“Beautiful Black Forest”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 27, 2014

We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by a smiling very pleasant hotel owner. There is no lift, but we requested a low floor and there was just one flight of stairs. The bedroom was traditional and nice, adequate size. The beds are Austrian style two separate matracies, but together. We had a lovely view of the hills and trees. The hotel is situated in a very pretty village, surrounded by pine tree clad hills. The hotel is spottlessly clean as are the bedrooms. The dining area is again very nice and cosey. The hotel owner works very hard, he is also the chef and prepares the meals. The food was plentiful and hot, presented nicely and imagination was used in some of the creations, which was nice. The waitress Adena worked very hard, serving all the guests, sometimes on her own and there was 26 on our coach tour and no one waited long. She also served us with drinks after our meal and noticed if your glass was empty, always smiling and pleasant, nothing was too much trouble for her or the owner and the rest of the staff. Breakfast was a buffett and again was very nice good choice of, hams, cheese, boiled eggs, different breads, jams, cerials and juices and fresh fruit. We were also provided with a packed lunch each day, freshly made of sausage meet or cheese, with a musilie bar and fruit drink and apple. We also were provided with a local entertainer one night who was also the Black Smith and he was excellent he played the accordian and sang which was very enjoyable. I certainly would recomend this hotel and the area it is in.

Room Tip: Low floor if walking difficulties

This is a nice hotel but does not have rooms on the ground floor and does not have a lift. The rooms are pleasant and clean but the bath towels are a bit the worse for wear. Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager with a box of keys asking for some of the members of our party of 31 to volunteer to stay at another building 100 metres away and to walk back each day for breakfast and evening meal. The food was very good as was the service. A packed lunch was provided each day but was the same every day - 1 ham roll,1 Cheese roll, meusli bar and an orange drink.

Only stayed here for one night - 1 night was to long - arrived here at 6.30pm to be greeted by the owner carrying a tray with 20 Keys on it and he aske who would like to stay in his flats which were located a hundred yards or more down the street. I refused and was given a room in the main Hotel my room was a double room but was only the size of a single the bathroom was small and the roof sloped very steeply which meant you had to keep your head & neck bent while you used the toilet(I am only 5ft 7ins tall) the bed was very uncomfortable and very thin pillows. Ledger Tours advertise porterage however this hotel refused to supply it which meant all the passengers had to carry all their own luggage. I had to carry both my cases up two flights of circular staircases each with 14steps I am a fit 70yr old but on our coach there were many older than me and less fit. Needless to say many of the passengers refused to carry their cases which meant the Bus Driver had to do the portering. Dont stay here on any account stay in another Hotel

Room Tip: Dont Stay here at all
