“Big meals”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

This place is not great but not bad either.
The meals are enourmous so consider sharing anything on the menu apart from entree's.
The scallops mornay comes out in a loaf dish but there is more sauce than anything else, evreything seems to have a lot of sauce?
We went as a party of 12 which was booked on a Saturday lunch the 15/912 and the place was not busy at all.
The staff were not that attentive and a little rude (they couldnt be bothered really).
You are given a sheet to write down what you want a bit hard when you have a group because if 3 people want steak and cooked 3 different ways there is nowhere to write that.
Given it was quiet surely the waitress could take the orders?
Anyway the meals are big so dont order too much

“Nowhere near as good as it used to be!”
Reviewed September 19, 2012

Once upon a time it was just about the busiest restaurant in the entire city. Really good quality meals at very good prices.

But after a change in ownership, sadly this restaurant has completely let go of the quality.

Went there on Friday for lunch. It should be busy but only about a dozen or so people were there (up to 1000 people can sit there).

I was unfortunate enough to have a hot fisherman's basket. What came out was over fried bits of seafood that appeared to come straight out of a frozen pack. No wonder I suffered some indigestion afterwards! Even the waitresses seemed somewhat embarrassed at what they had to serve us.

Even a small fish 'n' chip shop would do a far better job of it. Plus the interior could do with an update, it has hardly changed in the last 15 years or so (lose the tacky hand written table numbers on the walls!).

It's a decent restaurant if you like quantity but if you are after a genuine quality dining experience, I can't recommend this place at all.

“Really big meals, great for carnivores.”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

Now I really like my steaks, if you want a BIG steak dinner, this is the place.
Atmosphere is that of a steak house..... beer and meat, old carpet, decor a bit dated, but well, we are here for the steak.
Very reasonable cost considering the volumes of food on your plate.
Food service is very quick.
There are limited vegetarian options, well, it is a steak house.
I think I have a craving for a big steak just thinking about dinner here.

“Family Value”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

All the other reviews are correct. The servings are enormous, but it is not meant to be "modern french", so do not expect the latest gourmet delights - just quality tucker. The kids love to share a meal and pig out on the free garlic bread, the adults love to take home the uneaten portion and dad loves the economical price of the drinks, what more could a family want on a night out? The atmosphere is busy, friendly, happy and a little old fashioned. Probably the best value on the Gold Coast. Whenever we pick up friends at the Gold Coast airport, this restaurant is our stopover on the trip home to Brisbane.
