This restaurant is on the main Gold Coast Highway, but a little way out on the north side of town. It's slightly set back from the road with a little cover, so there's no noise issue. It's tucked in straight after another Chinese restaurant, David Fung's Chinese restaurant. I actually was confused and ducked in this restaurant first, but then saw its neighbour and moved on.
The first signs inside this restaurant were very positive, with a large Chinese clientele. As we found out though, they catered to all-comers readily with the menu written well in both Chinese and English (mostly - there was a separate insert that was Chinese only, but there were enough choices elsewhere it didn't matter).
The decor was out of place though; as I found out later this was a completely different restaurant until recently, so apparently they left the same pictures on the wall as before. While in good condition, there's no relevance to Chinese cuisine or anything else in the current restaurant!
Of the food itself, portion sizes are good, as was the taste. Service was readily available when needed but not intrusive, and always happy to oblige. All of us there came out very happy with the choice and experience, including choice and quality served.
Overall, it's a good, semi-formal place to have a meal with family or friends. Tables are covered with white linen and furnishings are nice, but it's not lavish, being a way from downtown - in the good, suburban restaurant category. There's a fair range of tables so they can cater for different size groups
