Zante as a whole is perfect laganas beach can get crowded by the bars but you can always find a spot please avoid the little wooden pyramids as thats where the turtle eggs are buried and they are precious! The sea is clear and the beach is clean mostly some of the holiday makers could do with learning to clean up after themselves but thankfully a lot of the locals really make the effort and those of us who appreciate it try to help too where we can highly recommend the islands to couples and families young and old thete is something for everyone

Laganas beach starts at the clubbing part of the island, so needless to say, during the height of the season it's only going to be a place for those who enjoy that type of atmosphere and I won't diss that as hey, we were all young once! Its an extremely long beach starting all the way from Kalamaki at the other end and we walked it three times during our stay, on the last occasion we had it all to ourselves. Parts of it are protected for turtles during mating season. We found it a really pleasant walk even when the weather was a bit blustery. If you're wanting to avoid the clubbing crowd then during the high season aim for the Kalamaki end which is also more suitable for children and families. The coastline has a number of sandbanks so its possible to wade quite far out in parts without getting too deep in the water. The Laganas end has a number of bars and restaurants. Of these we would recommend the Horizon.

We visited Laganas Beach, Zante at the end of the season so we had a lot of the beach to ourselves, just how we like it. We were lucky enough to catch the 'turtle beach guardians'. These are passionate volunteers who spend six months of the year protecting and monitoring the turtles, their nests and then hopefully, the hatchlings. I only hope that enough of the visitors to the beach, especially the large numbers at the height of the season, take on board the rules of the beach, so that the turtles can increase their numbers. There is enough beach for everyone, with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, the opportunity to get a drink or an ice cream and stretches of beach for walking looking for shells.

I visited Laganas Beach on late October. The scenery was magical. The sun was still shinning so I could swim. It was not crowded at all, although generally it is the most crowded beach of the island during summer. It was a pure pleasure for the eye the 9 klm coast of Laganas, since it is one of the longest beaches not only in Greece but also in the Mediterranean. I absolutely adored it, and I highly recommend it for short, off season holidays. It is the time when you feel that you are on a real Caretta Beach!

It's not the prettiest but it is enjoyable. There are a string of snack bars along the walkway which makes it convenient for an all day excursion.

I went to many beaches while driving around the island over a week and this one was the worst of them all. The very dark sand makes the water quite dark and while there is a lot of sandy beach, it's a slum area suited for those wanting to party every day and night, then get drunk till they can't remember their holiday.

There are plenty of other areas on the island to party but also have magnificent beaches and areas that suit all ages. Laganas Beach is like a sad, run down British seaside town. The beach has lots of facilities along it - cafes, bars, shops and water sports in the sea but so unattractive generally. All the other beaches have azure waters, gorgeous views but not this one.

Lovely to walk from Laganas to Kalamki and back. So clean and lots of places to stop along the way. Warm enough to swim in in October. Careful of the strong undercurrent, it's easy to get out of your depth without realising though

Sadly we are at the end of the season and many places closed. There is a long stretch of beach but it’s quality varied, probably because of the time of our visit.
Many souvenirs hops and small stores open. Would reserve judgement until I visit in high season.
Loved the sound of the waves and being able to relax, read and sunbathe.
