We booked through tour operator Thomson 2-3 weeks before flying there for my nephew's wedding. The hotel is tucked away behind the beach at the far end; its is, therefore, quiet and well located for those who want to have some peace. There is a children's pool which in the day is busy, but also an excellent new pool with jacuzzi etc. with some attractive maisonettes owned by the hotel.
We started on the wrong foot as the twin we'd asked for was a very small pokey double. They upgraded us to one of the maisonettes - very swish - for one night, then the rest of the week was in a large triple. Everything very, very clean and well maintained. All staff courteous and friendly. Breakfast coffee and tea poor, bur otherwise okay.
Of the hotels we saw and went into in Kamari it was the best.

  • Liked — The friendliness of other tourists and the staff
  • Disliked — coffee at breakfast

Having visited Santorini before as a boat traveller, I now went for the first time with my husband and children to Kamari and the Aegean Plaza. We came back home 4 days ago and we now remember : a lovely and clean pool area, nice staff, a perfect one - room - apartment for 2 adults and 2 children (6 and 8 years) with a fridge and cooking possibilities on the ground floor, except for the perfect weather of course.

A little piece of advice from us: Realease the key from the blingbling and leave it in the wall pocket so the AC could work during the day while you are out. Then it´s possible to sleep without the AC on ... at least on the ground floor. Our daughter´s terrible caughing almost disappeared after doing so. (Maybe it´s not OK for other reasons but anyway...it´s your choice)

Worth seeing: Took the bus to Oia (Ia) and watched the red sun set while having an extraordinary dinner on one of the restaurant terraces. Then we actually had to run back to the bus which would take us on the wonderful winding road back to the hotel where they were holding a Greek Night with music and performance. Our children and our newly won Swedish friends were waiting for us and all our children danced until they closed down around midnight - another great experience for the families and - the children!

So with all this, and more, in mind we are already longing for a return trip back to Greece, Kamari and the Aegean Plaza! Some people warned us about the fact that Santorini is not a place for young children but we are so happy despiting these warnings and in fact we are all very pleased with everything, leaving the word "expensive" behind this time.

We found it worth it and the children are huge Greek fans now!

Went to Santorini in June to get married. Us and 28 of our wedding party stayed at the Aegean Plaza and it was fab!!
Rooms are spacious and cleaned every day. Fresh linen and towels on a daily basis. All rooms have a lovely pool view. Plenty of sunbeds and AP has 2 other hotels joined that also have pools that are alot quieter than the main pool that you can use.
Breakfast is not as bad as people make out. Food is fresh and there is plenty of it!! It is true what they say about wedding parties though, because you go in large groups you do tend to take over but hey, you are there for a celebration and on holiday so to all the rest GET A LIFE AND STOP MOANING!!!
Pool bar is VERY reasonable. Layla never stops smiling and works SOOO hard!! George is a star, his cocktails are the best and he is too!!
As for Santorini, it is very beautiful. There is not much to do there and we didn't find the food too appealling but it is lovely.
Got married at the Winery and couldn't have hoped for a better day. Visit Annas Bar, Benni and his brother are the best. The sunset cruise is nice and the views from Oia are to die for!! Will def go back to the AP in the future!!

  • Liked — Fab location
  • Disliked — The foreigners who constantly moaned and took advantage of the bar staff

Have just returned from a week at the Aegean Plaza and have already started checking out deals to go back.

We booked this hotel well in advance having been to Kamari the previous September when we stayed at the hideous Atalos Villas (concrete bed, pool full of leaves and proprietor who only grunted at us for whole week).
Anyway, we had been for a walk round the Aegean Plaza on previous visit and liked the look of pool and communal areas so booked it.

On arrival we were given a ground floor room which unless you have small children or mobility issues I would avoid. It had only the one door which lead out on to pool area, no window even in bathrom so felt rather claustrophobic. We had also asked for a double and this was twin so we asked to be moved. Unable to accomodate our request that night (it was 10pm), Maro on reception was good as her word and moved us 1st thing next morning to a lovely spacious 2nd floor room with pool view. We would have settled for the other room and it was very clean but the 2nd floor was so much nicer.
Both rooms we were in had a fridge so this must be standard so you can get a few beers and bottles of water in to enjoy on your balcony (cuts the cost too).

Breakfast was the usual fayre for european hotels and although the selection didn't vary each day we enjoyed it and particularly liked being able to sit out on the terrace.
We ate twice at the pool bar and this was excellent so would definitely give the evening meals or greek night a go next time. Bar staff very friendly too, particularly Laila who never stopped smiling despite working such long shifts.

Hotel is well located for beach, couple of minutes stroll but far enough away to avoid any excess noise. Several mini-markets close by but thought the choice at the one directly over road was very limited so tended to walk a bit further for better choice of snacks and drinks.

Had a hire car but organised this via internet before we left UK. Would recommend Motor Inn though, was excellent service and we had no problems.
There is a bus service to Oia from the hotel but it seemed pricey so you are better to walk into town ang get bus from there.

As for Kamari itself we would recommend Syrtaki restaurant where Dimitris will ensure you have a great meal and several complimentary metaxas! Although all the places we ate were good, this was by far our favourite, I'd recommend the grilled squid to any fish lover, it was delicious!

