Owner description: Centrally located at Carrara on the beautiful Gold Coast, only a stone's throw from Surfers Paradise and Broadeach - Carrara Markets is the biggest permanent marketplace in Australia with over 400 market stalls. Its a treasure trove of the curious and the unusual & the original home of discount shopping when it comes to fresh produce, fashion, homewares, pots, plants, bric a brac, souvenirs, arts & crafts and just about everything else! For over 30 years Carrara Markets has been a major Gold Coast tourist attraction and a great family day out with pony rides, baby animal farm, face painters & a bungy trampoline. It's home to Luke's Reptile Kingdom, a breathtaking interactive show featuring dozens of Australia's unique and unusual creatures including very rare species and the world's most venomous snakes. It also has its own putt putt mini golf attraction where kids play free with each paying adult.

Wheelchair friendly market well worth a visit. Typical market with lots of tee shirts and the usual market items. A nice way to waste a little time and also have an eat as there are plenty of food outlets

For visitors to the Gold Coast the Carrara Markets are a must. Very popular, so if you don't like crowds it might not suit. However I do recommend try getting there early or after lunch to avoid the larger crowds.

We visited the markets along with our young son recently. I thought the market was a waste of time, I got lost as there is no real direction or organisation to the place. There is some nice stuff to buy, some new and some second hand, it is a large market but the aisles and stalls just dart around the place and you could easily get lost! We brought some things but didn't stay long.

While we were on holiday in Surfers we visited the Markets in May 2013, and would recommend it to anyone who likes a good old rummage - a particular interest was the lane that had typical second hand goods. The markets cover everything from shoes, clothes, fruit & vegies to eateries - something for everyone. Also particularly loved the scarf shops that were reasonable priced - so, go have a look - transport is easy with designated buses to and from the gold coast and if you haven't had enough shopping time then stop off at Pacific Fair or Broadbeach - neither will disappoint.
