This was the most fantastic hotel experience I have ever had. From the service, the grounds, the rooms, and the people everything just made our honeymoon perfect. I would highly recommed this resort and will be definitely going back ourselves!!!!!

Room Tip: Definitely stay in the Casitas part of the resort. The rooms were amazing!

El Dorado Casistas in Playa Del Carmen is an amazing place! The resort is for adults so it is a great place for couples and those wanting a vacation away from the kids. The amenities are fantastic and the staff goes out of their way to make sure that you have everyhting that you need. This was our 8th trip to the Riviera Maya and El Dorado had, by far, the best food of any resort that we have visited. The portions were perfectly sized and done really well. We did not have a bad meal for the whole week we were there.
The only downside is that the resort is very large and if you wish to leave the casitas area you have to take a shuttle (golf cart). The shuttles run every 15 minutes, so it you never have to wait long to get around the resort. If you call ahead to your concierge, they will arrange for a shuttle to arrive at your casita at a pre-arranged time.
Their are three levels of service. We stayed in the prsidential casitas and were pampered. We indulged ourselves, but would have been happy in the other casitas. The casitas upgrade allows you to reserve meal times (through your concierge) and arrange for a shuttle to deliver you to your meal as well.
If you are looking to get away from it all and looking for great service and food, you should investigate El Dorado

Room Tip: If you can, go for the Casitas. They have their own pools (ooutside the casitas, and the concierge s...

Absolutely loved this hotel. We upgraded to a Casita which gave us certain privileges ie Use of certain parts of the beach, being able to pre-book the many restaurants where normal guests would have to take their chance on availability.
The concierge were wonderfully friendly and helpful.
The food at all the restaurants was first class.
The casitas were spacious , comfortable and clean. We had a jacuzzi, an outdoor shower and a separate bathroom.
The friends we went with had been there before and have been back since, only 2 weeks ago, and enjoyed the experience as much as previous occasions. We plan on returning to this lovely hotel within the next 12 months or so.

We have visited many resorts but this has to be the top by far. From the minute we arrived at the resort we were given exceptional service. The Casita's have it's own lobby/check in area, concierge service and activities/tours operator. Our room was beautiful but would have preferred a ground floor unit with the swimup. We were located in the Casita's unit 30. All of the Casita's units have their own pool, swimup bar, swimup rooms, pool bartender and beach butler. The restaurants are all 5 Star and deserve the dress code. The AI service is all top quality and service. 24 hour room service and top shelf liquors. There was no chair saving by the pool or beach. Our pool never had more than 20 people in it at one time. The beach area for the Casita's were not crowded at all and had exceptional butler service. Be sure to take swim shoes as the beach itself is cool and soft but the ocean is rocky and shell covered and requires the shoes. I can not express the exceptional quality and service that this AI resort affords. I wish that we had discovered this resort before we bought our membership in Cabo San Lucas.

Room Tip: Be sure you ask for the Casita's with a swimup room.

This resort is wonderful. My husband & I have been to several all-inclusives and I rate this as one of the best. Resort is big so be prepared to walk but if you don't want to walk they have shuttles/golf carts that run all day so you can catch one. Walking was a good thing for us with all the good food and drink we had while there!!

Several different restaurants to choose from. Most of them just required nice shorts & shirts for men. Some had no flip flop rule but sandals were fine. Women could wear the same. Along with sundresses etc. The thing that i feel could be better is the restaurants being more accommodating of larger groups (ie 6 or more). We ran into the issue a few times. Definitely make your dinner reservations earlier than later. Some restaurants didn't require it but some do. Services was always good. Portion are smaller. Which is good for me but maybe not for others.

Pools were clean and pool bars were very accommodating. Good selection of liquer and either Tecate or DosEquis beer. Other bars/main bars have even larger selection of liquer and beer.

