Visited the PB Hotel again on Thursday, 3rd visit now for our family and friends and it was once again good value and good quality food. Pub food seems to have climbed in price so the first time we went to Palmy Hotel we were pleasantly surprised by their specials menu and prices overall. You can hunt down a shopper docket (back of the supermarket dockets) or visit the hotel website and print out a voucher to get a great deals.
We've gone in a large group 15+ each time so had the big long table beside the entry to gaming room, ambience is nothing exciting but the whole pub never seems crowded or noisy and there are lots of smaller tables to the road frontage for smaller groups. Wine selection is good, some nice reds and Sauv blancs by the glass plus the usual beers and spirits. Staff are friendly and have always managed to get all the meals out together - thanks Chef.
Meals last visit were: entrees; an awesome mushroom soup to start for me (came with 4 slices of toasted turkish bread), cheese and bacon bread entee for hubby, followed by veal parmigana (the 17 year old stomach on legs couldn't finish it), fettucine bolognaise for the 13 year old (thumbs up), a kapital curry (choice of prawns or chicken, spicy served with a naan bread) and bangers on mash. Everyone was happy with their selection and the salads that came with mains were generous and fresh. The graziers pie also looked really tasty and the men having steaks all looked very happy with their meat and portion sizes.
Plenty of parking out the back of the hotel, generous portions, fresh and interesting menu (just changed in June) and a specials board, all at family friendly prices. What's not to love?
