had a wonderful time at the Louis Zante Beach hotel, the staff were friendly, the food was good and the accommodation was nice, clean and the maid service was exceptional! the locality and quality of the beach was unbelievable! we spent our time sitting on the hotels sun loungers (extra 4 euros a day...the best money I've spent in years!) , the beautiful clear sea was lapping at our feet! we never went near the pool because the sea was so beautiful. we are going back next year with our children because the kids club was great, we normally like to change things annually, this is not the case now! was there a problem? can't think of one to be honest! if I'm being picky annoyingly small plastic glasses for the beer, but they what offset with champagne and real freshly made cocktails! forget the hotel, the Island was wonderful......10 out of 10

The fact that we went there for the fourth time says it all; the beach is perfect; even if you want to find a stone, you cannot; although in Laganas area, nothing to do with the noisy Laganas place; rooms very clean with many provisions, excellent food with so much variety all though the day; staff, starting from the Manager to the last employee, all professionals.

Room Tip: Of course the rooms which are not in the main building, but only 10 meters from the beach.

We travelled in August 2013 as a family and had a nice holiday there. The staff is very friendly and work very hard. The rooms are clean and tidy. The food is outstanding and provided nearly 24/7. The hotel is next to a very lovely beach. Sunbeds are charged for and are £4 each person for all day. The beach is closed from 8 pm until 7 am to protect the lovely turtles which lay their eggs in the sandy beach. We managed to see 1 baby turtle at a morning walk after 7 am.
The only thing which we did not like is that it is a hotel has no restrictions for smokers. There is no devided section for smokers and non-smokers in the restaurant. So, if you are unlucky you will have a smoker blowing the smoke in your face while you eat breakfast.
Apart from that there was nothing to complain about and we definately recommed this hotel and would come back for another holiday.

Room Tip: Nearly all rooms are faced to the beach. Of course the front rooms have the best view, but I believe...

So, having tasted the 'all inclusive' holiday for the first time last year in Turkey, decided to repeat again this year but instead going to Greece. After a little research, opted for the Louis Zante Beach Hotel, Laganas for our family holiday. Now, to all you Greek experts, you will be shouting 'Nooooooooooooooo, Laganas, for a family holiday, its a clubbing resort!'. Well I was assured that the hotel was far enough away from the strip not to be of concern so I took a chance.

This year opted for later flights, ie 2.30 pm at Gatwick and 9.15 pm from Zante on a Sunday. We also paid extra for the airport lounge. Was planning to check in the bags the night before as per last year as didn't fancy standing in a check out queue with a 9 year old for an hour or more. However, appears Thomson only allow day before bag check in for flights departing before noon the following day. Checked with a friend who works at the airport about likely crowds on a Sunday afternoon and he said it would be busy so get there early and make sure you check in on-line first. With that advice in mind, I hit the keyboard only to find that Thomson seem to have been promising the imminent arrival of on-line check in for some time, but not quite there yet. Braced for a teeming north terminal, we entered only to find the place deserted. We snaked our way along the pointless queuing system straight to the front to be served by the next available desk.
Unspectacular flight although I foolishly paid extra to select my seats only to find we were nowhere near where I had chosen!! Complaint to First Choice to follow.
Presumably due to the size of the island, on arrival the airport wasn’t busy and pretty much sailed through passport control and baggage reclaim. First choice got us on the buses and 15 minutes later we were deposited at our hotel at about 8.30ish.
First impressions were the entrance and driveway which creates a feel of style over and above being dropped off at the side of the road! Reception had four staff checking new arrivals with just a brief form to complete. They didn’t take our passports as we were advised they would. Must be my trustworthy face. We had a quick look at the accommodation and then on to dinner during which time the hotel deposited our luggage in the room.

