“Good hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

Hotel only 2 miles from the airport so dont bother booking a transfer just get a taxi for 15 eur one way. Hotel grounds pools etc all look a good 4* standard but the rooms were a slight bit of a letdown. I felt they could be slightly modernised as they are only a 3* standard especially for the price thay some people have paid to stay there. Food and drink at the poolside is good and the staff are excellent and helpfull. Wifi is extremely slow though! Liked the hotel but wouldnt return back as you can get a lot more for your money at other islands but you are paying for the privaledge of going to santorini. We only paid 600 each with easyjet holidays for 1 week but heard others say they paid 800-900! Kamari side isnt the nicest by all means but oia and fira are a must see!

We were honoured to be invited to a wedding in Santorini, the news given last year led to much anticipation of where to stay - should we stay in a separate hotel from the wedding party or join them. After much debate we opted to join them at the Aegean Plaza.

What a delightful hotel, the room was spacious and overlooked the pool. The furniture was basic but gave adequate storage. There were 3 pools to chose from and the main pool had a bar. The breakfast was hearty with choices and the Greek yoghurt and honey was delicious.
The staff were friendly - though the reception people were not as helpful and communicative as the bar staff. The room was cleaned daily and the towels changed, pool towels were also provided and there was a general relaxed and comfortable feel. Couples, families and friends all seemed to be catered for.

The location of the hotel was great and it was an easy stroll to the front for many taverna's and shops.

We only stayed for 5 days as we were on a tight time schedule however will return to Snatorini and potentially the same hotel.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor - 321 - not good if you have walking difficulties. The friends we trave...

We have just returned from a fortnight stay at the Aegean Plaza.
Would agree with previous posts about lack of hotel facility information in the rooms but other than that we found the place ideal.
There are three pools - a fact which a lot of people are unaware of, you just have to find them! The main pool always tended to be busy but the other two were quieter and always had sun beds available.
The pool bar is good and the guy who runs it does so efficiently as well as being very friendly.
Wi-fi is available throughout the hotel although we found it to be painfully slow at times but no big deal - we were on holiday after all!
There is a decent size shop and a small taverna just across the road and we used both, these are well positioned for hotel guests.
Rooms are clean, towels changed daily, fridge and tv in rooms although we didn't use the tv, air con to the rooms which worked a treat, we had a lovely balcony which was a good size to sit out.
Towels are available for pool use daily from the hotel.
Breakfast can get busy and is a little chaotic at times but in the main is ok.
The location of the hotel for Kamari is ideal - a two minute walk to the beach and restaurants etc. yet far enough away from the busy stretch.
Would recommend if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Kamari.

Last night I returned from my vacation I spent at Santorini, Greece. I stayed at hotel Aegean plaza in Kamari, which is a little village with a lots of bars, restaurants, etc, at the promenade at the beach. So about the hotel. First of all the overall look of the hotel (the architecture) is so cycladic - all crisp white, a lot of windows, in a shape of a circle. Rooms are spacious, all with the little terrace (if you stay in a room at the ground floor) or a balcony, the bathroom is big enough. In a while the hotel will need a basic renovation - just to keep it fresh (especialliy the bathrooms). The staff is very friendly, they are at your disposal every moment, room service is great (they change the bedding and the towels every day, etc.). The hotel is a few steps away from the beach, which is a most important thing for me (see the title), nevertheless the hotel also got the pool - not very big, but great for the famillies with small children (for example), As far as the food goes (I had breakfast here) I must say it was maybe a bit repetitive, because it was not enough selection. Not so many choices, especially in the healthy section (I don't eat anything white - flour, sugar, milk - and I don't eat food with yeast), so I got a bit bored after awhile. So maybe instead of changing the bedding and towels every single day maybe they should provide more food variety. Ou, I almost forgot:bus stop to capital Thira is close to the hotel, which is also very convenient and from Thira there are other local buses to get around the island. And by the way: the island is GREAT!!! My overall experience was very satisfactory - I got my rest and my fun and in between I saw some historical sights. I will definitely return.

Room Tip: Rooms at the ground floor are not so hot, so you won't need as much air condition.

We have just returned from a fortnight in SANTORINI at the The Aegean Plaza in Kamari Beach.

I cannot recommend the place highly enough, it is friendly and relaxed, the staff are very friendly and obliging and maintain high standards in all areas. Particular mention should go the guy who runs the bar - Chris, he works for 12 hours a day 7 days a week and is charming and friendly the whole time no mean feat. He also serves good quality cocktails!!!!

I would certainly stay here again without hesitation....

We have just returned from a week at the Aegean Plaza and probably wouldn't return to this hotel. The hotel location and feel is lovely overall but we felt there were a few things that made this 4 star hotel feel more like a 3.
Check in was simple, we were given a key to our room and told the breakfast times. That was it. We got to our very clean, simple and pleasant enough room to find absolutely no information about hotel services or the hotel itself. I've never been to a hotel and not at least found a card with telephone info or which number was the one to call reception!
We had to ask about the safe, whether there was a key or a deposit for it. As it turns out, they just give you a key. Why this wasn't issued at check in, I don't know. I think you are able to borrow beach towels from reception as we saw someone collecting some. Either way, we weren't given any info about this. The TV in the room only has one channel which is in English, which was CNN news and even then, it was the only channel with no sound for 5 of our 7 days!
We weren't told about WiFi services, again, I had to ask. On the plus side, the room was cleaned every day and fresh towels and sheets provided.

Breakfast is served between 8-10am which is fine but if you don't get there early, it becomes very busy, chaotic and the hot food will be cold food. There is a good selection of food but the stress of so many people just milling about pushing to get food and then finding a table was a massive issue for us.

The main pool area is nice but be warned... if you don't find yourself a sun lounger before 9am, you wont get one. There isn't enough loungers for the guests in the main area and we found loungers with towels on them for the majority of the day but nobody on them. We went to the hotel's second pool which is across the road and found that we pretty much had the pool to ourselves for the majority of the day which was a huge bonus.

The staff we found, weren't that friendly apart from the bar staff by the pool. They were really nice but the other staff around the hotel seemed to be pretty straight faced and didn't seem that happy!

When we checked out, we were just told, "that's done."
No "we hope you enjoyed your stay" or "thanks for staying, we hope everything was to your liking."
It was a pretty blunt end to the stay.

On a whole, we think the things lacking were purely service and information based. The hotel is fine if you're looking for a base to stay and will be going out for the day or using the beaches then this is a great place but if you are staying half board and not looking to leave the hotel, you might find a shortfall in the information and services available. The hotel is pretty and comfortable with great access to the beach, tavernas, local transport and shops.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask about all the info you might need when you check in as it wont be volunteered or p...

Excellent hotell/Resort at Kalameri in Santorini. Perfect for families, 3 pools, top of the line - breakfast. The staff is incredible. DO get to know CHRIS in the poolbar - he is probably the most charming bartender/service guy ever, no matter who he attends, grownups or if the kids are 9,12 or 18 (which ours are). 100 meters to the Beach area where there are probably at least 80+ bars/tavernas/restaurants and plenty of "life" for a family with kids. If we return to Santorini we will definetly stay at this hotel again! Recommended !
