I loved my day at Xel ha . Everything was pretty. Only complaint was the food. It's wasn't all that great. The drinks made up for it .

“Highly recommend, well worth the money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

The other reviewers who loved this place have said it already, this place is beautiful, clean, great food, friendly staff, great place for snorkeling and a bit of an adventure. We had snorkeled before in the ocean but this place would be great especially for people who are inexperienced or nervous about snorkeling, we saw many beautiful fish around the rocky areas marked by the flags. Wear water shoes, easier to walk down the path and swim back rather than carrying flip-flops. Bring $25 for deposit on snorkeling gear. The snorkel is new and they let you keep it. Take your flippers with you when you walk to the end of the river to float back...the lazy river doesn't move artificially like lazy rivers at water parks so the will help move you along. Our sunscreen was not acceptable by their bio standards but they gave us free packets to use. The bathrooms and lockers were super clean and free. We did not do any extras but would recommend the dophin swim here over the place at Isla Mujeres particularly if you are not a strong swimmer. My teens did the dolphin swim at Isla and the ocean water was very rough and you have to hold on. The food there was not good and the food at Xel-ha is very good and service superb. The pictures at Xel-ha are expensive but they are at all attractions like this so not surprising. Bring your own waterproof camera, you are permitted to take photos. We had just 2 adults and my 17 year old daughter who loved it. I did see people with babies and I think that would not be so much fun but if you have someone to just hang out and relax with the baby would not be so bad. It is a great place for any other age kids and adults. We were staying at a resort in the Riveria Maya so it was fairly close. We did the Xel-Ha trip only without going to Tulum and could not see or do everything in one day so we were glad that we didn't try to do Tulum as well.

“brilliant day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

This place is amazing. so much to see but a lot of walking. It was very tiring but well worth it. It's about £50 to get in but if you want to swim with dolphins, manatees or any of the other experiences this is extra. The food was excellent and if you are all inclusive there is unlimited drinks as well.

“Lots to do for varying skill levels!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2012

My husband and I went to Xel-ha in Oct 2012 and had a great time. We skipped the Tulum portion as we wanted more time at the park and really enjoyed it! Saw AMAZING fish, so many beautiful colors and even had a sting-ray swim right beneath us!!! The trick is to break away from groups of swimmers and glide quietly and gently as to not disturb the fish too much. We really liked the ability to go in and out of the water whenever we wanted and go as far as we wanted on our own, more flexibility than other excursions we've gone on - we actually saw better fish then we've ever seen and we've done several snorkel trips.

Food was good & there was lots! Lockers & towels were pretty convenient. As was their system of locking up your belonging at the start of the river & having them waiting at the end. We didn't have our kids along but thought their little kid park are looked so fun! But this is def not a place for non-swimmers, I think they might run out of things to do.Hammocks & zip lines were fun too. Only tip I have for people is maybe bring one of those water proof containers you wear for money and locker keys - would have been helpful as I felt bad not being able to tip as our stuff was far from where we got food and drinks. Liquor/beer is included. We booked online ahead of time to save some money and it worked well.

“Fun day out for all ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012 via mobile

My husband and I went to Xel Ha for the day as part of a First Choice excursion and we had a great day. The great thing about the park is that there is so much to do that you can get exactly what you want from it. If you want a fun packed day with the family there is plenty to do (cliff jumps, zip lines, snorkelling, rope swings, all sorts!) but the park is so big that you can easily just chill out for the day. We went for the chilled out option. We got there when the park opened which I would highly recommend you do. It means you can explore the whole place completely alone and can get some amazing photos. It was really peaceful and we were able to walk around the whole park at our own pace. It was a nice romantic start to the day. By the time we had walked round the whole park we got back just as the restaurants opened for breakfast so it was great timing. I would personally recommend that you don't have breakfast at 9:30 though, it was so hectic. I would recommend waiting a bit if you can. After breakfast we went to float down the lazy river in a rubber ring. Don't worry about leaving everything in your locker, you can lock it in a safe bag (you keep the key) and they send it to the end so it's waiting for you when you get out of the water. After that we spend most of the day snorkelling which was fantastic. So many beautiful fish! We had lunch at the fast food place which was ok (what you would expect from fast food). We spent the rest of the day relaxing. We found a really quiet spot hidden behind the hut by the bridge, that was beautiful and peaceful. One tip that I can give is to use the changing rooms by the dolphins and hammocks, the main ones are really busy but these ones were tucked away so were completely empty. They had 3 showers just like the main ones though - much better. Overall it was a great day out, we didn't do half of the things there but we kept ourselves busy from 8am - 5.30pm. You can do as much or little as you want.
