When people mention about Iraq, all the people who live outside of the country will only think about bad side they heard from TV but Erbil is exception. for me it is one of the safest city i've ever visited.
Local people treat me very nice and they are really welcoming me.
Citadel, Sami Abdul Rahman Park, Minare Park, Shanidar park is the MUST see places in this city.
yes it is not as develop as other big cities in the world, but soon you'll find this city will be shining on its own way.

I must say i enjoyed my time in Erbil. I like the Kurdish people, who are very polite and generous when one interacts with them in the similar manner. I have also seen their brutish ways in terms of road rage (they can beat the crap out of each other). But one thing that stands out in favour of the Kurds is the way they treat migrant workers, in the middle east i would have to say (my personal point of view), they treat them the best when compared to other richer middle eastern nations. A respect well earned for Kurdistan, wish the other middle eastern nations learnt of this too.
Even though there maybe quite a bit of corruption in the political system, atleast the Kurdish leaders have put that money into security and infrastructure development and it continues. One lesson for the rest of the iraqi politicians to learn from.
Historically Kurdistan had its share of illtreatment from the rest of the Iraq, but today they are offering safe haven to Iraqis instead of being remorseful about it, atleast for the majority of Kurds. Another lesson for the rest of middle east nations to learn.

I wish Erbil maintains the human and developmental harmony, its a lovely city to be working and living in and i just hope its not a bubble with so many wonderful things only for the eyes to see, while the soul searching continues to remain.
