“Excellent hotel - Excellent holiday!”
Reviewed December 17, 2010

Stayed in Olympia Hotel in August 2009 - THE best holiday ever! On arrival, when our transfer was going we were very hesitant as all the hotels looked very shabby. Arrived at ours and sighed in relief! Had a beautiful swimming pool - apparently one of the best in Laganas. Rooms were plain, quite spacious though and all had balconies. Ours outlooked the pool which was good. Some of the others outlooked the back where there were chickens lol. Sam on reception was a gem! He was so lovely and looked after us all. Location wise we were a bit out the way, about a 5/10 minute walk to the strip and 15 minute walk to the beach. But could get a taxi for a couple euros at the end of the night if you didn't want to walk. Met a bunch of lads from Croydon who made our holiday - hotel banter was great. Little poolside snack bar which done breakfasts and chips and stuff - cheap too. Hotel also served drinks. Nightlife wise - Zante was spot on. As you worked your way down the strip, there were a few small bars. We loved the sports bar, and the Premier! Staff were cracking here and had such a laugh! Done a bit of dancing for the, and got free shots!! Rescues was amazing!! Seen Dave Pearce here and it was bouncing! Also liked More, Waikiki...infact everywhere was amazing!! Didnt think much of Cherry Bay but i think we went at the wrong time. Would definitely rate this hotel!!

We found a last minute deal to this hotel with thomas cook, and through reading through a lot of reviews and scareing myelf completely, i was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. our room was beautiful, shower curtain, hook, working fridge and overlooked the pool. The maids were amazing and like little fairies, apart from the first morning we never saw or heard them. They changed bins every day, even going looking for the bin if it had been left out on the balcony to change it. bedding was changed once a week, this was also stated on the chart on the week. for me, the location of the hotel was perect. it's a good 10min walk from the main part of the strip but the quality of the hotle is so much better (we walked down to have a nose around th others and wer so glad we chose this one). also, being this end of the strip it is quieter and therefore bars offer cheaper and stronger alcohol as it is not watered down which is what we found happened in the main strip. we ate out for breakfast every morning at a wee place just over the road called Niko's. the man and his wife that own the place are just lovely and go out of their way to please ya. really good food too, so make sure ya give their food a go when ya arrive. we hired a quad which was great, pretty cheap 40eur for 3 days (non-consec) and gets cheaper the more days you have). this allowed us to see beautiful beaches and places we wouldnt have seen otherwise like st nicks beach, and an off road coastal tour up a mountain. we also found alot of nice places to eat because we could get off the main strip like heaven's kitchen- amazin food and pretty cheap. on the main strip, ionian sea restaurant comes highly reccomended by us, again staff and management go out iof their way to please you and food is deliiiiiiiiccciiiiious!!! we ate there 3 out of 7 nights and wer gutted we onlty found it towards the mid/end of the hol. also if anyone goes next season, will you let me know if you see a wee black lab/mongrel dog, shen was heavily pregnant when we seen her and so friendly. she was pretty skiny and had a himogus belly, she seemed to disappear the last few days must ave gone to have her pups, i called her Bella and i would love to know she is alive and well, so if ya see her let me know! overall amaziiin hol, would def go back and would stay at the olympia. we didnt get charged for anything on leaving, noone even checked our room, just took our key. really amazin time, bring on zante 2011!!!!

This was a last minute cheap holiday with my girlfriend and we were happy with what we got for what we paid.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and check in was smooth. Room was basic but to be expected. Had a balcony over looking the pool which was great. Our room was to the front of property which is on a busy main road so it was often rather noisy. Walls were a bit dirty with stains but bathroom and beds, floors etc were clean. Maids come once in the week and done the bare minimum.
Pool area was really nice and clean although it was hard to relax with the noisy traffic.
Location was excellent. Far away enough from all the bars and clubs so you are not constantly in the middle of it all but only a 10/15minute walk away if you want it.
Our rep Theo was great and made us feel really welcome. We booked two nights out with him and they were great fun.
Laganas as a resort is ok. There are some really nice restraunts in the resort. Can't remember the names but most are on the Kalamaki road. The beach is disgusting. We got a taxi one day through to Kalamaki where the beach is much nicer. We even got to see baby turtles hatching and crawling down the beach to the sea. One of the best bits of the holiday.
I would recommend Rescue and Cherry Bay. The Pink Panther kareoke bar is also a great place.
Overall our holiday was very enjoyable. Zante is a great island.

Booked this hotel last minute as a cheap week away with my girlfriend. It's an 18-30s hotel and although I'm in my late 20's and obviously didn't want the whole 18-30's experience I thought it was worth a punt. Did a bit of research on hotels in the area and at 3 star with some good reviews the Olympia came out on top of the shortlist. On the whole I wasn't disappointed, and everything was pretty much as expected.
Check-in was quick and easy. The room was decent enough, 2 single beds pushed together, balcony with internal doors and external shutters both of which lock in place. Mirror, chair and table, bedside tables. The 2 bedside lights didn't work but the main light did, so didn't complain. Bathroom had shower rather than a bath but everything else as expected. It even had a hairdryer which was a plus. I'd been told how poorly equipped and basic many Greek hotels were, so I was pleasntly surprised with the place. No television, but there are plently of electrical points so take a radio with mains adaptor like I did for a bit of entertainment when getting ready. There was no safe available in the room as they were in reception instead. I wan't happy with this concept and didn't hire one. Security was a bit poor in that reception was left unattended with every room key on display which anyone could have taken. There were cameras but I doubt they were recording anything. That said, I never saw or heard any reports of theft.