The Room
Well it was a bit small. Not enough room to swing a cat but then we weren’t spending too much time there anyway. En-suite with bath/shower and large sink and vanity area. The twin beds pushed together were on the firm side and the pull-out for our nine year old was even harder!! Only one pillow supplied per person but that was remedied next day. The maid service could not be faulted as the beds were made every day and bed clothes laid out on top. Reasonable amount of storage space, nice sized balcony. Ours was overlooking the front which was in fact a view of woodlands so no complaints, especially as I wasn’t too concerned with paying an additional £200 odd for a seaview for a room we would only sleep in! What does irk me is the safety deposit box in the room. When you pay a reasonable amount for a room I don’t really expect to have to pay another £100 to secure my belongings! So I didn’t. Relied on keeping everything locked in the cases. After all, what would be more suspicious than someone taking a suitcase out of a hotel!!!!!
The Restaurant.
This comprised of an indoor section which was air conditioned and a terraced section which was obviously not. The signs said that to enter the restaurant gentlemen should wear long trousers although this was patently not adhered to. If it had, I would have gone hungry for the whole holiday as I only brought shorts with me! The selection was generous and the food delicious. Each night was a different theme including Greek (not surprisingly), Middle Eastern, Asian etc. Plenty of salads and marvellous display of deserts and fruits. The melon was always perfectly tender and divine. There was show cooking on the outside terrace every evening. No problems with the food and certainly no stomach upsets. What was nice was that you could serve your own drinks. What wasn’t so good was the wine. Luckily I stuck to beer and soft drinks with meals, especially having wine on the first night!!!
The Pool
Have to say the pool was ok. Nice temperature but maybe just a little too shallow in the deep end, ie only 1.55m deep. The usual ‘No Diving’ signs although these were ignored. At times it was moderately busy but generally there was space to do your own thing. I note some would advocate an adults only pool but to be honest, if there was, I would still be jumping on lilos in that one as well!!! There are a lot of loungers on the hotel grounds but probably not quite enough. We were told there were plenty and not to reserve them but having missed out the first couple of day I made the 7am effort to get the towels out first. Someone somewhere must come up with an idea to prevent this. Perhaps number the loungers and allocate them on arrival. They were only two rows deep next to the pool so you were never far away. They also have other loungers between the pool and beach where it is sandy and grassy.
The pool has a lifeguard on duty all day which is reassuring for families. There was also a kiddies pool but I can’t comment on it as we didn’t use it.
The poolside bar was always friendly however my biggest gripe of the holiday must be the size of the plastic re-usable cups they use for poolside drinks. Once they have put in their two cubes of ice, I would estimate they only hold about a quarter of pint (no ice with the beer I hasten to add but even without it, it is still a lot less than half a pint!). You either have to collect several drinks for yourself in one go or just make frequent visits! However, the empties are regularly collected and the pool area is kept tidy.
Entertainment
The animation team were very good as they did everything. Water gym for (mainly) the ladies, killer darts, French boule, volleyball, football, table tennis and pilates. They also did games for the kids but I can’t comment as we didn’t utilise the kids club. They also did a different game each afternoon which could include using reflexes to catch a stick ( I was robbed of victory in that one), using a water plunger to fill a cup about 8ft away and other, not to taxing, fun party type games. The only query would be that the only prizes were a free bingo card for the evening. Still, it was taking part that counted. The animation team also did the evening shows which included dance, fire show, comedy and the usual holiday Mr and Mrs competitions. When they got the chance to practice heaven knows as they seemed to be on duty 25 hours every day!!!!
For the kids there is a wonderful climbing frame in the shape of a galleon complete with rigging which, thankfully, is out of reach of tiny hands so you little one won’t be able to get up to the crows nest!
Turtles
If you are going to this hotel or any in Lagana or Kalamaki, be aware that the beaches are closed between 9pm and 7am during the nesting season (May to Sept) and even when open, you must stay within 5 metres of the sea. Not too much of a problem as there are no tides!! Others reviewers have mentioned the charity workers and if you get up at 7 you can follow them along and maybe see some turtles shuffling down to the sea for the first time. I missed them! The beach itself is only about 20yrds from the pool but be aware, sun loungers on the beach are nothing to do with the hotel and you will be charged.
Excursions.
We did the Turtle Island cruise which is a trip to go around an island shaped like a turtle but, if you are lucky you do get to see a turtle in the sea. As others said, some of the boats surround the turtles far too close. The trip we were on was with First Choice and included reps from the turtle charity so they take photos of any boats that get too close and the skippers should be fined. The TUI staff came across as very knowledgable (well done Trevor and Anna). The best thing on this trip was swimming in the sea off the boat and into caves.
We also went to Olympia, birthplace of the Olympics and Joanna, the Greek guide at the museum and archaeological site was excellent. Fascinating to hear the history of the games and get a chance to run on the original track.
On the penultimate day, we went to the water village with various slides. There are only about 12 main slides and it was a bit tatty. The plughole was good but the park pales in comparison to Aqualand in Corfu. There are no slides with a sheer drop and it is on a much smaller site. However, not too bad for an island the size of Zante. In the evening we got the coach to Zakynthos town for the festival of St Dennis. Not entirely sure why he is a saint but nevertheless the locals have deemed it necessary to preserve his remains for the last 400 odd years. On the 24th August each year he is removed from his church and paraded around town. He gets, for some reason, a new pair of slippers each year. The place is packed and if you are there at that time next year, you would do well to find out the route of the parade. We had what we thought was an ideal position only to see the bands in the parade promptly turn around and march away from us. What was good was to be on a boat in the harbour to watch the spectacular firework display. Unfortunately, the captain of our vessel had to take evasive action as a ferry came into port during the proceedings (no danger but plenty of manoeuvring around which was unfortunate when you thought you were on the correct side of the boat only for the view to change).
General
The two reps, George and Louise, were probably just about what you want. Not in your face flogging excursions but honest and helpful. We did buy excursions from them and they were friendly and not over the top. They told us the prices at the airport snack bar were pricey but I didn’t heed that. I bought a bag of crisps, (150g), a small packet of mini Oreos, a bottle of diet coke and a large beer (which was probably somewhere between a half and a pint). Over €15!!!!