As for bars we tended to frequent Love Boat as we had got to know the staff there a little bit last year. Staff at Loveboat very friendly and eager to please (by plying you with cocktails!). Beware of the flaming sambuccas though!!

All in all we had a wonderful trip and will definitely be going back, I can't fault anything on this island so far and I'm looking forward to getting to know it better.

Me and my boyfriend returned from the agean plaza 3 weeks ago.The hotel was very clean, bedding and towels were changed daily. We only had breakfast but this was ok,what else do you expect when your use to having a great british fry up.There was a good selection of continental e.g creal, fruit, yoghurt, toast and jams, and of course bacon egg beans and sausage, although the beans were served luke warm.

The pool area was very clean, there is also a smaller pool that is very quiet and more ideal for couples wanting to relax. There are some fantastic restuarant along the beach, although some are quite expensive, but worth it.Theres a great bar called the love boat, this is open until about 5 in the morning, cocktails are about 5 euro.

I would advise you to hire a car,we hired 1 for 2days and managed to go round the hole island.Oia is definatly worth a visit, the sunset is amazing,it is a very expensive place to eat though!

The overall holiday was excellent, best holiday ive had,we went for 2 weeks as we were attending a wedding. Will definatly be returning to the same hotel without a doubt!!!

Before booking this hotel for my family I read all the reviews about this hotel on Trip advisor. There were some negative and positive comments but decided to book the hotel.

We ( meaning my wife and 5 yr old daughter) stayed here for a weeks stay from 27th May - 3rd June on a bed and breakfast basis in a double room. We came to Santorini for a family holiday which also incorperated my brothers wedding here.

The Hotel.

First impressions are very good. We were met at the hotel by the friendly staff and taken to our room which was room 307 on the third floor over looking the pool. The hotel was very clean and the two pools were beautiful. See pictures.

The room.

As stated the room was on the third floor which is quite high up. The room consisted of one large room with a separte bathroom. The room was clean and had a TV hairdryer AC and a large fridge!!. This was brill for stocking up with your own juices and beer!! There was a large double bed and a single bed for our daughter. There was a lovely balcony which overlooked the pool. see picture. (CAUTION NOTE). We went with friends who had children of the ages of 10 months and 2 1/2 yrs. If you intend to stay here with children between these ages request a ground floor room. My friends had big problems lugging pushchairs up the steps as there are no lifts and eventually requested a room change. Also on a safety note the balconies even though very safe for adults do pose an obvious risk to children. Also the balconies leading into your room are very low and are also a risk.
The room was cleaned every day between the times of 9:30 and 10:30 where towels are changed everyday so don't take any!!. Note the AC is V good but will not work if the balcony door is open!!!. Overall the room for my family and I was fine.

CAUTION NOTE.

Next to this hotel there is a large building site under construction. This looks like an extension to the hotel This site backed onto our side of the hotel. Throughout the week there was hardly any activity on the site but on departing there was a quite a bit. So there may or may not be some buiding noise??.

Breakfast.

This to me was fine. I'm not a big breakfast eater but the coffee and orange juice was v poor(very picky but I love a good coffee in the morning). There was a good selection of food and is of OK standard. We took our own orange juice to the table.

Pool/bar.

The two pools are excellent and we had a great time. There were loads of sunbeds and contrary to other reviews there were no towels on the beds until 9ish!!!!!!! amazing!!. The bar was good but pricey 10 euros for 2 beers and an orange juice!!. What we did was as follows. During the day visit the two supermarkets across from the hotel and stock up with beer and juices. The supermarkets are great and a large can of beer is only 1.10 euros and a litre carton of pure orange juice is 2 euros. It saves you loads. Everyone was doing it and I don't blame them.

Food.

We didn't eat at the hotel at all. But I asked friends of our also staying and they said it was fine. I also looked at the comments book in the hotel. There were some comments stating the food SUCKED!!. In Kamari you are spolied for choice for restaurants and will be loads cheaper. On a quick note the bar prices in the resort aren't cheap two large beers and a FRESH orange juice will set you back 12 euros. The orange juice alone is 5 euros!!!!. The supermarkets are great value use them.

Overall the hotel was fine and we had a great time. My brothers wedding was BRILL. I am very quick to complain if something is not right but on this occasion everything was great.

Would I stay again yes I would.

NOTE.

The beach is great but take appropiate footwear. It is so hard on your feet and will hurt like hell if you don't, it also gets very hot. Also entry into the sea is very hard you will find out. Again very painfull. Use footwear you can use in the sea as it remains very rocky there is no sand what so ever.

One last note regarding planes flying over the hotel/beach as mentioned in other reviews. I found this very exiting as did my daughter. There are around 6-10 incoming flights a day from 9 in the morning until 10 at night. There arn't many at all but as they are landing they are suprisingly quiet.

Have a lovely holiday. Santorini is lovely. Fira and Oia are a must 10 Euros by taxi to Fira and 20 to Oia, the sunsets are magical. Hope this review helps you decide where to stay. If you want to know more drop us a e mail.

TAKE LOADS OF SUNTAN LOTION ITS WONDERFULLY HOT!!.
