We arrived at the Santorini airport in the late afternoon. I needed to use the toilets there and had to put up with a dirty non working toilet. The other person that was in the same need made a comment: 'Welcome to Greece.' My expectations of having a nice nine day holiday in the Greek Island reached the lowest point. This feeling was made worse with the hired taxi driver. He told us that the fare from the airport to the hotel would be about 10 to 15 Euros max. Upon our arrival at the hotel which was no more than 10 km away I gave him a 20 Euro note, expecting some change. He promptly took the cash and without making any attempt to give us a change he said that he will keep the 5 Euro change for himself. As we were still in shock with his behavior we let it go by and thought the worse was to come.
Thank God this did not happen.
The hotel was booked for us by our travel agent back in Perth, Western Australia. The outside of the hotel which was two to three stores high was clean, tidy and spacious. We were greeted warmly by one of the 4 sisters, who run the place. She showed us around and led us to our room which was situated in the basement area of the hotel. So we had to somehow carry our heavy suitcases over the two lots of stairs. ( When we were leaving the place it was even more difficult). The room was large by European standards, with a small side verandah looking into the next door backyard and at the end it had a nice view of the swimming pool area and above the fence, nice view of the sea. We had a nice wash, toilet and shower facility. A curtain that was loosely attached to the wall came down at one stage but it was fixed in no time. The air con was working nicely and as I had difficulty with the controller, the staff came to my rescue on several occasions to show me the controls. The dining room was neat, spacious, and through the open door we had a nice view of the sea. Breakfast was a standard issue: breads, cereals, cheese, yoghurt (very nice),ham, jams, coffee and tea. The fourth sister we did not get to meet as she was on maternity leave. The staff, even the cleaners were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool area was mostly empty and quiet-providing us with a nice respite from the afternoon heat, our travels and sight seeings. The sisters were very helpful with advice on what to see and do in the area and also in Tira and how to get there. It is a very quiet place, which suited us down to the tee.The hotel is situated about 200 meters from the beach and the restaurant area. The first larger restaurant we came to once we walked around the corner towards the sea, on the left hand side of the road, we found the best. It had good atmosphere, nice background bouzouki music (not very loud) and it server a wide variety of dishes. Amongst them they had typical local dishes from which we really enjoyed the local rabbit dish, cooked in clay pots in the oven and also the Moussaka dish. Will recommend the place to anyone visiting the area.

Room Tip: From what we could gather, the higher rooms facing the sea would be the best ones. There would be no...

Artemis hotel is very nice and cozy. It is very close to the beach and all the bars/restaurants/cafe in Kamari. What i like about it the most is that it has a nice pool where you can relax & unwind with a very peaceful atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and accommodating, they even helped me in arranging the sightseeing tours around Santorini. The rooms are clean and with a nice balcony, and the room I got has a nice garden view. The breakfast area has a nice cozy feel and they serve a good breakfast as well. I highly recommend this hotel and will again stay here on my next visit to Santorini.

it is a very small hotel very close to everything in Kamaris. Very clean place and nice pool. I wont go back because I want to stay in Fira next time I go to Santorini. I felt in love with the hotels in fira since they overlook the gorgeous blue ocean. There is a nice restaurant near this hotel where I had the best food in Greece. Turn to your left in the first corner when u get out of the hotel and walk like 3 minutes and it is the first restaurant that you'll see in your right.

Unfortunately, this was the worst hotel I stayed at during a six week trip of Europe. The original room we were given was clean, spacious for Europe and had a decent balcony, but had a terrible smell that we believe was coming from the drain. After being shown the other available room (which was considerably smaller and had a shared balcony), we decided to stay in the original room and try and pour water down the drain to get rid of the smell - it didn't. The next day I requested to change rooms to a new room that had come available and although the request was granted, we were made to feel like we did something wrong. Staff denied the smell asking us constantly to describe and locate it (we did - the drain), yelled in Greek and made an absolute scene about changing rooms. Very unprofessional. The breakfast was average (including mixing multiple cereals in the same dispenser) and we ate elsewhere more than once.

It was a disappointing experience given the physical hotel is impressive, including a substantial outdoor area with a large pool. Look elsewhere.

I would highly recommend this hotel and can confirm that all comments on friendly service is 100% true. The travel company had booked us into the wrong hotel (Artemis, Perissa) and on our first night we were having to sort it out with a very unhelpful travel company. The hotel let us use their phones, were really helpful and even gave us a glass of wine each saying it was our holiday and it wasn't right that we were having the arguments. The hotel is basic like all Greek hotels, but it is very clean, lovely heated pool, very pretty grounds, nice powerful showers, wonderful views of the sea, aircon in rooms and really friendly owners. It's a 3 minute walk to the beach and bars so nice and quite. I would definately go back to the Artemis - 100%!

Room Tip: Choose rooms overlooking the pool as you can see the sea if you're on the first level.

Really enjoyed this hotel. Location was superb, quiet but very accessible to Kamari beach( 5-7 minute walk), to buses (to Fira), and in the midst of lots of great restaurants and shopping!!

Staff was friendly...go Eleni and Kostas!!! Rooms were clean , breakfast pretty good.
Would definitely stay here again!!!
