“Very disappointed”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

We took friends there for breakfast on 28th December. We had previously been there a few times, but just for coffee. My wife wanted only mushrooms on toast, and asked if this was possible (it certainly was). It came as two pieces of toast (which, like everybody else's, seemed fried) with a side of about 7 small slices of mushroom. We worked out (from what others ordered) that she was simply given (and charged for) the Bacon, Eggs, Tomato & Toast with an extra of mushrooms, but hold the bacon, eggs and tomato. Really!! None of us were satisfied with the food (especially the toast). If that's the best they could do with their computerised ordering system in a small cafe, then they need to rethink the system. The only possible redemption might be that it was between Xmas and New Year and perhaps the regular staff were off, but that could be just wishful thinking.

“Excellent coffee and light meals”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

We experienced excellent coffee over a week of visiting. We also enjoyed a freshly cooked breakfast that was good value. The staff and owner were very obliging.

“Great result”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

I organised a get together for a milestone birthday at this café en route to another restaurant at Sanctuary Cove as the Quay Street Café do not as yet do dinner although I understand they are doing dinners over the summer.

I and all my guests were delighted with the quality of the food (nibbles) and the reasonable drinks prices. Glenn and his team went out of their way to ensure the two hour stay was as enjoyable as possible and I recommend this place to anyone looking to do something similar.

Great way to start what was a superb evening

“Terrible service - Avoid at all costs”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

The owners of this café ( who's service skills are beyond appalling) Should be ashamed and embarrassed about the outfit they run. Given that they own a family run business , it is clear that they have passed these undesirable traits onto their staff.

How horribly disappointing for the other vendors at Sanctuary cove . Putting so much advertising into getting people to travel to the Cove and enjoy what it has to offer only to be let down buy these people. Quay Café should be renamed to Conflict Café , and the so called service ordinated family owned business should be renamed Family feud of family flop.

They say one bad apple spoils the barrel and that's exactly what this business owner did.

After waiting over 20 odd minutes of ordering and with not even drinks in site , We approached the counter to be served by a more mature lady ... half way through a sentence of asking how much longer we would have to wait .. she picks up the ringing phone .

Now , I would of thought a lady of that age would know a little better, it is scary to think that if you are going to go into the service business .....you should actually know what service means.

This is just common sense.

Having finally been served our drinks which consisted of a very warm iced coffee ( the kind of warm that you get if the milk is left out on the bench for a long time ) we had run out of time to eat our meals that still hadn't arrived. Again going to the counter to ask for a refund due to the wait and the fact that we had other plans and never expected any meal to take this long.. The owner and what seems to be his sons , chose to pick a fight and not give our money back .

These people clearly have no idea about the fair trading act.
However I will be forwarding this experience onto them as this is not on. We had paid for a service that want not delivered upon and this is a big no no .

Although I would go for more into the other events that took place. I will the rest of the story for the Gold Bulletin. I rank this place as the worst café in the in Gold Coast.

Might be time to rethink your vocation ... or stop resenting the fact that you have to serve customers .... as that is your job .

And do your employees a favor and start being a responsible employer and teach them some skills and respect . Once they leave your employment they will be faced with the rude awaking that the world will not tolerate such disgusting behavior .

Especially the very unprofessional girl who took your business cards off the counter so we couldn't complain.

My suggestion to the owners , it may be time to sit back and reflect on how you are teaching your Family owned business and employees , do you believe given that we only wanted our money back and now due to your unprofessional and quick shocking behavior , it now have us sharing our experience .. was it worth it ?

As you never refunded our money we will be sharing this experience so others don't have to endure such terrible service . Sanctuary Cove has wonderful restaurants and displays five star service , Yours is not one of them .