Another gripe is that when advertising a hotel with satellite tv, is there any chance it can be more than BBC World and Sky News. Last thing at night it’s quite nice just to unwind for half an hour but not with the news!!!! I’m not expecting 200 English speaking channels but maybe BBC1 at the least!

The location is quiet but you are only 20 minutes walk away from the party town of Laganas. My only cause to go there was to see England beat the Scots, and how nice was that?

On the whole, a very enjoyable holiday and certainly one of the places you put on your list to go back to.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your All Inclusive experience which offered a great selection of dishes through a different themed night each evening and a great variation of beverages. Moreover, we are thrilled to hear that you found the daytime activities and the evening shows of our talented animation team very much to your liking and that you were pleased with the reassuring presence of our lifeguard. We are sorry to hear that you found our mattresses too hard, we only wish you had informed us of this concern during your stay as we could have supplied you with one of our mattress covers which provide for optimal sleeping comfort. Additionally, we would like to thank you for your valuable suggestion in regards to our sunbeds, the size of our drinking glasses and the number of television channels which we all duly note for future improvements and will further follow-up on. All in all, despite some small negatives, we are glad to hear that you had an enjoyable holiday at our quiet location.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Louis Zante Beach.

We have just returned from Zante Beach Hotel for the second year, and we where not disappointed. Before arrival I emailed to confirm our room and asked if we could stay in the same room as last year, we stayed in room 458 on the beach front. These rooms are now an extra charge so we had to upgrade but we did end up with the same room which was great and well worth it. The food is of great quality and all you can eat throughout the day. I think they need to do more of a selection for the kids as my son ended up eating spaghetti and cheese for 10 days but he is a fussy eater.

We hired a speed boat for 5 hours (150 euros) to go to turtle beach, you can moor up on the beach and explore which was great.

We did go into the pool area much as we found this to be quite a confined space, too many sunbeds and not enough pool. The beach was great though and the water is lovely and warm. My husband swam with a turtle on the first day.

The room is all you could need. But the beds are a bit hard, we asked for extra blankets which i but under the sheets to soften the bed.

Safe cost 3.50 euros per day, Towel hire is 10 euros which you get back at the end of you holiday.

I do think as you have paid a lot of money stay in the hotel that wifi should be free. You buy cards from reception we got through a lot of 90 min cards at 5 euros each.

All the staff where really friendly and very attentive with drinks in the evening.

the entertainment staff where good in during the day, but in the evening it was all a bit cringe worthy. Last years was better as they could sing.

All in all we love this hotel but do not think we will be returning due to the price being so high, which is unfortunate.

Room Tip: rooms in the 400 are better but not come at a cost. although we had some friends stay in the hotel...

