We've just returned from a week's stay at the hotel and overall I would rate my stay as average. The hotel is clean and my first impressions were good, however after a few days the flaws become very clear.

Positives:
I was really worried about the hotel food before I went but was pleastantly suprised, breakfast is very good with a range of fruits, youghurts, bread and a hot breakfast on offer. Dinner service is good with a range of different cuisines and the alchol is reasonly priced.

The rooms and hotel are cleaned daily.

Negatives:
Do not stay in room 728, the room has the extractor fan for the hotel kitchen and each morning we were woken up at a 6:00am with the noise, however after 3 days of complaining to hotel mamagement staff they moved us to another room but overall the hotel rooms are not very soundproof as you can reguarely hear people shutting their doors and talking in the hallways. Also whilst the hotel management staff are not rude I definately did not find them friendly and they can sometimes have a very poor attitude and customer service skills e.g. when we complained about the room.

The pool area is very small and you can quite quickly feel claustrophic, however the beach is at the rear of the hotel so not too much a major problem.

Overall I had a great time visting Santorini and would highly recommend it, the island is small and easy to get around. I would stay in Kamari if you absoulutely want to stay near a beach...but my recommentdation would be to stay in Oia - stunning place, great views!

p.s. visit Navy's bar - they do the best strawberry daiquiri.

Arrived at hotel at 21:50. Checked in and was immediately served evening meal even though staff were just about to close restaurant. Room recently refurbished by the look of it and to a decent standard, although no bath, only shower. Balcony was on the small size for my liking, but useable.
Situated directly on the beach (hotel supplies towels if reqested) and within walking distance of great selection of cafe`s and restaurants. Particulary good was the Family Taverna (be careful though not to get ripped off with the bread and extra salad), and Navy`s bar.
Familiarised with the local uses - basically everything goes to Fira and then you choose your final desination from there. Visited Fira (which was going to be the place I was going to book, but was so glad I didn`t). Even in May, the small streets were very busy then, and that was on an overcast windy day. Some of the hotels and restaurants looked as though they were literally clinging to the cliff edge!
Everything in Kamari was very clean an friendly. The only downside ( and this is something that bugs me everywhere I go), is the restaurants trying to entice you into their restaurant. I like to look at the menus etc and then decide, not feel pushed into choosing their place. Prices on a par with UK - a decent snack with drinks usually around 25 euros.
All in all, this was my first visit to any Greek Island and I was impressed by the friendliness and cleanliness. I am now eager to visit other Islands, that are probably a bit greener than Santorini, which of course is all Volcanic.
I would recommend this hotel and would totally disagree with other reviews which stated the staff were unfriendly. We did not find this.
Final word - we booked transfer to and from airport with Santorini Transfers via email and confirmed again via email during our stay. Needless to say, we were forgotten and I had to phone them to collect us for the airport. The Departure lounge at the airport was very small for the numbers going through it, and not arranged or organised very well.

Our first impressions of this hotel were very disappointing. The room was a lot smaller than we had expected and certainly didn't appear to be of 4 star quality. We stayed in room 333 which had a sea view which was nice. The bathroom was quite nice, but unfortunately smelt of sewerage, which took your breath every time you entered the room. Hot water was also a problem to get after six o'clock On the plus side. the room was cleaned every day & we had fresh towels & clean sheets. Breakfast was buffet style, hot & cold, with plenty of choice, & the pool bar meals were also very good & reasonably priced. The pool area is pleasant but very cramped. the sun beds are almost touching each other. We booked with Thomson, the photo's on their website make it look nicer than it is so we were expecting better.

Whilst there was nothing wrong with the hotel, rooms, cleanliness, staff etc, overall we did not have a good experience. If you find yourself in Room 509, ask to move! It is right next to the laundry/store room where the staff congregate; are up and down all the time dragging their black bin liners; calling to one another; letting the door slam continuously and loudly. The room is also the last in the block with the balcony opening near to the wall of the next property and a tree outside blocking the light and harbouring insects - we could not leave the window/door open or we were overrun with mosquitoes etc.

The room is at the end of a corridor where any noise echoes and other guests were not particularly considerate when closing doors. During our week we were also joined by a group out there for a wedding. They pretty much took over the pool area (its not that large to begin with - the photos are deceiving).

Santorini/Kamari is also expensive - everything seems to cost just under or over 10 euros

The room was tiny and very noisy. Did not change the towels in the two nights we stayed at EUR150 per night! Staff were extremely unhelpful and very rude and not interested in giving any service. Would not recommend this Hotel ever.
There is no internet unless you pay 5 EUR for it per hour.
The hotel had a small parking space (if you can call it that) and our car was parked in there. One morning we discovered our car had been scratched and wanted to chech out of the hotel. The manager was drunk at 9 in the morning when we went to tell him we want to check out early. He told us we could not check out because we came with a ticket from the agency (which was not true) and hus he could not refund our money. We told him yhis was not the case and after 10 min of babbeling he said we had been offered a discount for 10 nights and this is why he could not refund our money (you could see he was drunk and not very good at lying in that state).
We were not offered anything besides 1 hr. of free internet.
I think that it really is a bit much for the management to switch off the restaurant lights when we were still eating lunch.
Anyway, the room looked and smelled like a prison cell.
The air never worked properly and smelled when it opened.
The breakfast food is appalling!
swimming pool was always full.
The list of complaints only goes on.
Anyway, if you decide to stay at Kamari beach (better to stay in town), there are better hotels in the area with similar rates. But, aside from this dreadful hotel, Santorini is absolutely amazing!

just spent two weeks at the venus hotel, Kamari, very clean , nice pool, great staff, excellent location facing the beach and right in amongst the bars and restraunts and a lovely beach road to stroll, Favorite restruants were Alexanders and Navy. Only downside was number of steps in hotel which we were told about in the brochure but we ended up on the top floor and no lift, however being on top floor meant we had a lovely sea view, so all those stairs were worth it. It is a must to go to the other side of the island to see thira and oia, the bus only took 15 mins and they are stunning, try to go on the days when the organised trips are not on, My favorite greek island so far.

Before I start with the bad points of this hotel, I have to give a thumbs up to the staff who we found exceptionally helpful and friendly. However, this could not make up for the level of noise in this hotel. The rooms don't seem to have any sort of soundproofing - you could hear conversations going on in rooms next door....this just did not sit well when you're on a relaxing holiday & you can't even manage to get a good night's uninterrupted sleep. I would also recommend that the food on offer at the beachside restaurant be avoided.
