We stayed for 3 nights recently, just the two of us. We previously stayed across the road at the Versace, but thought we would give this place a try.

The rooms and lobby appear to have had a recent refurb and are quite nice. Lobby in particular.

The hotel is very large, so it can be a long walk back to the lobby if your room is right out on one of the wings (closer to the beach).

The pool is alright, but probably a bit disappointing. Not quite the 5 star service of say Thailand. Help yourself to your own pool towels, etc... No special service. Pool bar is a bit tired.

The guys out the front are very helpful and so was the concierge. Organised a hire car right out the front, both pick up and drop off.

Shops across the road in the Marina are quite good, with good coffee shops and restaurants as well as boutiques.

Overall, a nice hotel. Not as luxurious as the Versace, not the service of Thailand 5*, but still quite alright.

Room Tip: Further from the lobby means a better view, but a longer walk back!

Thank you for choosing Sheraton Mirage for your visit to the Gold Coast earlier this month. We appreciate your support, and also the time you have taken to post on your experience and the resort. And I have shared your compliments with our Porte Cochere and Concierge teams so they will know first hand of your appreciation for their helpful service.

Many thanks again for your post…and we hope you will return when your travels next bring you back to the beautiful Gold Coast.

After hearing about the revamp of the hotel we were quite excited for our stay.
The room itself was a spa suite and was lovely, however the air conditioner didnt work which made the room quite stuffy, the "king bed" was infact 2 single beds pushed together (something i find unacceptable for a 5 star hotel) and was very uncomfortable - Had we wanted 2 singles pushed together we would have stayed at a Motel on the highway. Also, there was nowhere near enough lighting in the room unless you had the curtains wide open (this wouldnt be a problem if the windows were tinted). The pool is lovely with plenty of sunbeds etc....
For dinner we had the Seafood Buffet, for 79 per head i expected more. Plenty of prawns and oysters but not much else....(deep fried food does not count) very disappointed. Breakfast wasnt much better, a good spread but not very tasty. An ok stay, but wouldnt stay again

Dear Loulou

Sincere apologies from our team that your recent stay fell far short of your expectations.

We are very sorry you experienced an issue with your air conditioning and that you found your bedding uncomfortable. This was especially disappointing as all rooms and suites in our hotel carry Sweet Sleeping bedding and whilst your room and others do have the option of 2 x king singles or 1 x king, when in the “zipped” mode this should not be discernible and should certainly not impact on the comfort of the bed.

If you could spare the time to reach out to Charlie McArthur (our Executive Housekeeper) here at the resort I know he would appreciate details of your room number which would enable him to follow up to see just what happened in relation to your bedding.

Loulou, thank you for taking the time to post on your experience. Our sincere apologies once again. Your indication regarding a return is noted and respected, however we do hope you might reconsider and give us another chance when you are next heading down to the Coast.

Warmly
Mark

We stayed 5 nights at the Sheraton Mirage and can highly recommend this hotel. The location is out out the hustle bustle of the Gold Coast and is located in a much nicer area. If you dislike the high rises and apartments of the Gold Coast then this hotel is for you.

The beach is just on the opposite side of the pool fencing. The pool was heated to 30 degrees (we stayed in Oct) and there are plenty of umbrellas and pool chairs. The pool bar is handy and a little on the pricey side. There is also a toddler pool which is separate to the main pool.

If booking ask specifically for a king size bed. The hotel will either give you two doubles or a king size bed. For a couple, the double beds are a little small. You need to pay for the internet which can be a little pricey.

The hotel is extremely clean and the buffet breakfasts are fantastic. The buffet dinner is also fantastic - lots of seafood.

You will need a car or a transfer from the Airport (about 32km from the hotel). Under cover car parking is available and free.

You can eat at the Marina Mirage or take a quick 2 minute drive to Tedder Ave. Tedder Ave s also walkable (about 10 mins).

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from Seaworld Drive. Ask for a king size bed otherwise as a couple you could en...

This is a pretty old property now, built during the excesses of the 80's but it still stands up well with renovations to many areas which keep it all in very good condition. The feature is all the large pool, and water weaving its way through the blocks and rooms.

We went there with kids, lovely pool and water, right on the beach and there was a tennis court also. You have to pay extra to rent this, which as a guest is a bit strange, given that the courts are in just average condition at best.

Food was just ok, there was nothing bad, but also nothing really that stood out. The buffet is expensive and while it is plentiful, it is nothing more than you'd expect in a club. You can buy the kids a "pass" which enables then to eat with you for free, but only in certain places, so watch out for that.

We had two groups of people staying on this weekend, we had a "villa' which had not been renovated, it was ok, but hardly in top condition. Our friends had a newly renovated room, and that was great.

Staff are all good and really do their best - no issue with service at all. All in all - still a great place, and for all his failings, have to thank Mr Skase for a pretty good vision all those years ago.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room

Stayed here for a week and had a great time. Staff were all very courteous and helpfull. Property was very clean and there was always room to lay out by the pool. I get annoyed staying at a top notch hotel where you have to go reserve pool chairs by 8am in order to find a space. Only one restraunt on property other than the pool bar but right across the street connected by a bridge over the street is a very nice shopping center with great shopping and restraunts. Lots of fun!

Well...I think this Hotel is the only choice when it comes to a Goldcoast getaway, Stay here if
you want a relaxing break away. We found this resort ticked all the right boxes for us...smart, tidy, great location and 60 second walk to the beach, if you are looking for a place to totally chill out this is it!. a short drive/bus trip into surfers or just pop across the road for top class shopping, dinning and great mariner views.
Yes you will pay a little more for this hotel, but when you leave and feel you have had a real holiday... you wont regret it one bit.