My first time in Zakynthos travelled with a 12 year old and disabled person. The hotel was so lovely. The staff just could not do enough. They genuinely cared about us.
Location-- 5 mins walk to beach which was very clean. Only thing was 4 euro charge for sun bed. Big gardens for walks. Pirate ship playground too.

Rooms-- ours was 246 in the main building. Very clean with 2 beds and a bunk bed. Bathroom was small but still perfect for our stay. All we did was sleep in the room otherwise we were outside most of the day. Only news channels in English. Tea coffee facilities and hairdryer were available. The balcony was big with beautiful sea view. Clear view of Turtle Island. A/c was fine. Electricity comes on with magnet on the key to the hotel room door.

Food-- fantastic range from meats and fish to vegetables and fruit and fantastic range of desserts. All inclusive is great as food is available throughout the day. Show cooking is there for all main meals. Breakfast will obviously be the same except for a few changes like hash browns and pancakes. Unlimited ice cream and drinks all day (all inc). We didn't have anything alcoholic. The pineapple and peach juices were the best. My mother could not come down for a few meals so the staff allowed me to take food up in a tray without any problems.

Facilities-- small gym and games room. 3 bars (1 open all day). 1 pool as beach is so close. Don't take any inflatables as animation team provides a limited range after 10am. Massage chairs. Internet 1 euro for 15 mins.

Staff--- reception staff are awesome. You ask a question and all of them try to get an answer. I ordered a packed lunch for a trip and the made special sandwiches for us. I called the desk several times for certain things and they responded so quickly. Animation team were lively not pushy. The evening shows and bingo were fun. Everything stopped by 11.30pm ( not the bar!).

I would love to go back. The people made our holiday extra special. We have travelled most of Europe but never met such friendly and efficient people.

Room Tip: Any probs with the room or anything else, just ask for it to be sorted. They will asap.

We had a very relaxing time at the Louis Zante Beach Hotel. Very good location away from the noisy night life (turn right 10mins on the beach) but near some good supermarket shops, 3mins up an alley, for your souvenirs and if you like a quiet stroll turn the other direction (left) and you have a clear beach with a few sun bed areas. Going out early in the morning, 7am, you might be lucky and see turtles, if they are in the water watch out for their tell-tail head breaking the surface. We saw several hatchlings going down to the water and were lucky to see a very rare loan Albino one. Tip - we also noticed the boats that you pay to see turtles congregate when they have spotted one, if you are quick get a pedalo for 15euro and peddle like mad to the location, we did and saw a few. We also hired a power boat to see Turtle island which we did for 40euros for the hour and 70 for two hours. About the workings of the Hotel – Food was really good with a wide selection from traditional cuisine to international. I like the chefs who show cook their food, this was really good even at breakfast with their eggs, omelettes, pancakes and waffles. Some people complained that their food was cold, but there is a microwave in the corner if you want, mine was hot enough. There is an Asian restaurant which you have to book the day before, we did and enjoyed the food and wine, one free visit was included on our all inclusive stay. For lunch the beach bar/restaurant was very good with bbq chicken and pork, the chefs hand made pizzas are a must! Drinks all round were good and the staff quick and eager to serve. Entertainment was okay and the staff very good during the day with various activities. The Hotel was clean with the maids making our room up everyday albeit a bit late 4.00pm! The only downsides we had was Wasps. They are everywhere! The grassed/beach area with sun beds, the pool, and if like me you like to eat alfresco around the restaurants. There was no escaping them, there needs to be a few ‘zapper’ bug killer machines to be installed! I noticed we didn’t have hot water for our shower in the mornings this didn’t bother me as I like an early morning swim in the sea. This could be down to overuse in the evenings, the solar power not getting enough light early on or it could be a more serious problem. My room number was 863 We also had a problem with the number of inflatables in the pool. The regulation of not to use them is ignored by adults as well as children, yes have fun but when you get knocked every time you want a dip or when somebody chucks one in and tries to leap on it then it becomes a real headache for ordinary pool users. On the whole we loved our stay and would recommend the hotel which is well run by Makis Christofis to our friends and relatives.

Room Tip: Book a Sea view if you can afford the extra cost.
