Fantastic rooms, plenty of room with all the amenities. However rooms were not serviced during the whole 7 day stay this meant that we had to go out and buy basics such as toilet paper, sugar and tea/coffee. Given the great weather of the Gold Coast, swimming pools and the proximity to the beach, why are kids club activities inside a reconditioned motel room with Xbox games? The pools are great as are the tennis courts. This is not a resort, rather it is a motel with a couple of swimming pools. For the same money we could of gone to Fiji, had serviced rooms, a range of activities and a kids club that encourages the kids to play outside. A great venue for couples, but our 9 and 11yr old soon got bored. None of the onsite facilties e.g cafe, bar, pizza place have room chargeback, this meant that you need to constantly carry your wallet with you. I would not be recommending Turtle Beach to other families as a resort. For the same facilities, you can get a motel anywhere along Mermaid Beach.

Dear Hewer-Hewitt,
Thank you for taking the time to complete a review of your stay on Trip Advisor.
I appreciate your comments regarding the rooms not being serviced during your stay, however we do advertise ourselves as Self Contained Apartments, which may be where the confusion lies. Our kids club is located on the ground floor of the Resort and has an outdoor area for the children to play in should they wish; it is purely up to the children which activities they would like to be involved in and some of these activities may lay indoors rather than outside. There are 4 pool areas, an 18 hole putt putt course, 2 tennis courts as well as 42 km’s of beaches at our doorstep, however as these activities legislatively require a different carer to child ratio as well as different insurance coverage, the option for us to take your children to another location is not a feasible at this stage. I am confident that there are no resorts, hotels, motels or serviced apartments in Mermaid Beach with facilities that surpass our own, however understand that accommodation location it is a personal choice and will differ from one guest to another.
Thank you again for your comments.
Kind regards
Melanie

Stayed here many times, room had just been refurbished so in excellent condition. Very family friendly, lots of pools to try out. Can't wait for the planned water park area. The kids always enjoy the mini golf and the Pizza Bar. It was a great way to relax after 2 and a half weeks traveling through Malaysia.

We stayed for 10 nights, glad we pre purchased food vouchers at a discounted rate and dined at both the cafe and pizzeria which are very conveniently located within the resort. The pools are great . Can't say it is pleasant having smokers polluting the air on thier balcony as appealing... room furniture is a little dated . Would highly recommend this place for families but if you are on a honeymoon or on a couples get away probably not.

If you want best value for money and dont want to leave the resort this is the place for you.
Great choice of pools, family movies for the kids in the cinema, well kept BBQs, trampolines, tennis courts and great service. If you get bored with this then the Gold coast is at your beck and call.

This was our second trip to Turtle Beach Resort and we worried it wouldn't live up to our first trip. The worry was unecessary though as this trip was even better!
Last time we had a ground floor apartment, this time we were on the second floor, which we prefered. Yes we had to walk up and down three flights of stairs with three kids and a stroller but it was worth it for two balconies that kept the kids in (the ground floor apartment 'balcony' we stayed at last time didn't have a railing so the balcony opened on to the footpath). We also had much better views being higher up and we got some sunshine on the balconies too (the ground floor apartment was completely shaded).
This apartment also had a better layout as compared with our ground floor apartment. There was a great breeze through the apartment when the balcony doors were open and the second beroom was separated from the first which, again, we prefered.
Finally, this apartment was labelled as 'superior' which seemed to mean updated furniture which actually made a huge difference to modernising the space. The leather couches were so much better than the ratten style ones we'd had last time!
We enjoy this resort as a family friendly space. The pools are great (lovely warm temp) and the water slide is a fantastic addition that thrilled our five year old to bits. We used Club Turtle one night and our daughter had fun, however, we thought $32.50 was on the expensive side for the activities she participated in (mainly watching movies and playing video games with a bit of painting thrown in).
The staff at the front desk were friendly, efficient and happy to help.
It would have been great to have had a cleaning spray included as a part of the kitchen supplies. We knew from last time to bring our own washing powder and dishwashing liquid, next visit we will bring cleaning spray and toilet paper too (four rolls for four people for a week wasn't enough). Our other minor complaint was that whilst the beds were comfortable, the comforters on top of them were heavy and dated. We removed them immediately and slept under the spare blankets provided instead.
It was a great trip and we'll go back again. Value for money is fantastic, especially as we signed up to the Turtle Beach newsletter and spotted a great deal that included a free family pass to Dreamworld with our accommodation booking. That saved us over $250 alone!

Room Tip: Don't be afraid of second floor rooms. Paying the $40 per night to ensure a ground floor appartm...

Turtle Beach is a nice resort to stay, very family friendly and close to shops (Pacific Fair). It also has easy access to the main attractions, although a little far from the beach. Plenty of activities and good coffee on site. Don't come to town during the super cars , disruption to traffic is madness. They are also building light rail which makes traffic worse.

Dear Jason
Thanks for staying with us and for posting your review.
Luckily we are a little South of all of the light rail construction and V8 track so access to the majority of the theme parks and beaches is still a breeze. The light rail will be a great asset for the Coast and will allow fabulous access from Broadbeach all the way to Griffith University, through Surfers Paradise and Southport.
Jason, we hope to be able to welcome you and your family here on your next visit.
Kind regards
Melanie

Heard alot of great things about this Resort and i think average for me would best sum it up, we have been to Thailand Resorts on several occassions and this resort just has a pass mark, the website makes it look better than it is, for instance the Gym is not up to stratch, the pools are alot smaller than they look and for me it was abit of a let down.
I spoke to a previous owner of one of the apartments of this resort and he said they had not upgraded in quite awhile so never mind.
I think this would best suit a family with young children, if you have teens I would not stay here due to alot of restrictions, re around the pool area, ever tried to keep a teen quite in that environment, we have 9yr old kids and after this I will go elsewhere to stay.
We had a two bedroom unit which was adequate.

Dear Dave
Thanks so much for taking the time to post your review and for choosing to stay with us. I appreciate all of your feedback and understand that each family and individual member will have different needs and desires for their holidays, and Turtle Beach Resort certainly can’t cover every level of expectation. What we do try to do is to offer value for money in a family friendly environment in the self-catering market.
Over the last 2 years we have spent substantial resources on upgrading our rooms and facilities to ensure that we stay fresh. Our southern pool has had the latest technology in pool cleaning systems installed, resulting in non-chlorinated asthma friendly water. This pool has also been fitted with a pool slide, which is enormously popular with our guests. All external surfaces of the Resort were freshly painted as well as our cinema and putt putt figures. Our kids club has be relocated and revamped with an outdoor grassed area built specifically for our littlies and 2 trampolines were purchased for the property. Approximately 40 of our “standard apartments” have had all the cane furniture removed and replaced, and this project will continue into 2014. Future developments are planned for 2014 and will incorporate a water park free for all of our guests as well as other exciting additions.
There are so many accommodation options in Australia and internationally and many of our most regular guests chose a variety of destinations for their holidays as well as staying with us. So keep an eye on our website and we might just be able to tempt you back with our new facilities in the future years.
Thank you again.
Melanie