We stayed in the casitas and was well worth it. Having your own conceirge was very helpful. Rooms were very nice. Big and roomy and the air conditioning was awesome!! We definitely keep your room cold! Which i love!! We were in room 2608 in the casitas and our patio door opened up and we walked right out to the pool and bar. Was perfect for bathroom visits. We were with a group for a wedding so we just left the patio unlocked and our FRIENDS could just go in and not have to use the public ones or walk to their rooms. Beach was right there as well.

Lots of chaise lounges and cabana beds to relax in. We never had a problem with getting a chair in the mornings. No having to get out there at dawn to mark your chair!!!

My husband and i were amazed how clean the public restrooms were. And the A/C kept them VERY cool. We were walking to breaskfast one morning around 7:30am and he stopped at one, kind of reluctantly, but amazed. It was spottless that early in the morning and even throughout the day!!

Minibar/chiller in our room was well stocked with water, soft drinks, beer, juice and snacks. They restocked it everday and if you wanted more of a specific item your conceirge would let them know and it was done!!

We would highly recommend this resort and would go back.

We were there for a small wedding and they handled everything for the bride and groom. The bride said they were wonderful. Did hair, etc. This was great since the bride lives in texas and was working everything from phone and email.

We visited EDR Casitas for 2 weeks in May. This was our second visit. The resort is just as beautiful as even, maybe more so. This time we were in Block 30, which I prefered to 29 where we were last time. Block 30 gets more sun round the pool. We were upgraded to a Swim-up by our booking agent, Blue Bay, when we booked. The Swim-ups are perfect, the Junior Suite very spacious & the outdoor shower exotic. Bed so comfortable & chosing your own pillow is a bonus for a good night's sleep. The A/C was one of the best I have had anywhere, better than in Bl;ock 29 last year. The suite could be improved by a comfortable couch or seating. When you are indoors there is nowhere comfortable to sit except for the bed. That is not compatable with a resort in this price range. The outside area is lovely with the decking & the outdoor bed but cramped. We solved this by moving the furniture around slightly. The chairs out there are hard as a rock & again, in a resort of this level pads should be provided. Comfort is slightly lacking in the areas I have mentioned.
The pool area was lovely & our barman & pool butler worked so hard & looked after us very well. During our stay unfortunately a very obnoxious guest did his best to spoil a couple of days for the other guests & in particular the staff at our pool & around the resort generally. Compaints were made by many people & in the end the couple were evicted. These people were neither British or American. Kudos & praise to the resort for taking this action. However, I think it should have been done sooner.
Our concierges were very good. The time-share thing which some complain about is not a problem. If you aren't interested just say so. They will return to the matter again over the 2 weeks but will give up when they know you aren't interested.
Food was once again very good. This time the Casitas Italia was the best, food, service, everything perfect, in fact better than perfect. Wonderful.
One thing I would criticise is lunch. Since last year they have closed one of the buffet restaurants & this puts too much pressure on the other lunch places which can't cope with numbers. Unfair to the staff too. Just too many queues everywhere. There is a gourmet corner which serves a wonderful Paella on Tuesdays but only a few tables. The same with the Health Bar for lunch, hardly any tables. Often we would give up & just have room service but the menu is limited & gets repetitive. The Oriental restaurant is a good option for lunch but the menu has been reduced since last year & again gets repetitive.
Also this year only one of the buffet restaurants is open for breakfast, last year there were two. We are early risers so had no problem walking straight in to a table but some days when we were leaving there was a very long queue right round the place, snaking around the tables where people were eating. Like a canteen.
But I must stress we had a wonderful holiday. Just a few improvements that could & in the case of the restaurants, should be made. Another thing I would suggest is that the Bellini bar as the Casitas be kept open much later, 10.30pm is too early & it closes promptly, you will be asked to leave. It is a stunningly beautiful bar with excellent drinks.
We were given a complimentary Candle-lit beach dinner as we did last year & once again this was a highlight of the stay. This time we opted for the Lobster dinner & it was amazingly good. Can highly recommend,.

Room Tip: A swim up Casita is the way to go
