“View is spectacular”

Not as good as the ancient ruins of Akrotri, but well worth a visit even if it is just for the view.

“History on the top of the mountain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

We visited the place twice, once by car on an exciting curvy and steep road. Another time by foot on a narrow path up the hill side. It takes less than an hour to walk up to Ancient Thera, which can offer a fantastic view and an interesting history.

“Fascinating archeological site!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 21, 2013

This site is very well preserved and presented, with plaques at each spot to give the background. There is a fair bit of uphill walking involved, so wear good shoes!

“Up on the mountain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

This is a great field of old stones. But before viewing you have to climb up the mountain, which will you give the best view over Kamari and Perissa. But do not forget to take a big bottle of water with you. You will need it urgently!

“Amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 18, 2013

From Kamari you cannot tell that a vast ancient city lies atop the mountain. Once up there you get the most amazing views of the island.
