Wow, beautiful and amazing attention to detail everything is versace. Beautiful pool area, friendly staff, 4 days is plenty to experience this amazing hotel. Plenty of dining options, rooms are spacious, and great service.

We stayed at the palazzo in the New year with our 2 young children and hired 2 interconnecting rooms. The hotel is a pale shadow of its former self when we last stayed in 2008. It is still head and shoulders above the other hotels on the Gold Coast but NOT 5 star and not really worth the money. The fabrics are tired, the concrete surround of the pool stained and cracking the furniture worn.

One of the problems around the pool, particularly when the hotel is busy, is that you have to rent a cabana ( double bed by the pool costing $50 per day) to secure a spot to sit as most of the free chairs have now gone. The pool toilets were also worse than a public amenity on the Hume freeway ( until I mentioned this to the management ). Some of the pool staff are more interested in preening themselves than real service.

The restaurants: Breakfast was excellent as usual but the wait staff acted like a collective headless chicken, a few individuals excluded, with long wait times for coffee etc. The evening buffet is also excellent. The gem however was their top of the range Veritas restaurant - helpful staff and exquisite food.

However the deal breaker for us was that my 3 year old found a used piece of sexual paraphernalia in the bedside drawer on our arrival - the room had obviously not been checked before we moved in! ( and a few difficult questions to explain!)

HELPFUL HINTS: ask for a room with access to the roof terrace (3rd floor) there is a personal lawn for those 4 rooms and the best standard rooms in the hotel.

Bring your own champagne for the minibar ( veuve in the hotel is $120) together with some water as this is no longer given free.

Room Tip: next to the roof terrace on the 3 rd floor

Dear Urosurgical

Thank you for providing us with feedback in regards to your stay at Palazzo Versace.

It is with great concern that I read your response, as what you have discussed certainly does not reflect the level of service nor attention to detail that Palazzo Versace has come to be known for.

With the luxurious surroundings and classical styling throughout the hotel, the maintenance program here at Palazzo Versace is extensive and ongoing. It is positive to hear that you find our facilities ‘head and shoulders’ above other properties as we do strive to provide the most memorable 5* experience for all to enjoy.

Please allow me to offer my sincerest apologies in regards to the offensive discovery that your 3 year old made during your stay, we have comprehensive checklists for our staff to follow to ensure incidents like yours do not transpire and this situation does not reoccur in the future. Our Executive Housekeeper has been made aware of the gravity of the situation, and her team has been addressed accordingly.

I would like to invite you to contact me directly at grm@palazzoversace.com.au so that we have the opportunity to reengineer your future stay.

Warm Regards

Had a great stay at the Palazzo Versace. Beautiful rooms, plenty of space some lovely touches such as oil burners, WIR, powder room etc. Had a problem with the TV and a very capable man with a tool belt and everything came and fixed it straight away. Can't recommend the restaurants and room service enough, everything was presented beautifully and was of an excellent standard. The service in the restaurants was also great. The guys at the front door are a real asset too, one even put out my husbands cigarette as he couldn't see the bin! Concierge very helpful & I thoroughly recommend the chauffeur driven tour around the coast with a very informative driver. The atmosphere is also very relaxed and the staff very welcoming, which is nice to see in such a large establishment. We stayed in a deluxe suite, originally booked 2 nights ended up staying for five nights as we couldn't leave it was that good.

Stayed here for 5 nights. A beautiful hotel with a beautiful pool area. We stayed in a superior suite which faced Seaworld Drive. It was a lovely suite with a separate bedroom, living area and spacious bathroom with spa bath. The buffet breakfast each morning was brilliant with a vast array of food. Service throughout the entire hotel was impeccable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

