Protea Hotel by Marriott Zebula Lodge
Certificate of Excellence

Huge variety of accommodation for leisure weekends where you can rent a house and fairly realistic rates. The main lodge accommodaiton is superior 4*, but could be in need of at least a soft refurbishment shortly. Waterberg Lodge is super and has lovely bush style accommodation. Zebula is useful for conference delegates too. The main conference room is very basic indeed but I guess serves the purpose. Waterberg Lodge has better conference facilities for small groups up to about 25 delegates. What's nice about the resort is there is so much on offer facilities wise and activities that are available. There's something for everyone. These are fairly pricey on the whole though. They have a lovely spa but I find it fairly expensive. A great golf course too. The food has improved a lot in recent months. All in all well worth visiting.

Dear SMoss101,

Thank you for taking the time to write your kind comments.

We are very pleased to hear you were satisfied with our wide variety of accommodation.

Since your last stay with us you will be happy to hear that we’ve recently upgraded our main conference room and we also introduced top of the art technology in this venue, like the WePresent system. We also added an extra conference venue at Waterberg Lodge which can seat up to 40 delegates in theatre style.

At Protea Zebula Lodge we have a wide variety of activities for the whole family offered at very competitive prices.

We look forward to your next visit.

Kind regards
The Zebula TEAM

We stopped in for lunch recently. Was lovely to see the animal experiences but the service in the restaurant was shocking - waited over an hour for a toasted cheese and tomato - and it is OTT expensive (4 milk shakes and 2 plates of chips cost R220.00!). Must confess that we did not do much else but first impressions were that it is not really a game experience but more like a wildlife feature in Sandton.

We went there for lunch on New Year's Day which was fantastic. The food was good, the cocktails were great. All in all a great experience and one I would love to repeat! The zebra just beside the 18th hole kept the kids occupied for a bit and the tiger cub was so gorgeous. I'm the only person I know who's been bitten by a tiger (only a little nip - but I tell the ladies it was a bite!)

We stayed in the bush lodges this past weekend, and had a lovely stay. We found the staff friendly and helpful - more so than many other hotels and restaurants we've gone to recently. My partner enjoyed the golf course, and I had a relaxing visit to the spa. The chalets were well-appointed, comfortable, and with beautiful, private views onto the bushveld. We found both the upstairs restaurant and breakfast buffet to be enjoyable. Our only complaints would be the time it took to have ice delivered to our room, and that one should opt for the filet over the sirloin. That said, the restaurant staff made every effort to compensate for the sirloin error. Overall, we would recommend Zebula and plan to visit again in the near future.

Room Tip: We stayed in lodge 20, which is a distance from the main lodge, but offered a quiet and private loca...

I did not stay at the property however I played golf and had lunch at the estate. The course is incredible and pro shop staff helpful and friendly. The up stairs bar restaurant was a disaster, service and food terrible. The safe food is the burgers other than that you are wasting your money or will be let done. Halfway house food also been sitting all day.

We are frequent Zebula visitors. We usually stay at different privately rented homes and spend some time either having drinks or breakfast at the hotel. The staff are rude and unhelpful! I think they do not understand what 5 star service is! South Africa is known for their hospitality and friendliness but Zebula obviously doesnt know what this means!
