“Great Hotel in a lovely location”
Reviewed November 11, 2013

The Castelli Hotel is a lovely hotel in a really nice location - between Laganas and Agios Sosti's. Spiros, Anastasia and Maria are the lovely family who run the hotel - and their attention to detail is second to none. Spiros always remembers every guests first name - which is quite an achievement. The hotel is great for peole who want a really relaxing holiday. All staff in the hotel are very friendly and helpful, and are always there to help you should you need it - from car hire, to where to visit on the island, to booking lifts for you to local restaurants etc. Spiro has a BBQ every Saturday afternoon - which he cooks himself and it is really great value for money. The rooms are spotless, as is the pool area. The family also have there own farm, and guests can have guided tours. The hotel is surrounded by olive groves and lemon and orange trees. The breakfasts are good and the food served is very fresh - including eggs from the chickens in the farm. Zante is a beautiful island and it is worth hiring a car for a few days to visit the beatiful locations like Kampi, the shipwreck, Zante Town, Bochali - up the hill from Zante town for a very impressive veiw and lovely coffess & ice cream. Daphne and Banana beaches are also good places to visit, as is Gerakas in Vassilikous, in fact all places are lovely and worth visiting - we have travelled all over the island - as we have been there 6 times now, and plan to return next year.

Room Tip: The rooms overlooking the olive groves get the afternoon and evening sun.

The level of service that I received in this place was of complete excellence, The staff were very friendly, attentive and were also able provide helpful tips on places to visit and dine at. The only downside to this place was the location as there wasn't really much to do around there and there was no wifi in the rooms.

We are retired people who don't want a large hotel with entertainment every night. We want to go and relax somewhere warm, quiet and with sun if possible. We were welcomed from day 1 by Spiros and his family who proved to be very helpful with advice, car hire, local taverns, buses, taxies, all our needs really. Maria has taken charge now, but Spiros and Anastasia are still a major part of the business. They are proud of their hotel and are constantly seeking to make improvements usually based on customer comments. They have some land and grow several herbs, vegetables, fruit and olives which are used along with eggs from their chickens in the hotel. We have been 5 times now and look forward to being back at the Castelli. We are part of the Castelli family.

My husband and I have stayed at the Castelli Hotel for a number of years now, returning at least once a year for probably 15 years now. So I felt that I needed to stand up for this fabulous hotel with the friendliest staff in Greece - as there seem to have been a few criticisms made of it in recent Trip Advisor reviews.
If you are thinking of staying here next year, it comes highly recommended by many, many happy customers - ourselves included who return year after year to enjoy a wonderful relaxed holiday in a spotlessly clean hotel with fabulous service, in a fantastic location. Give it a try, especially for the price you will pay to stay here, it is incredible value for money. You will have five star service, with any question or problem that you may have solved quickly and with a smile.
I can truly say that we count Maria, Spiros and Anastasia as good friends, nothing is too much trouble for them to make their guests happy. We are always made so welcome and treated as part of their family - but this is also the same for first time guests!
Some people seem to have an issue with the shower - yes, this can be a messy time but if you simply ensure that the curtain is inside the shower tray and don't aim the flow of water at full force against it, you should be fine!
Another gripe seems to be the breakfast, which is advertised as continental - and this is what you get. It is always fresh, the area is spotless and if it's not enough for you then there is a great selection of cooked breakfasts at the pool bar for a very reasonable price. We are always happy with it though and can't really see why anyone would complain ;-)
You can never please everybody, but to my mind the Castelli staff are very close to it, we love the hotel and think that it would be a real pity if anyone was put off trying it because of a few minor niggles from a small minority. Read all the other positive reviews or this hotel and believe them - they're true - we can't all be wrong!

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool are cooler, however if you enjoy a bask in the late afternoon sun on your...

We went to Castelli for the first time last year and met some wonderful guests along with Spiros, Anastasia & Maria. We kept in touch with one couple and arranged to meet them there in September. We were recognised straight away which makes you feel very special and along with the couple we arranged to meet there were several other people we knew from last year. What an amazing place to holiday. We look forward to the next time.

Room Tip: We stayed on the other side of the hotel this year and I can think of plus points for both.

Holiday number 7 at the Castelli. It's truly the most wonderful place to relax and unwind. All the staff are brilliant and can't do enough for you. Roll on 2014 so we can go back to visit our Greek family and the many friends that we have made over the years :)

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool and gardens are cooler.

Well here I am again writing another review on the fabulous Castelli. I returned with my hubby for another great week & yes everything was just a good as always. Spires Anastasia & Maria were always on hand for advice or just a friendly chat they are a wonderful caring family & treat all the guests the same. Spires's famous Saturday BBQ is a must only complaint is he piles so much food on your plate you can hardly move afterwards but it is so tasty. For pre dinner drinks there is no better place than the Castelli bar where lots of guests meet & drinks are served by Mariantha who always has a smile on her face & is very friendly . Returning after dinner eaten in one of the many local restaurants the bar is a hub of activity where guests have a nightcap (or two) before going to bed.
Every morning a good breakfast is served. I know there have been a few negative comments about the breakfast but from what I saw guests piled their plates with Bread ,Cheese, Ham & cake with enough to feed an army everyday . I have visited many Greek Islands on a B&B basis & the Castelli serves the best breakfast of all of them.
I had a fabulous week & will definitely be returning. Why go anywhere else.

Room Tip: Personal choice but I prefer a room by the olive groves