What hits you with it being 18-30s is a long damage list on the back of your room door. I was unfamiliar with this having never done an 18-30s before but basically whereas in any normal hotel if you had a problem you'd call reception and a handyman would come and fix it, here it is simply assumed you broke it and you are billed accordingly. There was a humorous moment when I couldn't get the plug out of the sink (one of those funny continental ones where you push a rod behind the tap to relaease it) and for 10 minutes I was facing a bill of 100 euros!! Luckily I was able to poke the plug out from below which came as quite a relief.

Cleaning left a lot to be desired. The cleaner did the bare minumum and changed the bins every day but that was about it. Towels were changed only once during the week which was a bit mean, and they weren't the cleanest looking. But hey, what do you expect for an 18-30s! The pool area was nice, plenty sun loungers and a mix of music being played. Other communal areas were in a decent state of repair. Compared to most other hotels we saw there, the Olympia looked very nice.

It's at the top of the strip, the opposite end to the beach but not too far a walk to the nightlife. There are supermarkets, bars and restaurants nearby so don't let the location put you off.
The main downside, as you'd expect, is the other guests. Yes, on the whole they weren't a bad bunch and for the first few days the place was pretty quiet but follwoing some new arrivals half way through, peace was broken. They'd come home at 3 or 4am and sing/shout/scream the corridors down with obscenities and loutishness. Now of course you're thinking what do you expect in an 18-30s and fair enough it was to be expected. I'd read many other hotels had 'security' who weren't shy in shaking their cosh at horny drunk revellers but sadly the Olympia was lacking in this department. I'd like to have seen a few burly security guards keep people in check but this wasn't the case, so the idiots were free to run riot for hours at a time with the poor old guy on reception just telling them to keep it down. I guess a 24hr bar doesn't exactly help.

So, all in all, you can't have the best of both worlds - i.e. cheap hotel and respectable guests. I doubt I'd do 18-30s again but on this occasion I had a good time overall. Despite the other guests the hotel was decent enough for the money and for anyone who doesn't mind losing sleep between the hours of 3 - 5am, it comes recommended.

My friend and I booked this as a last minute 18-30's holiday and would recommend it to people who are just looking for somewhere basic to stay while they make the most of Zante's nightlife etc. Our room wasn't particularly clean and the maid only changed the sheets and towels once during our stay and didn't even sweep the floor (which was covered in hairs etc from previous guests). We may have just been unlucky as the rest of the hotel seemed alright.

The hotel is quite central and I liked the fact that it was a bit of a walk away from the clubs as you could get away from it all if you wanted. Only downside was the pool is at the front of the property, by the main road, so not as chilled as I had hoped but the pool did look a bit nicer than other one's we saw.

Our rep, Theo, was a brilliant guy who made loads of effort to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves without being too pushy. We signed up for the full weeks package but wished we had just done the silent arena and school disco as these were the best nights out. At the age of 26 I did feel slightly past it on some occasions as a lot of the 18-30 lot were younger than us so would probably book independently if was to go back there. Zante has loads of choice of bars and clubs, if we'd been out there in high season it may have had more of a buzz but it was quite quiet in September. If travelling at this time of year take an umbrella as it was rained and was stormy practically everyday!

Head to the beach for some nice bars and restaurants, best one's we found included Cubaneros, Cool Peppers, Havana, and Greek Islands restaurant for some authentic food and greek dancing!

I have just returned from a week long 18-30 Holiday staying At the 'Hotel' Olympia in Leganas. Firstly Leganas is a great resort, great nightlife, food and services however the same can't be said of 'hotel' Olympia.

The rooms are very basic but its greece so its expected but there was no cups or plates in the room, the only thing provided was a fridge which for a hotel is very poor. It was basically room only. The hotel had a snack bar place and the food from it was crap we eat there 1 day and that was enough as it was nowhere near worth the money.

The main problem however when on an 18-30 holiday is that the hotel manager says it has a no drinking in the rooms policy, however you can drink in your rooms all day as long as you buy it from their overpriced bar where they give no offers or anything. I found this completly unacceptable for an 18-30 holiday as most ppl like to chill on the balcony with a beer as the get ready for goin out but dont want to or have the money to pay between 3-5 Euro's for the privilage when you can get the same and in many cases bigger and better products in the supermarket for 1 Euro.

The manager guy even seemed offended when you bought water and juice for the room from the supermarket altho allowed you could see on his face that he thought it should be bought at his overpriced hotel bar.

I think we would return to Leganas again for a holiday but it will def be at different accomodation where there are not so strict rules on these issues.
