“Beautiful & Cosy Cottage stay”

A group of four of us decided to visit Donegal over the New Years period and came across Hughie's cottage online.

After contacting him about booking it for a few nights, he got back pretty rapidly with all details and we went ahead and booked. So glad we did.

We planned on visiting Glenveagh National Park on our first day (roughly an hour and a half from the cottage) which is definitely worth visiting!!

When we arrived in the afternoon, Marion had lit the stove and soon after arrived to make sure we had settled in with everything then left us to it.

The cottage itself was really lovely, brilliant views and lots of space. The living area and large kitchen were a bonus as we had planned to cook and relax for part of the trip.

The beds were really comfortable and towels were provided which was a real bonus.

We visited the local bar in Gleneely on both nights and had a brilliant time - their pizzas and Guinness being a definite highlight!

We visited Malin head too, which was roughly 25 mins drive from the cottage and worth the trip!

We were able to check out 'at our leisure' on our final day which meant there was no real rush. Overall, the whole process of booking was really easy and I'd definitely recommend the cottage for people looking for a cosy and peaceful stay.

Thanks again, we absolutely loved it.

“Great place to stop”
Reviewed October 23, 2017 for a stay in October 2017

All good, great view, warm and cosy during the hurricane. Recommend the Orchard Inn for food, walkable ~15 mins. Derry ~ 30 mins drive. It takes ~ 2hrs from Belfast. McGuiness's in Culdaff was warm and welcoming too. Go to Nancy's Barn in Ballylyffin for the chowder.

“Absolutely Fantastic Cottage”
Reviewed November 29, 2016 for a stay in November 2016

My partner and I and Perry our red setter...stayed for three nights in this wonderful cottage. On our arrival the stove in the sitting room had been lit for us and made the cottage so cosy for us. The cottage itself has been restored to such a high standard and we really enjoyed lighting the original range in the kitchen.... such an experience. It was a a lovely and unexpected touch by the owner to supply turf and coal for the fires for the duration of our stay.We really enjoyed our stay especially as we could bring our faithful hound with us and will be returning in the New Year.

“Great stay at Cavanaghs cottage”

We stayed at Cavanaghs cottage for a week during June found the whole experience from booking to departing hassle free, the kids loved the built in bunk beds with TV/DVD. We stayed in the room with the French bed and found it so cozy and relaxing and had a great sleep. The open fires and shed load of irish turf to burn away the nights was lovely, The cottage and the area is just Beautiful hopefully we will return next year ! Thanks Mags and family
