We recently spent a weekend at Mabalingwe at the Ingwe Camp. As we arrived, we had to do some acrobatics to get into the door as a Warthog female was lying at the door with her newborn piglets. We did not want to disturb her, so we had to do some lateral thinking to get it!
Mabalingwe is a close drive for people coming from Johannesburg and Pretoria and it gives one the feeling of being out in the bush, although still relatively close to the big cities. The units are well designed, well maintained and very comfortable.
If one wants to see animals, then this is perhaps not the right place, as there are not huge numbers of animals in their nature reserve. However, there are plenty of warthogs roaming around the camps and judging by the amount of piglets we saw, there will soon be more warthogs than people.
We had dinner at the restaurant on Saturday night and found the food to be very average and very expensive.
Despite this, we had a very enjoyable weekend and I would definitely recommend Mabilingwe for a weekend getaway retreat.
