quick check in, middle of the night, desk clerk spoke excellent English. Started with a single room at the back of the hotel - very pleasant. Good location close to Erbil Civilization Museum, shopping mall, Erbil town Centre & Citadel. Only had hot water one day out of four, however.
Good variety at breakfast.
Restaurant buffet in outdoor area was terrific - lots of variety and well priced at around $10US. Good vegetarian selection. wine was supremely over-priced, but beer was $4/huge bottle, Efes brand (Turkish).
Heard there were to be renovations - good news for rooms on lower levels which really need to be updated to the standards of the upper levels, but bad news for the lobby, which is covered with amazing glass tiles...floor to ceiling....beautiful.

Room Tip: rooms on higher floors have been renovated, lower floors are still grungy.

The best thing about this hotel was the location, walking distance to the citadel & town center. I was in Iraqi Kurdistan for 9 days & for people that like their veggies, this place has the best salad buffet, it was especially nice to eat at night outside the hotel's spacious garden. Was here for a total of three nights & tried out two rooms (on 1st floor & 3rd floor). In the first room where I stayed 2 nights, the toilet seat was dirty but I came prepared with bags of wipes, the hot water didn't work & there was a big gap /hole between the door knob & the wooden door it was screwed into (so if anyone is into peeping into rooms it'd be quite easy. )
Wifi was free, dinner prices were reasonable but wine prices were off the charts (compared to other hotels in this country, ie 40pc more for same exact wine vs hotels elsewhere in the country). Otherwise the rooms were functional and the lobby decked out in glass from another era.

Hotel is located on one of bussy streets of Erbil. It is an old Hotel and you can smell the old on every part of Hotel.Food is ok as you have some choices fm the menü.Hotel rate is overpriced for such service and comfort.Need some maintenance and renovation.

I stayed here for about a week last month. Check in was at 04:00, after 10 hours on planes. I was in my room and in bed within 10 minutes. Very smooth. I felt that the hotel was a bit quirky, what with the glass decorations in the lobby, but that the rooms could do with a bit of a makeover. Breakfast was OK, evening meals were great and the beer was superbly cold. It's in a perfect location for an evening stroll down to the Bazaar and the citadel. I'll be back in Erbil, hopefully before 2014 & would choose to stay here again!

The peak daytime temperature was 46C, but the air conditioning was up to the job! So no complaints at all.

Stayed at this hotel for three nights in June 2013. Since this was my first visit to Iraqi Kurdistan, I wasn't sure what to expect, but was very pleased with the overall experience. Since it was June, the temperature outside was quite warm. The air conditioning worked very well. The hotel is located within walking distance from the Citadel and Bazaar which is convienent in case you want to return to explore on your own after a guided tour. The room itself had a mini refrigerator which was great to keep bottled water or soft drinks cold. I did use the free wifi with which I uploaded photos on a regular basis through my tablet. Exit the hotel and turn left and there is a small liqour store within walking distance on the same side of the street. Across the street to the left is a small snack shop where you can get things to munch on as well as my favorite, Diet Pepsi! The hotel has a good restaurant and also offers outdoor dining on the enclosed lawn outside. Would definitely consider staying here again.

This is not one of Erbil's newest hotels but it has loads of quirky character and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The lobby and restaurant have the most amazing glass mosaics (apparently created by an Iranian artist) on the pillars etc and there are some odd stuffed animals around as well as a crazy "tiffany" lamp. The entrance path has crazy white lions with red tongues that light up a night and there is a huge "lantern lamp" light in the entrance porch - all great fun. Free wi-fi and fridges in the bedrooms. Hot water in the showers was not always available but there was a boiler problem when we arrived and it was fixed by next morning. Breakfasts were good - quite a bit of choice. It is near the Museum of Civilisation were we received a warm welcome. About15-20 minutes walk from the Citadel.

Room Tip: Higher floors are probably more modern than lower floors.

Traditional and interesting hotel. Food good and staff friendly. Rooms ok but on small side and lacking in decent desk facilities . Free wifi worked well. Air con in rooms very noisy which means either a disturbed or sweaty nights sleep!. Unfortunately no pool which is an issue.
