato, mozarella and basil salad with lashings of mustard dressing? No it was a first for me too. Whatever inspired someone to do this?
3. Chicken caeser salad was as boring as they come and I hardly touched it. Piles and piles and piles of cos lettuce and croutons, little bit of chicken and some old, salty anchovies. Plus what was supposed to have been home-made dressing - very doubtful. Tasted like it had come out of a bottle to me.
4. No bread
5. Steak was ok but was served with piles of olives in a synthetic tasting sauce
6. Table was dirty looking and needed a good clean
7. No ambiance in the restaurant at all. Dead quiet - and for good reason
All in all, you need to get your act together!! You're not going to get people coming out to this place unless you offer first class food and service.

Dear anonymous reviewer.
Sincere apologies for your disappointing evening at The Halford Bridge last week. I am sorry that you felt unable to bring these issues to the attention of a member of staff at the time ~ as we would have attempted to rectify the situation for you.
I note from you comments that sadly, you were unhappy with every aspect of your meal, which is very regretful.
I would howerer like to reassure our customers that all of our food is home made (including the Caesar dressing) and that every effort is made from our friendly team of staff to ensure the Halford Bridge experience is a happy one for our customers.
We are just sorry that we cant please everyone, all of the time . . . . . . but we do try . . . . . very hard indeed!! (& we hope that this is apparent from everyone elses lovely reviews about us)

My husband and I stayed for just one night at the Halford Bridge as we were going to a local event and we had a very nice, if short, time there.
The staff could not have been more pleasant, friendly and welcoming from booking the room, looking after us, and checking out again.
The hotel is a bit of a maze of stairs and low doorways so is not ideal for very tall people or those with mobility issues, but the chestnut room was lovely when you found your way to it.
The Fosse way is not the quietist place to stay, but is very convenient.
We didn't have dinner at the Halford Bridge as we had prior arrangements to eat at the Fox & Goose at Armscote just a couple of miles down the road (highly recommended!), but the restaurant looked very nice and appeared to be popular. Breakfast was very good the next morning, and they were very flexible about times for those of us who needed to be away early. On the whole a very pleasant stay.

Booked via Late Rooms and we were allocated the garden room called the Hazelnut Room. The room was spacious and the bathroom was adapted for disabled access. Bathroom could do with updating and having a seperate shower, there is certainly enough space. Had a meal in the pub and food was ok if a little over priced. The staff in the bar were friendly and helpful. Last orders in the bar was around 10pm, but as we were the only ones in there hardly surprising! Breakfast was nice and kept you going all day.
