We visited McGrory's in Culdaff for something to eat recently. I have been in the restaurant before and it was excellent, but we went for the bar menu this time. The food was excellent - particular recommendation going to the home-made tomato and basil soup from my wife. Information on gluten content in the food was well known by the staff and gluten free bread is available without any fuss. The people working their are friendly and professional and the service was excellent. The bar is medium sized and comfortable. McGrory's is a world-famous music venue and the evidence was there. There was a brilliant session there that night. I would recommend McGrory's very highly indeed. If you like good food and great music, its the place for you.

We went to McGrory's of Culdaff for a folk night of Irish folk music on a Tuesday. It was a great night with a very relaxed atmosphere. You can buy your drink and listen along.

Suggest that you go early to ensure you can get a seat.

We stayed for two nights in August. We generally enjoyed our time there. Music in the bar both nights was excellent. A group of Swedes were particularly enthralled with the trad music! Our room large and comfortable. As others have said, WIFI was erratic at best, which is disappointing, given there was a charge for it. The staff were very attentive and friendly, although given other reviews we read before travelling we did try to figure out who the subject of one particularly bad review was! We both decided on the same restaurant waitress in the end, but to be fair we were satisfied enough with the service.

We hadn't been to this part of Donegal before and two days simply wasn't enough. There is so much to see and the scenery is stunning. We will certainly be visiting again, hopefully for a longer stay and would be happy to lodge at McGrorys again.

I probably wouldn't stay there with my wife but for a group of golfers it was fine.

Good points - generally very obliging staff and decent, if uninspiring food. Plenty of musical entertainment in the bar and wide range of drinks on offer. Weekend rate of €130pp for 2 nights b&b and one evening meal was good value. Easy access to several golf courses. Friendly management.

Bad points - the service was haphazard at times - staff would wander in and out of the bar and ignore those waiting to be served as they were doing something else - a simple 'be with you in a minute sir/madam' would go a long way to easing the frustration. Rooms are very variable in size and quality and if several people are having a shower at the one time the temperature varies a lot. We had a big room yet our bathroom was tiny with no bath. Rooms at the front can be noisy as the smokers are immediately below. As others have mentioned the WIFI is unreliable.

At the end of the day it's a pub with rooms so if you don't expect the Ritz you'll probably be quite happy with it - despite the niggles we enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Avoid the front of the hotel - rooms at the back may be smaller but are quieter and there's no v...

My wife & I had a 3 night stay here in August & we were reasonably satisfied with our experience. Room was clean & comfortable albeit not very big Bath towels were quite small but very good shower..We could not connect to wi-fi either in our room or in the hotel reception area which was quite annoying & there was a charge for using the internet.
The restaurant was quite good but service was slow although staff were very friendly. The bar was lively & was a great feature of this hotel. Despite it being busy service was very good.
Overrall this is a decent place to stay & explore the area but is a little pricey for the offering.

Stayed here for 2 nights for lunch relaxing break. Couldn't have timed it better with live music on the Monday night and a traditional session on the Tuesday. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly in both hotel and bar. The room we stayed in was huge with everything needed for a pleasant and comfortable stay. The breakfast was great with freshly cooked hot food to order. We ate in the bar the second night and the food was lovely. Highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break.