I surprised my wife with a weekend at the Palazzo Versace for our wedding anniversary. From the very beginning I knew it was going to be a good weekend. We were only waiting at reception for only a few minutes, in a queue when Martin came over to us and said if we would like to come to the counter opposite the reception counter he would be with us in a minute. The check-in was quick and professional, and Martin even personallly showed us to our room and described all the features of the room and the services of hotel. He noticed that I was carrying a leather bottle case (containing a bottle of Moet) and asked if we would like some ice sent up to us. Very observant and helpful. He also asked if we were celebrating something special. I advised him that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The room was magnificent, exceptionally well appointed with everything you could wish for. Big comfy bed, big fluffy bath and pool towels, very plush bathrobes and even slip-on Versace slippers.
Dinner at the Vanitas restaurant that night was out of this world. The staff and the service from every one of them was excellent. Matthieu was friendly and attentive without intruding and looked after us very well. When we were shown to our table he presented my wife with a card and a gift of a small bottle of Versace perfume for our anniversary. Foood was brilliant, wine was magnificent and we had a great night.
Next morning, we had the buffet breakfast by the pool. A lovely outlook and beautifully prepared food with great coffee. Checkout by Leah was fast, friendly and professional.
In summing up, an expensive weekend getaway, but in this case you certainly get what you pay for.

I have just stayed in a lagoon suite at the palazzo Versace. I stay in many 5 star hotels around the world and have never written a review before but feel moved to do so this time...let me summarise the good and bad...
- checking in, one person serving with a queue...
- room, suite was nice but no wifi in room (only in lobby) and no movies on demand plus poor DVD selection
- restaurants, lunch and dinner at vie were good (lunch v good and service excellent). Vanitas (fine dining) was TERRIBLE. Service was appalling, took 1.5 hours for the main course to arrive for a 9pm sitting. Then the food itself was very average. Queues for breakfast - empty tables sitting uncleaned for ages while we queued.
- wake up call for last morning didn't happen
- and best of all I wanted to give my feedback on checkout in response to the normal 'how did you enjoy your stay' but he didn't even bother to ask but did bother to inform me of the credit card surcharge on a visa.
I spent 4000 aud for 3 nights - poor value.

Dear Gary S

I was really disappointed reading your response, and would like to apologise for the issues that you encountered during your stay with us.

In regards to your unsatisfactory dining experience, I have discussed your feedback with our Executive Management Team who are both suprised and concerned about the slow service you received. We have a very high standard of delivery here at Palazzo Versace and they will share this with their team.

I am happy to announce that we are currently in the process of introducing WIFI throughout the hotel and will soon have movies on demand in all rooms which will eliminate the chance of missing out on the DVD of your choice.

I would very much like the opportunity for you to return to our hotel and to experience the true Palazzo style. Please contact me directly at grm@palazzoversace.com.au, and I would be more than happy to look after you on your visit.

We stayed here in April 2013. It was only overnight. The price was right and we had a buffet breakfast for two thrown in. When we arrived our room wasn't ready. But we were offered free drinks at Le jardin and were escorted there by the reception staff. My wife had booked a spa at aurora spa. They are a separate business but the use the hotel facilities. The change rooms were tired but presentable enough.

Our bags were not in our room when we got in a few hours later when the spa was completed.. but a call to reception and about 15 minutes later and it was resolved. Our turn down service didn't arrive until after we had returned from dinner and were almost asleep. That was after being asked to return at 7 when they arrived the first time 5 pm.

The hotel and rooms are starting to show their age. For example the ceilings in the main dining area near the glass are showing significant water damage. The car park was a bit of a mess with hotel furniture visible and seemingly stored all over the place. But the service, apart from the above, couldn't be faulted on our short stay.

We'd probably stay here again.

Dear _BadApple

Thank you for taking the time to review Palazzo Versace on Tripadvisor recently.

I am sorry that you encountered a variety of concerns during your stay and I do hope that this did not affect your overall stay with us. Attention to detail is key in providing the 5 star service for which we are renowned for, and I am happy to announce that we are currently working towards revamping our hotel.

Here at Palazzo Versace we have recently started refurbishing our rooms, and will have 50 rooms complete by the end of June (with a view to complete all rooms within the next year). I have had the chance to view some of the finshed rooms, and we are very excited with the end result.

Please email me directly at grm@palazzoversace.com.au should you return, and I would be more than happy to personally look after you.
