I travelled solo to Chacala in November 2013 and stayed at the Casa Pacifica on the recommendation of a friend. It was an excellent choice for several reasons. First, Chacala itself is a rare find these days – a peaceful, undeveloped, safe and friendly beach town. The beach is a blissful curve of soft sand and the water is calm and warm. Floating in the ocean looking up at the birds of Chacala is the closest thing to paradise I’ve experienced. Casa Pacifica B&B is about a 7-minute walk to the beach, situated in an exquisite garden setting with a beautiful, expansive view of the ocean in the distance. The sounds of the birds and the tropical foliage envelop the senses. I stayed in the Blue Hawaii suite with kitchenette, which was comfortably designed and furnished. All the rooms are lovely. Travelling on my own, what I appreciated most about Casa Pacifica, apart from its natural beauty, is the atmosphere of inclusiveness and sociality that the owner, Susana, creates for her guests. She is very hospitable and generous in extending invitations to various events in the community and arranging outings of different kinds. In short, she enjoys people and bringing people together. One is of course free to partake or not, but I welcomed these opportunities to meet and share with others in the B&B and community. This review would not be complete without mentioning the wonderful staff, such as Berta, who cooked delicious breakfasts and was an absolute delight. I had a wonderful time in Chacala, and staying at the Casa Pacifica was a big part of the experience.
