Stayed for 2 weeks recently at the Santellini and have nothing but praise for the place. Owners are charming, the hotel is kept unbelievably clean and location is perfect. It is an oasis of quiet in a relatively busy resort (nice busy). The biggest endorsement is the number of guests who return year after year. Kamari is lovely, no hassle - plenty of things to do and Santorini as a whole is beautiful. The nicest Greek Island we've visited. We definitely plan to return.

just back from a week in kamari at the santellini hotel, its a clean, quiet hotel, martha and her family make you so welcome, the pool was busy but we went to the beach every day, and about 5 we would wander back and always found the pool empty so we would spend an hour cooling down in it (it was 40degrees in the shade),after we would sit out on our good sized terrace with a beer from the fridge while the free air con cooled the room, you have to rent the safe but its only 10 euros for the week, i would highly recommend this little oasis amongst the shops,we never heard a sound and slept really well, breakfast was magic we loved the yogurt with a large dose of local honey sprinkled on it and fresh fruit, the sea is 2 minutes away as are the tavernas and bars, prices are a bit higher than england but no lager louts or banging night clubs anywhere just sensible people enjoying the sun, go there, you wont regret it.

We stayed in Hotel Santellini in July 2010. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. The owners are very friendly and will go out of their way to please everyone. The breakfast was very enjoyable and there was a varied selection, from cereals to yoghurt and honey, homemade preserves, jams, choice of breads, meats, cheeses, olives, tomatoes, cucumber, juices, fresh melon, tinned mixed fruit and hard boiled eggs. There is also a toaster and various teas and coffee. Surely a feast to please every taste!!

The location is fantastic, just around the corner from the beach and various restaurants. There are boat trips to Perissa and Red beach which is a must. Also a trip up a very high windy mountain to Ancient Thira is also a must (unless you are scared of heights).

We agree with other reviewers that you do not need to hire a car as the bus stop is just around the corner. We did the the island trip with Thompson's and this was fantastic. Thira is amazing and so is Oia, we went twice to each. The sunsets and views are fantastic so take a good camera.

Our favourite restaurant was The Family Restaurant and for day time snacks Splash, our first day time snack was in Yammas and this was great.

The Loveboat is the place to go for lively, and free drinks!! this is where you will find all the reps til closing!!!

There is also an outdoor cinema just a short walk from the hotel and this is well worth a visit (a truly wonderful atmosphere with a bar serving drinks including cocktails and tables next to your seats) showing films in english with greek subtitles . We saw Kings of Mykonos which was a great laugh and very appropriate.

The only down side was the bed was a bit too hard for our liking, there was not a regular person at the bar you had to go to reception to let them know that you wanted a drink or help yourself to the fridge and pay at reception (not moaning too much as the reception is very near) and the choice of snacks at the bar was limited.

We fell in love with Santorini and will definately be back xxxxx

Although i have used trip advisor reviews many times in the past, i have never before left a review myself. Having recently returned from this hotel with my wife though, i feel the very least i should do is break my duck. It is wonderful. With so many restaurants (probably 50+) right on its doorstep, it only needs to supply a bed and breakfast service. This service though is lovingly and proudly put on by the owner and her family in the spotless restaurant and at tables by the pool. Everywhere in the hotel and its grounds is kept absolutely immaculate, and the simple rooms are very well looked after. Very refreshing also to have a fridge included for your OWN use and not to sell you overpriced minibar drinks. The location of the hotel is ideal, right in the middle of Kamari, only yards from the beach and all the restaurants, shops and bus stops. Yet set foot inside and you would never know any of it was there, at night we did not here a thing and sleeping was easy. The stunning scenery of Santorini was matched only by the friendliness of the staff of this wonderful hotel and a return there is a foregone conclusion. Cant wait.

Stayed at the Santellini for 2 weeks in early July. It's a family owned and run hotel and most efficiently run and cared for. It's spotlessly clean everywhere including an immaculate pool and pool area. The bedrooms are also immaculate. The family are most gracious and welcoming to guests and have a friendly word for each person. The hotel is small so this is possible, as a result there are many return guests who feel at home here.

We had a few issues which are probably personal to us but I'll mention them anyway. Th first was that the bed was very hard, we had twin beds put together and we did find it impossible to get comfortable in them. The owners kindly got us some mattress toppers which did help a little but unfortunately my OH work up with quite bad back ache each morning. It did wear off by mid morning but he got very tired from not sleeping well.
It was quite hot when we were there and the air con is not adjustable in the rooms so we found it a bit hard to settle for that reason also. However that would not be an issue when not visiting in mid-summer.

We were also short of sun loungers as there are 19 in total but 20+ rooms and people were reserving them very early in the morning or the night before. There were a couple of largish family groups there who were reserving them for each other first thing. They are also very close together and there is no room to manouvre them especially as the sun moves overhead and you need some shade. You can hear what everyone is saying as you are all right next to each other around the top end of the pool. You can of course use the beach which is very close and actually much cooler but you do have to pay for sun loungers.
Each room has a fridge which is really handy and rails on the balcony to hang costumes etc to dry. No excuse for towels hanging on the balconies. There is a safe for an additional fee but you can't leave it open for more that a few minutes or you need to reset it. The air con works well and the filters were all removed and cleaned while we were there - not something you see in most hotels, they are usually hardly ever cleaned.

The location couldn't be better, just off the main promenade with all the shops, restaurants and the beach.

The breakfasts are nice in that there is Greek yogurt and honey but I would have liked some fresh fruit which is readily available in the summer or alternatively some dried fruit.
There was water melon or tinned fruit salad some mornings with some cereal and bread. There was also hard boiled eggs and some cold meat and tomato and feta cheese, Greek yogurt and honey with some homemade marmalade also made by a family member. I don't eat the eggs or cold meat or the cereal so was struggling a little bit but I was provided with fruit salad each morning as an alternative, I think most people are quite happy with the breakfasts however.

There is a small bar which is open until 11pm approximately but only used by a few people most of the time.

All in all a very well run and pleasant place but we struggled with the beds and the small pool area and lack of sunbeds, apart from that it's a great place.

Just returned from our first trip to Santorini and stayed at the wonderful Santellini hotel.
The owners could not do enough for you very friendly and helpful. The hotel was in an excellent position for all bars, restaurants, bus and supermarket. The towels and bedding where changed every other day and the girls who did the cleaning did an excellent job cleaned all rooms and all areas every day even the legs on the sunbeds which I have never seen done before. The breakfast had plenty of choice as stated in other reviews. We never had a bad meal out our favourite restaurants were Alexanders, LoLos and Hi Kati Allo which is next door to the Kiwi chinese restaurant.the choice is vast and will have to go back so we can try some more couldnt do them all in 2 weeks. The bus to Thira is a must and also Oia it is only 1.40 per journey no need to hire a car you can get anywhere on the bus from Thira. Went up to Ancient Thira on the mini bus which cost 10 euro but it was worth it wouldnt have liked the walk up that hill in the heat. .
